About the property

1 bedroom + sofa bed/futon, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2

Soaring above the palm trees this beautiful private suite invites you to relax being soothed by the gentle tradewinids. Enjoy paradise having a panoramic view of the expansive Ko'olau Mountain Range. Watch the sunrise over the country club near Lanikai beach, and see the sunset behind Mount Olomana, the 'Matterhorn of Hawaii'.

The studio is private and quiet, it has a separate entrance, is situated over the garage, with private parking. It does not share any walls with the main house. In the air conditioned studio is a queen size bed, futon, tile bathroom walk in shower, jacuzzi tub, galley kitchen, and walk in closet. There is a small private outdoor deck to relax and take in the views. We provide beach gear including snorkels , masks, fins, boogie boards, beach towels, and cooler.

Two of Hawaii's most famous beaches are just a 5 minute walk or 1 minute drive. Kailua beach is 2 miles long, and features Flat Island which is a bird sanctuary that you can visit. Lanikai beach is rated one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world, yet uncrowded and has a 'local feel.'

Swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddling, kite surfing, snorkeling, windsurfing, boogie boarding and surfing are popular activities at Kailua and Lanikai beaches.

A relatively easy hike is close by, with magnificent 360 degree views of the ocean and mountains.

We're just a five minute drive to Kailua where you can enjoy family and fine dining, and shopping Hawaiian relaxed style in the many contemporary shops.

Waikiki and Honolulu are 30 minutes away, for cultural events, museums, night life, endless restaurants and entertainment. Waikiki is a great place to learn to surf, and take ocean tours.

The North shore a beautiful one hour drive through mountains and pineapple farmland, is famous for world class surfing, botanical gardens, and ancient Hawaiian sites.

The Polynesian cultural center is just 45 minutes away for a day of experiencing a variety of island cultures from hula to fire dancing.

Whatever your interests, you can plan day trips and easily return to your private, quiet and romantic 'bird nest' hide-away.

Wonderful quiet neighborhood with easy pleasant walking to beaches, and dining.

The owners are super helpful and kind. We got great advice on hiking and enjoyed the beaches and beach town feel (after noisy Honolulu). Clean apartment, beautiful views, plenty of space and lots of thoughtful little extras. Would come again and send friends!

Our stay here was unbelievably great! The space is clean and well appointed with a fantastic view of the golf course and mountains. In a very nice quiet neighborhood with easy access to town and the beach. The owners were fantastic in every way. We can't wait to stay here again! Thank you!

Gorgeous view! Clean, beautifully decorated, attention to detail, very nice hosts!!!

  • 4 of 5

This is a wonderful place to stay in the Kailua/Lanikai area! The view is unmatched and cool cross breezes make you feel as if you are on top of a mountain! There are three large windows that stretch across the entire back of the studio giving you an unobstructed view of the mountains and valleys, with just the slightest glimpse of golf course which is sided with beautiful huge trees. It's truly a million dollar view!

The slat windows are on three sides of the studio, a style very common on the islands, and this offers great ventilation and air flow, along with a very sturdy ceiling fan over the bed. There is a small window unit type air conditioner which we did not even need to use! These open windows mean you may occasionally hear outdoor sounds, but none of those sounds were terribly intrusive.

The glorious birdsong in the morning starts early, but we loved it!! Any lawnmowing that occurs doesn't last more than 15 minutes and is in fact not even as loud as the birds!!! Do not let it deter you from loving this place.

The unit is beautifully decorated, with nice touches and attention to detail, nice linens and the bed was very comfortable. It is an older property, so no new fixtures, but believe us when we say it doesn't matter!! Everything works great: The hosts are as nice as can be and you will feel like you are truly on top of the world. Aloha!

Wonderful location

  • 3 of 5

We loved the neighborhood we were in which felt very safe and was an easy walk down to Kailua Beach. Unfortunately, we had some issues with the place including cleanliness when we arrived, a leak in the closet and some issues with the toilet the first night. However, the property owner was easy to work with considering he was out of town when we were there and has said he will compensate us for our inconveniences. Besides location, the highlights of the studio included the beautiful mountain view, a very comfortable bed and the nice jacuzzi tub.

Owner's Response: We felt very disturbed by the incident which occurred upon the arrival of our guest. I, the owner and manager, had just taken a trip to California for medical care. I received the phone call about the broken toilet during the night California time and as soon as possible arranged for a plumber to fix it next day. he rainstorm caused leakage, also now repaired. The temporary cleaning person has also been replaced. I assure future guests these problems have been solved and we are back up to speed.

Quiet, private, gorgeous

  • 4 of 5

My daughter-in-law and I stayed here for four days. It was so quiet and peaceful with a view that you would never get tired of. The kitchen was small (as advertised) but well-organized and had everything for basic meals. Bed very comfy! Lanikai Beach was stunning and we went there every day. It was only a half-hour to my business meetings in Honolulu but you felt a million miles away from on the touristy crowds of Waikiki. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy a relaxing side of Oahu.

In disrepair, dirty and unsafe. A huge disappointment when we've waited all year for our holiday!

  • 1 of 5

The pictures of this property are very outdated and deceptive.

Three windows above the bed are leaking causing the wet to show thru the drywall. The paint is blistering and peeling in this area. Both skylines are leaking. The leaky skylight in the bathroom causes the floor to be slippery when raining. The skylight has been leaking for some time as the water running down the ceiling from the light is causing the ceiling drywall to open up and is beginning to cave in towards the floor. Black mold may be a concern with these leaks. The long flight of stairs and railings leading up to the unit are rotting, unstable and now unsafe.

Other concerns additional to safety include a dusty and dirty unit. We cleaned the bathtub and shower immediately upon arrival of previous users dirt and hair. The owner immediately replaced the shower curtain at our request as it was also dirty.

This unit backs onto a golf course. Once at 4:00 am but typically after 5:00 am the lawn mowers can be heard cutting grass on the fairways. Most mornings they woke us up.

Major renovations are required to bring this rental unit up to acceptable standard to rent.
