Why Aleda chose Upper Peninsula

My parents bought the property in the later 1960's and the first buildings constructed were the outhouse and sauna. Our family enjoyed camping in the summers. In the early 1970's my dad, along with help from my mother and us kids, built the cottage and then the garage. Over the years many family members and friends have enjoyed the cottage, the fabulous beach, and all the different views of Lake Superior which can go from total calmness to big waves crashing on the beach. It is our hope that our rental guests enjoy the cottage and the property as much as we do.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for letting us rent your nice cottage! We had a great time and your cabin was neat, clean and comfortable. And of course the beach is magnificent. I hope we can rent it some other time again. Thank you so much.

family time

Our 4 adults and puppy were so comfortable during our July week-long stay. Cabin was extremely clean and cozy. Did not need the loft beds which was good since it was sunny every day with temps in high 70's to mid 80's so the loft got quite warm by evening. Fans in each room and cool nights made for great sleeping. Thoroughly enjoyed the sand, sauna, and sunrises. Had everything needed to cook and grill at the cabin. Just minutes to our family, friends, and shopping....also to our favorite eating spots in Houghton (Suomi Restaurant for the best pasties and Finnish nissu and the Ambassador for pizza), and a return visit to the majestic Estevant Pines near Copper Harbor. The owners promptly responded to my calls and emails and were a pleasure to meet on our arrival.

Owner's Response: Thank you. You had a great week with some warm temperatures to enjoy a lot of family time. Hope you got your feet in the water and maybe for some of your family to even take the plunge! The loft can get warm on warm sunny days but it does help to open the widow and use the fan up there. Using the fans on the main level also helps to get the air moving. We are so glad you all enjoyed your stay and it was our pleasure meeting you.

Our stay in the cabin was absolutely wonderful! Everything we needed was in the house and it's so clean! The kids had a great time down on the beach, during the day as well as at night around the fire. We would definitely stay again. Thank you so much

Owner's Response: From the crystal clear waters of Lake superior lapping onto the sandy beach to the flicker of the firelight in the fire pit, our beach offers memory making activities including swimming, building sand castles, and roasting hot dogs over the fire. We are glad that you all had a great time. Thank you.

Nice week in the fall

  • 5 of 5

We spent 10 days at the cottage in September/Oct and it was a great trip. The photos on-line, understate the quality of the property. Everything was spotless and the kitchen was inordinately well stocked with every item you could think of. Just bring groceries and you will have no reason to leave. The Sauna was immaculate and the shower there provided a great second half-bath facility. We brought our boat and put in at several local lakes including Superior and caught salmon and lake trout that were fantastic when cooked on the brand new grill.

The cottage was immaculate, beds were all comfortable and supplies were plentiful. We enjoyed the sauna and the beach in spite of the cool temps.

I highly recommend this property and hope to go back again.
