About Gail Margoshes

I built The Farm in 2008, having purchased the three acres from my good neighbors down the hill. My late husband and I had spent summers at their cottage and wanted our own piece of this glorious, and peaceful countryside. When I'm not at The Farm, I live in Miami and am in practice as a Psychoanalyst. My Golden Retrievers can attest to the fact that this is dog country par excellance.

Gail Margoshes purchased this chateau / country house in 2008

Why Gail Margoshes chose Glenville

The area of Lake Glenville, Highlands and Cashiers provide great boating, antiquing, hiking, photography, skiing, horseback riding and North Carolina country life. It's peacefulness and serenity is its most essential quality. Come and hear the silence of nature. You'll never want to leave.

Wedding weekend

  • 5 of 5

There are no words to describe how wonderful this home is! We were there for our daughter's wedding at Sawyer family Farmstead, right across the road. Gail has thought of every detail, every possible thing one could need at this lovely home. Comfy beds are important to us and the beds were amazing! The kitchen and living areas are beautifully decorated, but comfortable and warm! The vista from the wraparound deck is incredible, especially while star-gazing at night! Thank you, thank you for a most wonderful experience!! Thanks also to Lenny for making arrival and departure so easy and smooth!

Perfect family get away!

  • 5 of 5

Over a two week period, my wife and I enjoyed hosting our three grown children and two grandchildren at the Farm. The house was beautiful and well stocked with everything we needed. We spent our days hiking the many trails in the Cashiers/Highlands area or cruising Lake Glenville on a pontoon boat from Signal Marina. At night, the sunsets from the front porch were spectacular! The house is a short drive from Cashiers and we were able to enjoy the local restaurants and activities. If you're there in June, Groovin on the Green is a great family activity for enjoying local music and the friendly folks in Cashiers. Thank you, Gail, for opening up your mountain home to us. Perfect getaway from the Florida heat!

Relaxing Beauty

  • 5 of 5

We have been traveling to Glenville, NC for over 15 years. Every summer we rent a place and this by far was one of the most beautiful properties inside and out. It was warm and inviting and extremely comfortable for everyone. We loved cooking in the kitchen, sitting at the dining table and moving to the family room. We sat out on the wrap around porch every morning and every evening. We would watch our dogs run around the property having a blast. We were so sad to leave, but we know we will be back again. The owner is so sweet and wants nothing more then to make sure everyone is happy.

Autumn wedding in Glenville at The Farm

  • 5 of 5

I'm not sure there will be enough room to write the review I have for this property and the owner! I have rented many homes before and never have I been as happy or comfortable I was at The Farm! From the moment you head up the driveway and see this magnificent home up the hill, you are in awe. My family and I went up for one of my daughters wedding and as luck would have it I was just minutes from the venue! The moment we walked in, we were instantly at home, the house is so gorgeously decorated, every room is perfect and you need nothing. The bedding is beautiful and comfortable and so are the towels. The cookware the dishes the furnishings, amazing! Wait till you sit on the porches!! That was the most enjoyable part of the day, having coffee on the porch with my family, watching the early morning fog burn off to the beautiful fall colors in the mountains, breath taking! The huge fireplace in the living room is the great centerpiece of the living area, and boy did we enjoy keeping the fire going all day! There was plenty of room for all of us and the layout is such that your family can all be together and not on top of each other. The grounds and the house are much more beautiful than the pictures of them. We walked the property and the views are something else! We saw deer a couple times and a bald eagle even made an appearance! It's in a perfect location to the lake and to Cashiers, just in case you feel like going out to lunch, dinner or even to get some shopping in! Being from Florida the fact that the driveway was easy to navigate was definitely a plus and plenty of parking space too! I just can't wait to book this magnificent home again. I'm sure anyone that stays at The Farm will be just as pleased as we were! It's been a great pleasure working with the owner and during your stay any problem at all is taken care of right away! I hope this review helps you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

May Wedding 2016 Breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

This home owner has an amazing home. Everything you need for any stay. The home is stunning. We went for my son's wedding and loved our stay. The setting of this home is lovely. Very close to the lake as well as town. But still far enough to feel like you are lost in time. The home was decorated immaculate.

I would recommend this property to anyone.

Great stay for the whole family!

  • 5 of 5

We travel to North Carolina every other year for Thanksgiving week and most of the houses we stay at we rent through VRBO. The Farm is by far the loveliest, most comfortable and beautiful house we have stayed at! Everything from the first response from the owner to our departure was excellent. One thing we loved the most (besides the AMAZING kitchen!) was how easily accessible is the house. The location is great - we even spent a day in Gatlinburg, TN with plenty of time to return back home. A quick drive to Highlands and you will find a really lovely upscale town with great food and service. Since we stayed in Glenville during cold weather, we didn't get to enjoy the lake, but did enjoy a drive through the beautiful scenic roads around it. The house is perfectly appointed and extremely comfortable. It is the perfect place to just relax and fall back in love with nature and life! It is so peaceful, yet you don't feel so isolated from civilization as everything is very accessible. The beds are amazing! The house is a piece of art! The caretaker is very attentive and helped us with everything we needed. Gail, the owner, is a pleasure to work with. Please, do not think twice about renting this property. You will not regret it! We spent the most beautiful Thanksgiving week so far at The Farm and are very grateful we came across this rental.
