About Michael J. Minsky

We are Californians who love the desert. We speak English, Spanish and some Portuguese. Our main concern is that you as a guest are happy and return to enjoy Les Cours in the future. Photo above is us with one of our first guests!

Michael J. Minsky purchased this house in 2009

Why Michael J. Minsky chose La Quinta

We have been in La Quinta since the 1960's and live here and other locations throughout the year. Our family has owned and rented out properties here, even historic La Quinta casitas. We love La Quinta and find it a very unique place in the desert. We have remodeled Les Cours to show our appreciation for the contemporary simplicity, yet a flare found in New Orleans.

What makes this house unique

Being close to Old Town in La Quinta Village, but not amid the local traffic. Eisenhower is a wide four lane road with an island and adds to Les Cours viewing ability. Mountain gazing is a main feature.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Excellent rental experience. The house is well-laid out with everything you need to enjoy cooking and hanging out. Inevitable questions and maintenance issues were dealt with quickly. Comfortable beds with good quality and ample linens. Spa was great. Neighborhood is friendly and easy biking to coffee, tacos, & shopping, with walk-out-the-door hiking. Property exceeded our expectations. We were sad to leave...

Modern, cozy, perfect retreat

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed the week and enjoyed every bit of the comfortable space. It was very nice, quiet, and fit our needs perfectly. Our personal chef came to cook and said the kitchen was suitable and had everything she needed to make our evening meals delicious. We watched Sunday & Monday Football on the huge plasma TV. Outdoor fire pit was pleasant and hot tub was great once we figured out to turn on gas. Even when when had a difficult time with the hot tub, Michael (homeowner) responded quickly to resolve the confusion. Thank You~ This place really has it all, it was our first experience with VRBO and we were very pleased. We'll be back!!!

Modern, Quiet, and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful house perfect for relaxing in luxury. Its location in the Cove is prime for its stunning mountain views, closeness to trails, and minutes to Old Town. I stood in the guest bedroom which is very comfortable and across the hall from the guest bathroom that is fully equipped with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a blow dryer. Relaxing in the living room was easy with its plush comfortable seating, fireplace, and plasma TV. The huge spa, barbecue, and pretty lighting in the festive courtyard were also a highlight for me. I also loved the many hiking trails close by, the delicious ice cream shop in Old Town, and going to The River in Palm Desert where there is a movie theater and upscale shopping and dining. I highly recommend this 5 star rental to anyone looking for a quiet and modern house to stay with family and friends. I will definitely be back!

La Quinta's rich history

The ancient Salton Sea, the Cahuillas, the ranches, the Bradshaw Trail, The La Quinta Hotel, celebrities, The DesertCclub, PGA West…are all part of La Quinta’s rich history. We invite you to explore La Quinta and discover why it’s such a special place.

La Quinta is nearly surrounded by the Santa Rosa mountains and is located on the floor of the Coachella valley. When the floor of the valley began to sink, it was covered by the Pacific ocean. Over a period of hundreds of years, the Colorado River flowed into the gulf of California and formed a large delta fan. Silt basin deposits grew higher and wider until the basin was cut-off from the ocean, while the mountains on both sides grew higher. When the Colorado river changed its course five hundred years ago, the east Coachella valley flooded creating the freshwater Lake Cahuilla. You can still see the lake's water line today along the base of the Santa Rosa mountains.

The desert Cahuilla indians, hunters and gatherers, were the first ancestors of the La Quinta area. They were one of a few native American tribes who dug wells. The Cahuilla indians still exist today.

The first scheduled trains began operating between Los Angeles and Indio in 1876, as the Indio area had a plentiful water supply. Farmers were able to get their vegetables, melon, citrus and date crops to metropolitan areas. La Quinta's climate was ideal for growing exotic dates, sweet corn, Bermuda onions and Thompson seedless grapes.

As travel to the desert became easier, Los Angeles residents began making trips to the area. When La Quinta incorporated in 1982, it was named for the La Quinta resort which had been established in 1926.

The city of La Quinta is booming with a growing population, as well as a large seasonal population of 'snow birds.' there are retail stores along highway 111 and Washington street, the old town village area with boutique shops and restaurants, hotels, and a variety of recreational and cultural activities.
