About The Owner

My name is Paul Jamieson and I own the Americana in Hampton Beach. The Americana has been in my family for more than 20 years. I spent summers during my teenage years working in Hampton Beach and staying at the Americana. I've been extremely lucky to meet so many wonderful people as a result of my association with this property!

Great Vacation!

My friends and I had a great time staying at the Americana! Everything was very clean, and we were able to check in and out with no hassle. The parking spot was easy to find from the email we were given. The Americana was in a great location to all the main points we wanted to visit and the owner was extremely friendly! Would definitely recommend and would book again!

We are a little famely that rented an one room unit with a superbe view of the sea. It was calm, clean and confortable. We recommanded it to anybody.

Excellent Stay

We stayed over the July 4th 2017. We had a wonderful time. Ocean view was amazing. Paul was readily available and easy to rent with. Enjoyed people watching, fire works and amazing sunrise right from the deck!

We will rent again!

Owner is Rude - Doesn't Value his Returning Customers!

Had the unfortunate chance to meet the owner of The Americana at Hampton Beach last summer (July 2016) after staying here for the week (for the second year in a row). The owner was extremely rude and disrespectful - he kept calling me "the girl" and calling himself a "busy guy".

We were loading our car in the driveway at checkout when he pulled up. Without really greeting me, he told me I needed to move our car. I went back up to the room to grab the car keys (and another load of bags) and when I came back, he became a disrespectful monster.

I tried to explain the situation: I didn't have the car keys on me and had to go grab them and while there I grabbed another load of bags - so I didn't waste his time or mine. He was not happy with that - started calling himself a "busy guy" and yelling at me to move. At this point passerby's started to stop to watch him yell at me. It was embarrassing!

Needless to say we will not be back! I do not recommend you waste your money on someone who doesn't value you.


As for the property:


Wasn't clean when we arrived (both years). We start by sweeping and sanitizing everything! The furniture and interior are older and rundown. Limited kitchen supplies for cooking. WiFi signal was VERY weak. Curtains in the bedroom didn't stop any light. Only one AC to power the whole apartment. You had to bring your own sheets. You have to bring ALL of you own bath supplies (including toilet paper and trash bags).


It's at the start of the Hampton Beach strip. It's across the street from the beach but calling it an own front view, for the back building, is a stretch. No view of the beach from inside the apartment or side deck.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to respond. We welcome any and all feedback. I think it's important to add some context to this situation. First off, Jessica should not even have been at the unit at the time of our meeting. She was not an authorized renter of the unit. In addition, check out time is 10 am but Jessica was still at the apartment nearly 2 hours later. In cases like this, I have to protect my cleaners and the guests checking in later that same day. My cleaners work their butts off trying to provide a nice, clean product to each and every guest. Their job is not easy under the best of circumstances but they do a great job anyway. Shortly after I arrived, my cleaning staff alerted me that there were people still remaining in the apartment and that they were uncooperative. At that time, I was already dealing with an issue of an unauthorized car parked in the driveway of the property. I came to find out that the car in the driveway belonged to her as well! I informed her of the driveway policy and asked her to move the vehicle. She agreed but then disappeared for at least 15 minutes. When she came back she still did not move the vehicle. I attempted to speak with her boyfriend, who refused to respond to any of my questions. So, not only were they holding up my cleaning staff but they were holding me up as well. She's right that I informed her how busy I was and how busy my cleaning staff gets. I thought that might matter to her but it didn't. That's when I let her know that they would not be welcomed back to my property, nor would the authorized guests who rented the apartment. I hate having to do that, because the main goal is to have happy guests, who want to return year after year. The Americana has a very high renewal rate for that very reason. Given that this was the 2nd year renting to this group, I think they liked the place! But, it's not enough for Jessica to ruin it for them, but now she thinks it's appropriate to try to impact my business with this kind of negative review. The whole situation is regrettable to say the least.

I rented the three bedroom in the back building last year. When we arrived we found that the rental was filthy dirty. There was food on the living room floor and on the furniture. When I lifted the twin mattresses to make the bed I found rotten food, candy and other items I could not identify. We were told by Paul that the place was cleaned and this crew was the best cleaning crew he has had in years. I had to call him to come and replace the vacumn bag as it was so full it wouldn't work properly. He didn't seem to care much that the kitchen floor was black and after we cleaned it you could actually see that it was white. I was disgusted. I can't believe that anyone would expect guests to live in that filth. We had to clean the whole place ourselves. I would not recommend anyone to stay there. The year before we stayed on the 3rd floor in the front and didn't even have a broom or vacumn. When I told Paul about it he said "Oh, there is supposed to be one in there". Poor management and sloppy housekeeping. Paul should be embarassed. Clean up your act or you may lose more customers than me!

Owner's Response: On the second day of this customer's stay, he called to tell me that he was not satisfied with the cleanliness of the apartment and that the vacuum cleaner needed a new bag. I drove up to the property promptly that afternoon to rectify the two issues. My priority is to make sure all of my guests are satisfied with the accommodations during their vacation and I take it very seriously. When I arrived, I changed the bag and offered to send my cleaners, who normally get rave reviews, back to his apartment for a second cleaning free of charge. He declined. Although I don’t agree with this customers assessment of the apartment, I will work with every guest to make sure his/her stay is the best I can possibly make it. Summer vacations are very special to me and my family, so I do my best to make sure that they are the same for all of the families who stay as guests at the Americana year after year.
