Oceanside house in a French Canadian fishing village on the Bay of Fundy with 30 foot tides rising or fallinging every 6 hours and adjacent to a mile long sandy beach.
Accomodations: Fully furnished, renovated 5 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath home with ocean, lighthouse, or beach views from all 5 bedrooms.
First Floor: French doors in sunny kitchen/dining area open out onto huge deck with a panoramic view of a mile of sandy beach, a small fishing harbor and boat-building shop. Living room with wood stove, separate TV room, single bedroom with pocket doors, 1/2 bath, plus a washer/dryer/mudroom.
Second floor: The newly added Master bedroom is large, airy and light with cathedral ceilings, large windows and the panoramic view described above. It holds a King sized bed, a corner desk and chair, and a reading area with 2 comfy chairs overlooking the ocean. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed and overlooks the harbor. The back corner room has blue painted floors with white walls and looks out over the lighthouse. The last bedroom has bunk beds and also looks out over the lighthouse.
The light house, harbor, boatshop, beach, and a lovely cliff walk are all within a few hundred yards of the house. This is the French part of Nova Scotia with Acadian music presented weekly at the nearby restaurant during the summer. Everyone is bilingual and their families have been here since the 1600's and are close knit and friendly. Children and dogs love the great open beach (very safe), climbing over rocks to find fools gold and watching fishermen unload their catch on the docks. Ping pong in the garage, berry-picking on the cliffs and fishing off the wharf. Great area for kayaking, golf and birding as well.
Sunrise and sunset are both beautiful here and with the panoramic view, a horizon to horizon rainbow or a passing squall can be downright spectacular. Two fine painters have studios on the Cape and nearby markets sell the freshest of seafoods. Day trips for whale watching and an amusement park are available and marketing is done in either Meteghan or Yarmouth.
Dogs welcome. (No cats - we're allergic)

My husband, myself and out three children ( ages 11,13 and 15) just came back from Cape St. Mary's. When we arrived at the house the place was immaculate. There was plenty of space for all of us. There is a huge window in the master bedroom that has a view of the water that is truly beyond words. I think throughout the duration of our stay everytime I entered the master bedroom I said " WOW". The deck off the kitchen has a picnic table and overlooks the beach and the fishing dock. Life is simple in Cape St Mary's and yet there was never a shortage of things to do. The kids hiked, fished, searched for fools gold, and swam. The beach was definately one of the cleanest most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The house had everything we needed and the owner was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. I would highly recommend this rental ! We still talk about the view !!
Peace, ocean, thirty foot (10 m) tides, woods and the friendliest people you could meet. For this French Acadian / English / native community, fishing is the major source of income. Many people in Claire County, Nova Scotia speak both French and English; they were all very welcoming to my family. The house was clean and neat and the property is larger than the photos let on, the entire thing sits on a low cliff overlooking hundreds of acres of beach that completely disappear as the tide comes in. Local rivers rush in two directions depending on the tide.
