Take a swim in the sparkling ocean or hike along the 'Kings Trail' and take in the beauty of the black arches, blow holes, sea turtles and whales (when in season) along the coastal path. Snorkel in the calm waters of Hana Bay or take the short hike to Red Sands. Just 2 miles from Hana town is Koki and Hamoa beach. A great place to watch the surfers or boogie board yourself.
Just 10 miles from Hana is Ohe'o Gulch with the 7 Sacred Pools. Take an amazing hike through the bamboo forest to Waimoku falls. Keep going and visit Palapala Ho'omau Church, and the grave of Charles Lindbergh.
Hana is like stepping back in time to what Hawaii was like 30 years ago before high rise condos and shopping centers. You can find all the gifts you would need such as Aloha shirts, homemade jellies and jewelry at the local stands or quaint shops. The beauty of the area and the genuine Aloha spirit of the people make this a truly special place

About Jody Ellis-Smith Tax ID #03450934-01
My husband purchased this property in 1982. I am a part time resident of Maui and could not think of a more wonderful place to call home! We live on the mainland in Montana when we are not here. We live and farm spring and durham wheat.

Why Jody Ellis-Smith Tax ID #03450934-01 chose Hāna
While in Hana we enjoy planting and maintaining the various fruit trees we have growing. The property used to be solid jungle. It has taken many years to clear and replant the land. We now can enjoy the hard work and indulge in all the delicious fresh fruit! The properties in our neighborhood are one half acre and more, so there is plenty of privacy and quiet evenings. Our property is one acre with many plantings to ensure privacy. We have had our lava wall built along the road and a hibiscus hedge that almost grows the length of it
What makes this Cottage unique
The Hana area is a truly unique and wonderful place where you can get away from a hectic pace and recharge! Fresh fish, fresh fruit and great hiking and beaches along with the welcoming atmosphere, make Hana the perfect get away! Most morning we take a short walk to Waianapanapa State Park. It is magical walking through the shade of the kamani nut trees to open up to the view of beautiful black lava arches, brilliant blue ocean and striking green plants. The coastal trails are the same the ancient Hawaiians used to travel the island. The walk ways around the camping and picnic area have all been redone with handicap access to look outs and handrails.

Lovely Hana home
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely house in Hana. A beautiful arrangement of flowers greeted us and we couldn't have asked for a more lovely time. Lovely house and spacious yard. Close to parks and beaches.
We would definitely stay here again!
Very comfortable house, exactly as described. Fully equipped kitchen. Lovely location with a huge yard full of fruit trees and a passion fruit vine. Very short walk to beautiful black sand beach and close to many other beautiful beaches and the beach end of the national park which is great for hiking. We were very happy here. Note: Hana is thin on grocery stores, so if you want to do any substantial cooking, buy your meat and fish before you get there. Eggs, milk, butter, fruit, etc. are all available in Hana.
Cute house with central location in hana

Beautiful cottage with an amazing garden
We loved staying at the Luana Cottage. The best part was waking up and picking fresh fruit for our smoothies. Close proximity to the black sand beach and other sights made this location perfect for us since we are traveling with a toddler.
Great location in Hana!
My husband and I have rented this propter several times over the years when visiting Hana. It is always clean, comfortable, and consistent quality. It is a great location, walking distance to Wainapanapa.
Amazing property, very conveniently located for a Hana adventure!
We arrived later in the day than planned and had a little trouble finding the place, but no other hitches once we did. The home was beautiful and perfect for our family of 5. We didn't have great weather but still had fun exploring Hana - the location of this home is perfect. Right next to the black sand beach and close driving distance to MANY other sights! Our favorite part was definitely explore the property and all the fruit trees! It was amazing to have fresh fruit for breakfast every morning :) Definitely recommend and would love to stay again myself! Thanks again Jody for everything, we really enjoyed our stay and appreciated your hospitality!
