About Mary Jane Stevens and Bob Stevens
My husband, Bob and I grew up in California and have lived in Napa where we raised our family since 1986. Between the two of us we owned and operated and interior design showroom and an automotive refinish product distributing business for about twenty five years. It was wonderful living at our Napa home because it was like going on vacation every evening after work. Every bit of stress would leave our bodies when we got to this serene setting, We are now retired and currently split our time between Napa and the town of Truckee near Lake Tahoe in the Sierras. We both enjoy the outdoors very much and between the two of us like to go to the beach, play golf, bicycle ride (road and mountain), skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, camping and many outdoor activities. We really just like to have a good time and our home reflects that. There are lots of things to do in our home from playing pool to playing horseshoes. We have lots of games and like to play them. We have a deck that wraps around our house where we can snuggle in in the overstuffed sofa or chairs and curl up with a good book. We love to cook (and eat) indoors and out in the two kitchens so we have every convenience for our culinary adventures and love to share the experience with our friends.

Why Mary Jane Stevens and Bob Stevens chose Napa
We chose this property because Napa is a wonderful place to raise a family and to work. Every time I leave the house I truly enjoy the beauty I look out at. The people here are the most hospitable I have ever known and really like to help people enjoy this lovely valley and all it has to offer. I don't think there is anyplace more conducive to entertaining and savoring good food and great wine. As soon as we moved here our relatives from near and far started making frequent visits, and who could blame them. We are so happy we chose Napa as our home and are so happy we can share it with you.
What makes this House unique
When we walked into the house the first time and saw the view from the living room our jaws dropped. Most people have the same reaction. We built our living space and deck to take full advantage of our spectacular surroundings and we enjoy it every day. I love seeing the wildlife in the yard. There is a bobcat that passes through every now and again, We have beautiful little red foxes, bunnies, racoons, possums, red shouldered hawks and owls that you can sometime see. I like to sit in the hot tub and look at the stars in the crystal clear nights sky. The vineyards are so beautiful in each and every season. In the spring time the new green leaves are the sign of new life and hope, In the summer the vineyards are lush and so beautiful when the sun comes up over the mountains and at sunset. In the fall all the warm oranges, reds and golds of the leaves are like jewelry decorating the vineyards in the soft glowing light we get that time of year when the sun is low in the sky. In the winter and the ground is black and moist with yellow mustard growing between the rows of vines it is a different kind of beautiful we enjoy.

Million Dollar View
The view captures all that Napa Valley is, the vines, the hills, the scenic peacefulness that still exits. Then you have the home.. Beautiful appointment to every detail. Lots of special spaces to enjoy with your group or to find your own space. You could park your car and never leave. We will do that next time.

Enchanting and Magical
This property is gorgeous with breathtaking views overlooking vineyards. It is private and peaceful. The home is exquisitely appointed, yet warm and comfortable. The home and grounds are immaculately kept. This is the perfect get away spot for a romantic occasion or the perfect place to stay while enjoying the wine tasting and restaurant opportunities in the Napa Valley.
We thoroughly loved our holiday in this beautiful home. The setting and views are stunning and peaceful. We would love to return!
My husband and I spent the month of August at this outstanding property. As the other reviewers have mentioned, the home is beautiful with a wonderful kitchen and all you need to use it. The views are lovely and it is very peaceful and quiet. Once back from an outing this place is so welcoming and relaxing you won't want to leave. Mary Jane was great about answering questions and arranging for services such as house cleaning.
We would recommend this property without any reservations.
Best Napa visit in 30 years
We have been visiting Napa -- off and on -- for the last 3 decades and this year we spent the month of July at Mary Jane and Bob’s home. It was the best accommodation decision we’ve made in our 30 years of travel to the Valley. We felt completely at home the minute we walked in the front door. The interior is newly finished with very high quality materials (wood floors, stone, tile, bathroom fixtures etc.). The kitchen was fully furnished – even down to the spices – which we greatly appreciated because we cooked (and grilled) almost every night. We enjoy being outdoors so we spent many hours on the expansive deck. Furnishings (inside and out) were ample and very comfortable. The views are outstanding and helped to complete this incomparable package. Our only complaint is not really a complaint, but a comment. The drive up and down the mountain is 6 miles of slower, winding road. It’s a pretty easy drive and was a benefit for us since we enjoyed the privacy -- we often look for places like this to stay. However, some may be put off by the drive. We very seldom write reviews, but this experience warranted an exception. Just go and enjoy.
My husband and I took our family out to visit Napa. We stayed at this property and could not have been more pleased. Maryjane was quick to respond to every question we had, the property itself is immaculately maintained, the grounds are just beautiful. The view off the front deck is like staring at a postcard. Every morning we wondered if we really wanted to venture off the property. Napa is a fairly quick drive down the mountain and the vineyards are easily accessible. I will stay at this property again and would suggest it to anyone so long as you have transportation. You will not be disappointed!
The Napa Valley is one of the most visited regions in California and the United States because of its beauty and the wonderful hospitality of the people who live throughout the valley and of course because of the fabulous wines that are produced there.
Starting in the City of Napa where there are a fantastic variety of tremendous restaurants and wine tasting rooms, too many to name. It is a paradise for foodies and people who just enjoy good dining opportunities alike. There are many interesting shops for people to browse in. The business community sponsors many events throughout the year such as a Farmers Market seasonally on Saturdays and Tuesdays as well as Chefs Market one evening a week late spring through early fall where there is a farmers market as well as great music, entertainment and dining. There are often live concerts in Veteran's Park. For theater and musical entertainment The Napa Opera House, The Uptown Theater and The Lincoln Theater (in Yountville) have world class entertainment year around. The Napa Fairgrounds also has concerts, like Bottle Rock which was a hit in 2013. If you've never been to a real country fair the Town and Country Fair held each August is something you may enjoy as a real change from the wine related activities. We have the Jarvis Opera School where one can sometimes catch a free performance. Our Community College has a brand new theater and puts on wonderful performances for a very reasonable ticket price. We have a brand new movie theater at the south end of town. In the Oxbow District you will find The Napa Valley Wine Train, many fabulous wine tasting rooms and the Oxbow Public Market which is a favorite among locals and visitors alike where one can find all types of food, coffee, deserts, spice market, oysters, bakery, burgers and of course wine. Our Visitors Center is a great resource for planning your day or your whole trip and is located in the Riverfront on Main Street near addition shops and eateries. There are places you can take cooking classes from our Napa Valley College campus in St. Helen which I highly recommend to privately owned schools and sometimes they are offered at the wineries.
Whether you leave Napa via Silverado Trail or Highway 29 you will pass quite a few wineries large and small all with tasting rooms where you can sample wines or take winery tours. Appointments are recommended for the tours. I suggest you do some research on the web to see what kind of activities or events the wineries will be offering during your visit so you can take full advantage of everything that will be going on.
As you leave Napa and travel north you will shortly come to Yountville where there are many wonderful shops, galleries and dining opportunities, particularly the Thomas Keller restaurants like the French Laundry, Ad Hoc, Bouchon, Bistro Jeanty and bakery. Vintage 1870 is an indoor shopping venue with many charming shops and restaurants.
during the winter holidays the entire town is beautifully lit up with Christmas lights to celebrate.
As you travel further up the valley you will pass many more wineries and the towns of Oakville, where there is a great grocery and deli you may want to visit for lunch as well as Far Niente winery with its fantastic car collection. The Town of Rutherford where there is one of my favorite restaurants The Rutherford Grill which is great for lunch or dinner and they don't charge corkage if you bring your own wine. And of course there are very nice wineries in these towns as well.
When you get to downtown St. Helena you will find a very charming town with beautiful shops, bakeries, art galleries, coffee houses , restaurants and of course wineries. There is a lovely park where you may want to rest or have a picnic. There is a small movie theater, The Cameo, where it's fun to take in a show.
The town of Calistoga is at the northern most end of the valley and has a great assortment of shops, restaurants, wineries, spas, mud baths, art galleries. The Napa County Fairgrounds are in Calistoga as well. This is where the Napa County Fair each summer. During the holiday season they have a parade with huge farm equipment that is lighted with Christmas lights and is fun for all. North of town there is a wild animal park which is fun for the whole family.
