Overview

About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Close to the Plaza

This cozy apartment is located just a few minutes walk from historic Taos Plaza. A cool and colorful central courtyard with splashing fountain has earned this complex the name of 'Oasis of Taos.' Step inside and you'll find a comfortable retreat where you will quickly slip into the relaxed rhythm of this very special town. In the winter, build a fire in the fireplace and let it snow; in the spring and summer linger in your private patio area and enjoy the famous light of northern New Mexico. There's something for everyone. You can choose the active lifestyle, taking advantage of the hiking, biking, fishing and skiing in the surrounding mountains. Or you can simply browse the dozens of galleries, boutiques and museums within just a few blocks. Taos offers an amazing array of restaurants and pubs as well as live music performances. Taos Pueblo, Ghost Ranch (former home of Georgia O'Keefe), and the Chama River (famous for fly fishing) are all easily accessible.

Outdoor Adventures Abound

Taos is ideal for the person who enjoys the outdoors. Each season brings its own treats. Spring flowers, fall foliage, blue skies all year round. Ski slopes for all skill levels. Lots of off road bike trails as well as some of the best road riding anywhere. Rafting and kayaking--either solo or as part of a group. An extensive system of interconnecting hiking trails easily accessible from town.

The local in-town bus service, the Chile Line, connects in winter to Taos Ski Valley.

Art--A Way of Life

Taos is unique in its long history of attracting and supporting the visual arts. Dozens of galleries line the streets of town--most featuring local artists. Friendly and knowledgeable, gallery owners are eager to share their passion for the arts. Courses and workshops continue to lure both the novice and the proficient.

Wonderful Little Nesting Place

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at Sonterra for a couple of nights. What an enjoyable little one bedroom condo located in a small development off the beaten path. Sonterra is an older development; however, Donna's unit has been updated and very tastefully decorated. Amenities to include furnishings and decor are upscale and provide for a wonderful stay. Sonterra is easy to find, has off-street parking, only a short walk to the super market and Ricky's Diner which has some of the best New Mexican cuisine in Taos (not fancy but delicious vittles with very good people). Number 10 is small but well layed out with a combination kitchen and living room. There is a separate bedroom and bathroom. The unit has a wood stove for late fall and winter visitors. Sonterra's grounds are well landscaped and offers outside seating which would be great on a summer evening. Sonterra only has 10 units and it was very quiet. We highly recommend this property.

Owner's Response: i'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay. I've always loved the location of the apartment as well and you're right--in the summer the shared central courtyard is a delight. Which means you need to plan another visit!

Great Stay!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Sonterra Condos in mid January. It was cozy, comfortable, clean and provided everything we needed for a great stay. It was also conveniently located so we were able to walk to the plaza the grocery and even a pizzeria. We would definitely return when visiting Taos thank you.

Wonderful Place

  • 5 of 5

This is an adorable small condo. I stayed for a month and enjoyed it so much. The court yard is full of sitting and reading spaces. Neighbors are delightful. I found the place clean and very comfortable. Easy walk to the Plaza and the grocery store is one block away. Even with the easy access to all the main parts of Taos the condo was very peaceful.

Very Clean + Great Location

  • 5 of 5

This was a charming place to stay. Great location just south of the downtown plaza area allowed for a very short walk to food, shops, and sightseeing.

There was convenient parking in the fenced-in lot, well-kept grounds, and friendly people staying there. The space itself was very clean and afforded everything we needed for our long weekend stay (kitchen, living area, large bedroom).

We particularly loved sitting in the courtyard/commons area with the fountain and relaxing after each day of exploring Taos. And if we wanted some privacy, the back patio area off of the bedroom was a nice setting that featured two chairs, a table, and shaded with trees.

Overall, a very pleasant stay at an affordable price. And communication with the owner was fantastic leading up to our travels. Very pleasant and thoughtful.

If you are looking for a clean, quiet, and affordable place to stay that is within a short walk to the main downtown area of Taos, this is a great option.

Owner's Response: So happy to see you enjoyed the apartment in Taos. I hope you'll consider a return trip--perhaps in the Fall to see the aspen?
