A Pirates Paradise awaits you and your family's exploration! The fun and adventure begins in Ocean Sands (Section M) just south of Corolla along the Outer Banks' northern beaches.

Enjoy the extensive amenities of this custom-built, fully equipped and well maintained getaway offering all the pleasures for a memorable vacation. Search for bounty in the private pool or hot tub. A treasure of an ocean is only 400 yds. away!

The private lake is very close by and has a 1 mile jogging path around the lake which leads to community tennis courts and pool. There’s lots to see and do nearby - 1 1/2 miles to the Currituck Club golf course (call 888-453-9400 for tee times). Less than 1 mile to TimBuckII Shopping Plaza w/ putt-putt, go-carts, water sports, small shops, restaurants & the Food Lion shopping center across the street. Also nearby, the Whalehead Club and Currituck Beach Lighthouse (visible from our observation deck too!). If you own a 4 wheel drive vehicle you can explore the 4 wheel drive beach where you will find many hidden treasures such as the Corolla Wild Horses.

About The Owner

We think if you just read the two pieces of commentary to the left it will tell you as much as you need to know about us. Well okay we're all slightly nuts, but then who isn't.

Life is too short to take too seriously. (The photo is of our ground breaking in case you were wondering!)

Why The Owner chose Ocean Sands

The story starts in the late 1950’s when our family of eight first started to vacation in the Outer Banks. Over the years of making our annual visit to the Outer Banks we have watched the Outer Banks change and grow. It went from having to take a ferry from the mainland to driving across the bridge. In a way we miss the ferry, the ride always signaled the start of annual ritual that we all dearly love.

As we all grew up and had our own families the Outer Banks still beckoned us back. By now our family’s history is so intertwined with the Outer Banks we feel we long ago became more “local” than vacationing tourist. And so at the end of each vacation every year we would all make the same comment “I sure wish that I had a place of my own down here.”

Tim and Gail began casually looking for property in the early 90’s in Ocean Sands and the Corolla area. During a vacation in September 1998 they very secretly toured properties and waited until the family had gone to bed each night to pull out their information for review (the sneaks). In October 1998 the reality of owning a place “down here” started to take on a new dimension when they approached Nancy and Steve (Tim and Nancy are brother and sister) about joining them. It really blossomed in April of 1999 when we purchased this lot our house has been built on.

That, in a brief nutshell, is how “A Pirates Paradise” came to be. As one can imagine we have myriad other stories about the Outer Banks after 40+ years of vacations and especially about the process of constructing and moving in, but we’ll save those for another day.

We hope you come back to visit us often and please visit our website and share your vacation pictures and stories with us.

We hope each guest leaves our home with the same fond memories and dreams that someday will become a reality for them just as our dreams have.

What makes this house unique

There's really two parts to this. First, with over 50+ years of experience with rentals in the Outer Banks the one thing that stands out is this is not just a 'rental', this is a home. Now this may be a difficult concept to convey, but we're sure some of you, especially those who have stayed with us before, can understand it. We enjoy it as a home and we hope our guests enjoy the experience of staying 'home' for vacation. This is simply what we strived for when we put that many years of experience into the home. Second, let's face it you come to the beach to, well, come to the beach. That may sound kind of like a duh comment, but the beach in front of Ocean Sands is truly one of the widest and best beaches in the entire Outer Banks. 'Nuff said.

Additional information about rental rates

Pet Fee $125 + Tax
Tax Rate 12.75%

If you do not have a pet you may deduct $140.94 from the quote total. You may choose to not accept the security deposit waiver fee in which case a security deposit of $500 is required.

We will consider short stays (3 night minimum) during the off-season when your arrival date is within 14 days of booking.

A rental payment of one-half (50%) of the rent and travel insurance (optional) are required at time of booking reservation. Final payments are required 30 days prior to your scheduled arrival date. An email reminder is sent 60 and 45 days in advance of your arrival date reminding you of your final payment.
