Beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Maria is a fabulous host! The cottage is beautiful and stocked with anything you might need! Snorkel gear, chairs, sand and rain umbrellas, rain coats, beach towels, coolers, sunscreen, bug spray, flash lights, shampoo etc. We wish we would have booked a few extra nights in Hana. There is so much to see and we wish that we hadn't felt rushed. This part of our 2 week stay absolutely made the trip for me. We will be back!

The cottage was lovely! At a very convenient location if you want to enjoy both sides of the road to Hana! Definitely recommended for at least 2 nights if you are spending time in Maui! Maria is also great, very helpful and gives very good tips! Mahalo Maria!

Amazing Hide-Away!

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful setting - perfect for a couple for a private time away! Maria is a great host! If only she can get rid of the mosquitoes buzzing in the Hana area, haha!

Picture Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is adorable! My husband and I stayed here for part of our honeymoon and we loved it. The location was central to some "Road to Hana" attractions which was great. Also, Maria was so helpful with advice about the area and also in giving us a refund due to our flights being delayed because of Hurricane Irma. Thanks so much Maria! Lastly, to any future renters, while staying at the house, hop in your car and take Nahiku Rd past the house to its end after the church. You'll come to a broken bridge you can't drive across. But walk across it and take the paved road to its end. Hike a little to the fresh waster spring to your left. Very secluded waterfall! Gorgeous spot with a view :)

Clean and cozy jungle cottage - best value near Hana

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in August 2017, and in other places around the island during this trip (and previous trips). Overall we found this unit to be superior in comparison to others for the reasons below.

Great features of this unit:

- it is CLEAN (and I'm pretty picky)

- it is well-stocked (good variety of kitchen stuff, beach accessories, newer DVDs , emergency toiletries like bug spray, lots of towels, etc etc)

- tasteful, updated decor

- best layout I've seen for a small cottage....everything just made sense where it was. It felt really big for its size.

- Hooks outside/inside for hanging up wet towels, etc

- a safe for valuables

- newer portable tower fans plus ceiling fans, and lots of small windows with screens that did a great job of keeping all the bugs out. Surprisingly all we needed in the evening was the ceiling fans as it cooled down quickly at night (and I often have trouble sleeping in warm climates)

- cute little gazebo beside the cottage (although tbh, we never used it!)

- beautiful landscaping and papaya/avocado trees on the property

- owner (Maria) lives nearby in case of questions or emergency, but far away enough that you still feel private; she spent an hour giving us advice and tips for what to do in the area...very friendly!

Features that could be improved (but did not really impact the enjoyment of our stay; these are more so just suggestions):

- install a showerhead with adjustable water flow...I felt I was wasting water during my showers and it sprayed a little too close to the edge of the shower (as opposed to the centre)

- a portable or window air conditioner would have been nice just in case we had to stay inside during the day (i.e. if I got sick during the trip...which I didn't luckily). It got reaaaally hot between noon and 6pm in the unit. Didn't matter so much since we were out doing stuff during the day but if I had to be indoors during that time it may have been slightly uncomfortable (electricity is expensive in Hana so maybe this is why there isn't one)

- the bed was a bit soft. We didn't mind it so much but others might?

- get some beer glasses :)

Tips for staying in Hana: location can matter, this unit was a 30 minute drive from the start of Hana town FYI. Be opportunistic if you see food you want to try - trucks/restaurants don't always follow a regular schedule. Unless you're on the beach, you NEED bug spray. Spend AT LEAST 3 days in/near Hana - there is too much to see and do!

Mahalo for a great stay!!
