Surrounded by tall pines and just minutes from Yosemite's southern entrance in the residential community of Fish Camp, This unique mountain cabin can be your family-friendly home away from home while exploring the natural beauty of Yosemite National Park. The Little Pine cabin is the smaller of two cabins at the Yosemite Forest Lodge.

To get here it's just a short drive off of Highway 41, through the forest along a narrow road that was once a railroad right-of-way. When you arrive you'll find your home situated in a gently-sloped clearing surrounded by a majestic grove of gigantic pines. Outside your home there is an open yard area, a private deck and covered porch areas so you can enjoy the forest environment comfortably in any weather.

For the most accurate, up-to-date details be sure to visit our website (the link is near the bottom of this page, just look for "Yosemite Forest Lodge"). You'll find more helpful information, more pictures, and full details on our rates and policies. Our availability calendar is also there for your vacation planning convenience.

It's best to contact us by email but you can also call and leave a message if you prefer. When checking our calendar remember that we normally need a full calendar day between groups in order to prepare the house. Happy planning!

The elevation here is just over 5000 feet; it is nearly always cool and shady in the summer, with comfortable daytime highs that average in the 70's (~20 degrees Celsius) and cool evenings with average lows in the low 50's (~10 degrees Celsius). There is very little or no rain during the summer months. The low humidity means your towels and swimsuits will air-dry quickly.

Our prime location puts you away from the crowds, yet close to everything Yosemite has to offer. The southern entrance to Yosemite is less than two miles up the road. If you love the outdoors, this is the place to call home. There is so much do to here that you could easily fill your day with excitement without ever entering the park itself!

Love the little cottage in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We love this cottage and consider it our first choice when visiting Yosemite. We actually stayed the summer of 2014, but life got in the way of writing a review. The cottage comes fully stocked, all you need to bring is food, clothing and a love of the outdoors. We planned to do a bus tour of the park which picked us up across the way at the hotel which was a 10-15 minute walk, the following day we went to Shavers lake (very clean and friendly staff) then we drove around to Oakhurst and Mariposa. After a busy day this is the perfect place to rest and recharge. The owners have lots of informational handouts which came in very handy and their communication with renters goes above and beyond any expectations.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Little Pine. It is in a beautiful setting and has everything you could possibly need. Owners provide dish detergent, all laundry needs, body wash, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, paper towels, ziploc bags, trash bags, spices, coffee, condiments, cooler....I could go on and on. Simply put, I have stayed in many vacation rentals and none come close to matching the amenities provided at this one. Communication with the owners was excellent from beginning to end and I received a refund on my cleaning deposit in the specified time frame. I would stay again without any hesitation and highly recommend it!

Cabin is 5 minutes from south entrance of Yosemite. It is a 45 minute drive to the valley; however, it is a long drive from all entrances to the valley even if you are staying at NP campgrounds/lodges so don't let that scare you away. The biggest plus to the south side (besides Little Pine) is that you get to see Tunnel View every day and it is truly spectacular!

Perfect evrything. Truly a pleasure.

  • 5 of 5

Truly an amazing experience. From the directions, to arrival info and access to property, to the care given to us as guests, to the location itself and all the amenities, it was all way and above expectations. I could not have been more pleased of the accommodations, communication and follow up regarding our stay. I would stay here next time without a doubt- great access to the park, amazingly friendly people and beautiful quiet retreat away from it all.

Feels Like Home!

  • 5 of 5

My partner and our 1.5 year old daughter spent a weekend here on a 3 week trip around California. Of all the places we stayed, here felt the most comfortable. 3 nights wasn't enough! The setting of the property is brilliant and the location relative to Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point and Mariposa Grove makes it ideal. We only had one weekend, but we managed to see everything we wanted that was possible with a little one in tow. The property was spotless and the in-floor furnace was brilliant at warming of the place for a cosy evening after a day out exploring. The supplies on hand meant that we didn't need to bother with half the items we brought with us - quite handy that you provide washing detergent, zip-lock bags, cooking spices etc. The list goes on! Bottom line -awesome place and will come back in a heart-beat if we're ever in the area.

Little Pines Cabin - Great for a getaway

  • 5 of 5

Cozy little cabin very close to Tenaya Lodge. Very clean and extremely accommodating. Very well stocked in regards to the kitchen and bathroom. Great for a couple to escape/getaway for the weekend or longer. Would definitely stay again and plan to contact owners for future vacations!

Cosy, comfortable cabin, perfect location to explore Yosemite

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic cosy, comfortable, spotlessly clean and excellently equipped cabin. Location perfect to explore Yosemite. 10 mins drive to Mariposa Grove and an hour to Yosemite Valley. Gorgeous views of trees from every window so feels like you're a million miles away but just a few minutes to Fish Camp store and restaurants at Tenaya Lodge. The kitchen is stocked with every ingredient and utensil you could hope for. The owners are very efficient at getting back to you. It's obvious they've put a lot of thought into making it a home away from home. I'd definately recommend this cabin and would love to go back!

Map

Car: necessary

The Little Pine cabin at Yosemite Forest Lodge is located in Fish Camp right across the highway from the Tenaya Lodge where you'll find a health spa, several dining options and lots of activities all year round. It's about a 5 minute drive from our house to the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park and about 45 minutes to the valley floor itself. You can try your luck at fishing or just splash in the water of nearby Big Creek or if you prefer, drive 20 minutes to Bass Lake for lots of beach and boating fun.

If you need to buy something small there is a convenience store right in Fish Camp. If you're looking for something more you'll find a full range of shopping and dining options in the town of Oakhurst just a 20 minute drive down the hill.

Ski: Yosemite's Badger Pass is about a 45 minute drive from our cabin. It is California's first downhill ski area at an elevation of 7200 ft. The snow is all natural and plentiful. The modest slopes and minimal development make this a perfect place for young skiers and families. With extensive cross-country ski and snowshoe trails, and even a tubing area, Badger Pass has all the winter fun you could ask for!
