Beautiful Lakefront Home with Attractions Nearby

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a beautiful lakefront vacation home to relax and get away from it all, yet close enough to great attractions like Chimney Rock and Biltmore Estate, then this is the vacation home for you. This home is extremely clean and well-maintained, and equipped with everything you need for a home-away-from-home. Beautiful Lake Lure is just four decks away with views of Chimney Rock. We are a family of six adults, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend this home for your next North Carolina vacation.

In love with Lake Lure!

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful spot on the lake! Awesome location. Loved the town of Chimney Rock and being on the lake. House had everything we needed to have a great time. 1st floor Renovations are very nice. Deck needs work. Awesome to have kayaks, floats and canoe. Owners were very responsive to needs. We loved it! We will be back.

Beautiful home on a beautiful lake!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week here at Lake Lure! The big kids used the canoe and kayaks every day we were there and the little kids enjoyed swimming in the lake right off the dock and playing with pool floats. The space inside was nice and just what we needed for the 6 of us. It's very close to the Rumbling Bald nature trail which was easy enough to do and lovely. I would definitely recommend this house on the lake!

Mostly good, with a few nitpicks

  • 3 of 5

First, let me say that we really did enjoy our stay at this lake house. The views are beautiful and the lake is right there. The house is spacious and accommodated my husband and me and for a while my sister, brother and sister-in-law comfortably. The kitchen is modern and very functional. The place was well stocked with paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags and more. The owner responded quickly to a couple of minor repairs we requested at the beginning and was responsive during our stay. My nitpicks are... The land line only takes incoming calls -- you can't call out. Our cell service (Verizon) didn't work there, so if we'd had an emergency, we would have been in real trouble. Also, how to make dinner or golf reservations? I wish we'd been told that in the beginning. I also wish we'd been told before booking that a cleaning fee would be deducted from our deposit unless we opted to clean the place ourselves (including laundry of all linens and putting them back on beds etc., vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms). We were told this after we made our final payment and had never experienced that policy before when booking with HomeAway (which we've done often). Parking is difficult for more than two cars and impossible for more than three -- and if there are three, they'd better be small. The decks need work (peeling paint and splintery). Front porch is downright seedy and gave us doubts when we first arrived (fortunately the inside was much better). We gave up on using kayaks or the canoe because the water level is about three feet below the deck and getting in would not have been easy. (But then, we're not 20-somethings, so maybe younger folks would think it's fine.) That's it. More good than not-so-good.

Owner's Response: Susanna, Let me address you issues. The land line works for both incoming and outgoing calls, but for local calls only. The reason we don't allow long distance calls is obvious, as it could be costly. As far as the cleaning fee, it plainly states so on our lease agreement. Most places just charge for cleaning, either in a stated fee or include it in their rental fee. We feel like it is more fair to give people the option, in order to save money. We feel parking is adequate, sorry you don't. We are constantly replacing decking, and if you would have informed me during your stay we would have taken care of it promptly, as we did on your other minor repairs. And there is a set of stairs down to water level at the dock for ease of access for the boats, it's never been an issue in the 14 years we have rented the house. Plus the water level does rise and fall with the dam release, that's something we cannot control. In spite of these minor issues, I'm glad you had a good time. Jeff

Wonderful getaway home

  • 5 of 5

Location was perfect with gorgeous views. Enjoyed deep water fishing off dock as well as great memories made taking the canoe out. House was well kept and stocked with the necessary kitchen stuff. The beds and living room were all very comfortable. Would definitely recommend this home!
