Absolutely beautiful spot, with a great host!
Maria’s cottege is elegant and still extremely homey. She made us feel very comfortable and even stopped by to give us helpful tips about spots to visit in the area, which we utilized and truly had a wonderful experience in Hana due to this. The drive down to her place is amazing and the surrounding area is breathtaking. I would stay with her again in a heartbeat! If you’re searching for a place that’s a little more remote and can offer more than just the resort-vibe (which I suggest you try!) then look no further.
The layout was perfect, we wished we had more time and energy to enjoy it!
Serene, homey cottage in beautiful location with fantastic gracious host!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nahiku cottage. Maria has thought of literally everything to make your stay very comfortable. I've not stayed at any VRBO before where the host has such dedication and thoughtfulness as to provide even sunscreen, bug spray, flashlights, a tray of condiments in the fridge, and coolers with multiple reusable ice packs in the freezer, and more! Maria is the most gracious host who effusively welcomed us on our first night, and thoroughly explained all the sights we could see from Nahiku to Hana and Ohe'o Gulch area. We ended up following her one-sheet guide for sights to see towards, in and just past Hana more than our guide books and app; it was a real treat to get an insider's suggestions, and a very pleasant surprise to see that she has stocked up on maps, pamphlets and handouts that she prepares into a small welcome packet that she provides for every guest. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the cottage -- it's cute, homey, comfortable, beautiful, clean, and well thought-out. There is also a little gazebo next door that is very comfortable and welcoming where we had breakfast one morning. I was blown away by Maria's obvious care for her guests, hospitality, and commitment to making her guests' stay as comfortable as possible. This place was a real treat in every sense of the word. I have never stayed at a VRBO that is as well-stocked and where the owner has thought of everything you could need and so responsive and thoughtful. I wish we'd have stayed more than the 3 nights we did because I could have used a "lazy day" where we'd just hung around the cottage and Nahiku Landing. Thank you Maria for your hospitality, responsiveness and graciousness! (And for even picking up Krazy Glue on your way home from Kahului to fix my broken shoes -- they made it to Haleakela crater and back home in one piece!) If you're a VRBO user and you've read this far, I hope you stay here. You will love it!
Possibly best VRBO property
Maria and the Nahiku Cottage are one of the best hostesses and rentals we have experienced. And, we have stayed in well over 50 VRBO rentals across the US. Maria's insights and suggestions on hikes, must see sites, and eateries are detailed and complete for the Hana region of Maui. Her cottage is definitely the most completely stocked and supplied VRBO we have visited. If you want to really experience Hana stay at least 4 nights. It is impossible to experience Hana on a day trip. Just make sure you purchase your food in Kahului prior to driving the Hana Highway.
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Cottage well stocked in kitchen & bathroom. Maria, the owner, very friendly and accommodating. Lots of excellent suggestions on what to do in area. Looking forward to a return visit.
Incredible and very relaxing! Maria thought of everything and welcomed us like family.
Beautiful gardens and amazing views!!! Breathtaking!!! This is our new home away from home and we plan to return, perhaps a longer stay. Hana town was fantastic and there is so much to see and enjoy! We felt totally at home in Nahiku and didn't want to leave! Mahalo
