About Trina Kim

My wife and I fell in love with Rome in 1983, when at the start of a seven-week European vacation my wife fell ill and was admitted to the womens' ward at a hospital in Rome. We knew no Italian and were petrified. However, we soon made many friends in the hospital. The warmth, generosity and love of life the Italians possessed - even in such a dismal situation as a hospital ward - were totally captivating to us and convinced us that this was our home away from home. We eventually continued our European tour, but came back to Rome continually through the years. In 1996, we decided we needed a place in Rome that we could return to several times a year. It took awhile to find a place that met our requirements: a central location, nice views and at least two bedrooms.

Trina Kim purchased this apartment in 2001

Why Trina Kim chose Rome

We had a hard time finding a place that met our requirements: a central location, nice views and at least two bedrooms. We eventually took out an ad in a local English-language paper that led to a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment of 1,650 square feet. It was just the right size and located on a quiet street. It had remarkable character. A few years later, the adjoining apartment became available and we decided to purchase it also. We've enjoyed shopping for and furnishing the apartments with hand-picked antiques and luxurious furnishings.

What makes this apartment unique

The neighborbood and apartment have immense character. The hand-coffered ceilings and original wooden floors add a sense of grandeur to the spacious, elegant rooms. The apartment is centrally located, which is ideal: One block from Piazza Navona, three blocks from Campo di Fiori market and four blocks from the Pantheon. There are numerous small, friendly pubs on our street, in addition to excellent restaurants, boutiques, antique shops, and grocers.

Our stay at the Romit Apartment was excellent! The apartment is beautifully furnished, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Especially found the washer / dryer to be useful. The only problem we had was connecting to the Wifi, which was corrected quickly when our apartment manager came by to help. We felt safe and found the neighborhood to be fun and friendly. Lots of good restaurants close by. The only drawback might be the four flights of stairs up to the apartment. The stairs were not steep and we managed( two couples over 64!) but there were sightseeing days when we wished for an elevator! I would stay here again. We thought the price was a very reasonable compared to staying in a hotel of the same quality.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Lorraine, for your kind words. We joke that the stairs are there to work off gelato and pasta! We look forward to seeing you again.

Great Apartment in Rome

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was the perfect location and size. We walked to all the sites including Trevi Fountain, St Peter's, Spanish Steps and even to Tiber Island where we enjoyed a walking food tour. The neighborhood shops and restaurants were awesome. Step out the front door to taste some of the best food ever. We hope to return one day.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Jean! So happy to hear you enjoyed the apartment and its location. We agree; the location is perfect for walking anywhere and everywhere you need to go. Also, the proximity to the open market for vegetables, fruits, flowers, etc. can't be beat!

The Perfect Apartment in Rome

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was utterly charming and beautifully maintained. It was perfect. My daughter, grand-daughter and I all enjoy it! We loved the location! We could walk everywhere: to St. Peter's, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc. And the shops and restaurants (especially Catina & Cucina and Viva bistrot were great fun) on the street below delighted us. I will long remember opening the large windows one evening and beautiful music from a violinist floated upward to the apartment. We can't wait to return.

Absolutely the best apartments!

  • 5 of 5

Our last trip to Rome was the second time in the Stoll/Romit apartments. We have stayed in both apartments and they are the very best places to stay. This trip we stayed in Romit. It is beautifully decorated, large, clean and in the very best location. Everything, bathrooms, washer/dryer, AC. The local manager is pleasant and helpful. The USA manager is always delightful and quick in responses.

We had some dental issues and the USA manager helped secure an appointment with a dentist that was actually on the ground floor of the building. Great dentist and English speaking.

Right outside the downstairs door are shops of all kinds, restaurants, gelato and two short blocks away Piazza Navona. We love Rome and can't wait to return and stay in one of these apartments.

Owner's Response: Thank you! We look forward to your next visit, too! So glad the dentist worked out. Best, Trina

Had a great stay

  • 4 of 5

My wife, oldest daughter, and stayed for five nights in your lovely apartment. The location is perfect for seeing rome on foot, which we die. The neighborhood around the apartment is lively with good restaurants and shops.

The apartment is up four flights of stairs so probably not the perfect fit for the un-fit. The large living room does have fans but is not a/c ed like the two bedrooms. My only complaint is quite minor and probably can not be remedied; given that this is a two or three hundred year old building; there is not much insulation between floors. In the master bedroom I could hear every footfall and shoe drop from the resident above, who seemed to retire at 1:00 each morning. My wife slept through this, so maybe it is because I am a light sleeper. Again, we had a great time and hope to return soon.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Greg! So glad you all enjoyed your stay and yes, the location is ideal. The walk up to the apartment keeps the pasta/wine/gelato damage to a minimum without the need for the gym! We hope to see you on your next trip to Rome.
