Why Melinda Flowers chose Badger

Buying this property was love at first site. The area has creeks of peacful water and the lake is right outside our door. We enjoy every minute outdoor dining on the patio in the summer and the patio fireplace in the winter. We love the location, everything of beauty is virtually with our reach.

What makes this house unique

Location, Location, Location...It's a short drive to Kings Canyon one of the worlds most beautiful places. We can also visit nearby lakes and spend the day on the water.

An interesting Badger property experience

  • 4 of 5

We were a party of 17 total among four families. The property is unique, quite curious and affordable. We enjoyed walking around trying to figure out what this place might have been in the past as it was used for camping, fishing, boating etc. It appears to be used now mostly for renting out the main house and the guest house nearby. Kids enjoyed playing outside and riding their bikes. The lake is pretty but one can not swim or fish as it's quarantined . It was nice having dinner outside near it with tables and chairs provided listening to frogs and bullfrogs galore. The property is well kept and isolated. There is no internet/;wifi so one is "turned off" unless you have verizon cell carrier. The house was also well kept , clean, spacious and had plenty of bedding space and towels. The kids enjoyed the room with all bunkbeds. It was like a slumber party. We unfortunately had some issues, which hopefully will not be an issue with future families, such as the dishwasher not working(did get repaired) , limited utensil use(recommend bringing some plastic ware for knives, forks etc and perhaps some mixing bowls)There were plenty of cooking utensils, pots and pans.. Just not enough silverware for large parties. We also had a few days where the air conditioning did not work in two bedrooms and the main AC stopped working the last full day of our trip making it hard with temperatures in the high 90's. It put a damper on having to deal with household problems. We are professionals but without tools and resources we could not fix it . We made the best of it but it's hard to communicate when wifi is not available or when going into the Sequoias/Kings Canyon where it's spotty and sometimes no service to any cell carrier.... thus making communication limiting. However, after our visit I would imagine these electrical issues are resolved and it's good to go. The owners were very accommodating and responsive to calls and messages even though we couldn't receive them right away. The air conditioners themselves are in good condition and worked well when they did. We spent most of our time in the nearby National Parks. About a 30-40 minute drive from the Badger House. Although we had some appliance and electrical issues that put a damper, overall if you have a large party, this house can accommodate and make for a fun experience!.

Great location, has potential, but needs some work

  • 2 of 5

My overall impression is that this could be a great rental, if attention was given in preparation for guests. We arrived when it was about 96 degrees outside and it was just as hot inside (ac not turned on) we quickly looked for fans, which there were plenty, found the ac and began to cool the house down.

The bunk beads are camper style which is fine, but no mattress pads we provided, so we had to improvise, Otherwise you are sleeping on a hard plastic covered mattress.

The kitchen was somewhat stocked, but lacked a cutting board, which I think is pretty important. There was a pull out one, but it was splintered and not useable.

I would recommend a coffee table in the living area, so that there would be a place to put things (food/games/drinks). There is a coffee table in the pictures, but not in reality.

Looking at the pictures advertising the cabin you have the impression of views including a beautiful lake, which in reality was algae bloom green with signs say that the lake was quarantine and not to touch the water. I realize the owners are not responsible for this, but I think the pictures including the lake should be taken down.

Large and decently priced but it's time to refresh the linens, bedding and flatware

  • 3 of 5

The house was spacious for our group of 7 adults and 2 kids, and the other reviews served to moderate expectations. The fireplace was great and kitchen pretty well equipped. It could use new and more flatware and towels. The bunks were extremely hard - akin to sleeping on the floor. Also there could have been more pillows.

Disappointing

  • 1 of 5

I really had high hopes for this place. We have been renting from VRBO for 6 years now and this is the first place that was disappointing. I really could go on and on about the things that were/went wrong but I'll just say this, find a different place.
