'Port Mansfield is described as “one of the best fishing areas in the country.” Speckled trout, Redfish, flounder and other fine eating and sport fish are usually plentiful in the bay. Port Mansfield enjoys the same latitude as Palm Beach, Florida. The Rio Grande Valley has a semi-tropical climate and much of it has lush semi-tropical vegetation. Port Mansfield benefits from a sea breeze that keeps it warmer in winter and cooler during the summer. '

About The Owner

I live in Oklahoma, Sherri and I have two girls that are all girl, but love to fish and crab at Port Mansfield. Fishing is the best! Where the fish always bite.

The Owner purchased this house in 2000

Why The Owner chose Port Mansfield

We grew up as a kid having soo much fun fishing and crabing. I have repeated this experience with my kids. They continue to make a trip every year having a great time.

What makes this house unique

It is really great to be so close to the water and listen to the waves as they crash on the rocks. Enjoy the sunrise and watch the moon rise over the bay. Crabing and the best fishing right out your front door. Feeding the deer and the sea gulls and Pelicans and watching all of the other birds.

Beyond Relaxed

  • 5 of 5

My stay at this cabin was the most relaxing getaway we could have ever asked for. When the stress of work & being parent gets the best of you, a couple of days watching the sunset on the peer takes all that stress away. A very homey feeling that we got from this week getaway.

Perfect setup all around. Great location and condition.

  • 5 of 5

Very easy and smooth process from start to finish. Property was just as advertised and couldn't have been a better setup for a group. Everything in great condition and full direct tv access with two huge flat screen TVs and plenty of extra storage space for fish. Two big grills are showing some wear but were more than functional. Great experience all around and hope to do it again!

Great Trip

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here Mar 10-16 2012! What a good time had by the whole family. Some of the pictures need to be updated. The living area upstairs is fantastic for hanging out--whether it be in the living area, kitchen bar area or the balcony-we had a blast. The furniture in the upstairs area has been updated to included leather recliners, couch and a large flat panel tv. Ample parking for all of us-3 families with 3 trucks and we still had room on the carport to socialize. The backyard area allowed us to play ladder bal and air darts. Also late night dominoos on the picnic tables on the balcony. The grands caught trout, hermit crabs, catfish and even an eel right out of the back yard and off the pier. They were able to fly kites off the pier-they proabaly set the Guiness Book of records for the length a kite stayed up. Wind did not cooperate-if Ed could have controlled that he would probably would have. I would definately recommend this condo to anyone from couples just wanting to get away to families with teens and young aduts.

And of course we cannot forget the deer. It was amazing watching the grands feed the deer (from does to 10 point bucks) right out of their hands. With a family of hunters-I am so glad deer season was not going on right now. I have always wanted to photograph deer and I got my chance.

One thing I would recommend is a small bench on the pier for those of us that don't fish but love to watch the grands and hubby fish. It would have been a blessing.

Fisherman's Paradise

WOW!! What a great place to stay...if you like catching speckled trout. We stayed four nights, and each of us caught a limit of spec's every morning during high tide. The lights reaqlly draw those speckled trout in. We threw gold spoons and soft plastics and just caught a bunch of good fish. crabing was good too, using chicken neck...very simple to catch crabs on that pier!! we had a very nice peaceful stay, sitting on the deck and watching the sun set on the water each evening. The houe is clean, comfortable...everything works. We can't wait to go back this fall.

Port Mansfield is known for two things, 1-The Best Fishing Ever and the most relaxing place in Texas. Sitting on your balcony and watching the sea gulls or feeding the deer. Wildlife is everywhere. Not to mention, The Best Fishing spot in Texas or the Gulf Coast. Catching all of the speckled trout and blue crabs or hiring a guide and going for the BIG CATCH! Just 6 miles by boat to the Gulf of Mexico.
