Magical musical time in Nashville

  • 5 of 5

We had a family group of seven who came from all over the country to meet together in Nashville to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. We chose The Duck House to be our gathering place. The house itself is wonderfully centrally located, but in a beautiful residential area, and is spacious and comfortable with a lot of character. But the true beauty of The Duck House is Jan, the owner, herself. What originally seemed like it might be a little awkward - the fact that she lives at the house during your stay - turned out to be the best part of a great trip. Jan is an active songwriter who is constantly working with co-writers and putting together music. When she had people coming over to write, she said she would hide back in her bedroom - - but when we asked her if we could eavesdrop they worked in the main living areas. We were treated to the wonderful experience of hearing the music evolve. She has since sent us the demos of the songs they were working on. She also gave us a personal tour of Music Row, great advice on where to go for the songwriters' showcases, and a heads-up on free rehearsals before the CMT Awards shows, etc. She is a fun, warm, and knowledgeable lady, and we highly recommend a stay with her at The Duck House.

Awsome Location

  • 5 of 5

I will be staying here again...the home is comfortable and the neighborhood is wonderful. The location couldn't be better. Easy on and off of all major thoroughfares. The home is quite large and bright....lots of fruit trees and grapevines and other interesting vegetation. Large Deck on the back, Off Street Parking....comfortable furnishings. Take your shoes off at the door....which I very much appreciated. Huge staircase.....fenced back yard....with two adorable cats....they eventually come to check you out....be CAREFUL BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVE....THEY HAVE THAT NASHVILLE LAID-BACK "I'M MOVING" ATTITUDE. Wonderful experience for me....Jan was kind enough to invite me to a songwriter's jam at the Gold Rush in Midtown Nashville to listen to her play along with a number of other artists. Calie, the bartender there is the best....and you must try the Monday night special.....Bean Roll.....Lot's of good food.....enough for breakfast the next am. Thank you again, and if you get a chance.....stay here....It will be an experience you will never forget. Thanks for such a heartfelt provision of offering up your home to me. Sincerely, Rhonda

You Won't Find Better Hospitality

  • 5 of 5

Our family and friends had a wonderful time at the Duck House. Jan was an incredible host. We were excited to get to stay with a song writer who told us about the industry, and who was also interested in us. Jan made sure that everything was perfect for our stay and we enjoyed it and felt like we were right at home. We highly recommend the Duck House if you are looking for somewhere authentic and cozy to stay in the Nashville area.

Location was great, Jan was so sweet!

  • 4 of 5

Jan made us coffee and a sweet treat for breakfast everyday, she was great to make recommendations on places to eat and made sure we enjoyed our trip to Nashville. Only reason not a 5 is because we didn't know about the cat and 2 of us had severe allergies that we fought for the weekend. All in all, My friend thoroughly enjoyed her bachelorette weekend! Thanks Jan!
