From the patio, living room, and master bedroom of our ground-floor, corner-unit condo at Island South 4, you have a breathtaking view of dunes and sparkling ocean -- beautiful St. Augustine Beach is at your feet! Come discover this unspoiled paradise!
Island South is a small, family-friendly condominium complex right on the shores of the beach. In addition to spacious rooms and world-class views, it offers a big swimming pool with sunbathing surround, a barbecue grill, and a private boardwalk down to the beach, complete with outdoor shower. At Island South, you can be as social or secluded as you like. The scenery is magnificent, the atmosphere calm and relaxing, and all the fun of northeast Florida within easy reach!
Our condo is beautiful and well appointed, but the first place you'll fall in love with will be the patio just through the sliding-glass doors from the living and dining area. This huge covered area is perfect any time of day. Slip out here with your first cup of coffee and watch the pelicans glide out to the ocean to fish for their breakfast; sit out the warmest part of the day in cool shade with a long-anticipated novel; settle into one of the lounge chairs after an afternoon of splashing in the sea and take a well-deserved nap; bring dinner out here and discover how much better food tastes in the open air! And be sure to stargaze just before bed, when the roll of the waves creates a soothing lullaby.
When it's time to come indoors, comfort yourself with the presence of cool, comfy leather furnishings and a giant 42-inch LCD TV. Whether you've been walking the picturesque streets of the Old City or capering on the sugary sands of the beach, you will be delighted with the feel of cool tiled floors beneath your tired feet!
Island South 4 is open-plan, so the dining area and even the kitchen share the spectacular view. This keeps the group together, too. Even the cook stays in the action! And part of your group can watch a game on TV while others play Life at the dining-room table and another whips up a blender full of frosty, fruity drinks! It's nice to have enough space for everyone to spread out, while still sharing the same gorgeous view.
Cooking may not be in the cards for this vacation, but even if you're planning to dine out for many of your meals, you'll enjoy the efficiency and convenience of the kitchen at Island South 4. It's a galley-style room, with sparkling new white appliances, a tiled floor, and cupboards filled with cookware, dishes, and utensils. Ice and water are in the door of the freezer, a microwave stands ready to reheat those fabulous leftovers, and a coffeemaker gets every day off to a nice start. If you're a foodie, you'll love working in this kitchen, and if not, you'll love how quickly you can get in and out!
You'll enjoy the living and dining area at Island South 4, but your favorite place inside the condo will probably be the bedrooms. St. Augustine has so much to do and see that you'll come home tired after each new adventure, and there's nothing like a great night's sleep to refresh you for the next day's events. All of the linens and towels are provided for you here, we have plenty of extras, and everyone is going to sleep well!
The master suite is palatial, with a king-sized bed, flat-screen TV, and door leading out to the patio, so that you have ocean views even from the bed! One entire wall is sliding-glass doors, while a window on another wall gives you views in two directions. The en-suite bathroom contains both a shower and tub option, and is wonderfully private.
The second bedroom is perfect for a second couple traveling with you or for children. It contains both a double and a twin bed, plus a TV and a reading chair. This room shares a full bathroom with the living area. Feel free to use our washer and dryer to keep all those swimsuits and beach towels fresh, and bring your electronics if you like -- you have free WiFi at Island South 4.
You're going to love it here! Make your reservation today.

Could use some updating, but great location on the property, and overall comfy and inviting.
As others have noted, this place could use some TLC; it seems a bit dated, but the unit was clean and tidy when we arrived. The kitchen is by no means "gourmet," as claimed in the description, but it serves its purpose. The dining table and livingroom furniture are nice and comfortable enough, as is the master bed. Both hubby and I are super sensitive to firmer, uncomfortable beds, and this king-size worked out just fine. The twin bed in the second bedroom was also reported as comfortable. The full size bed wasn't used, but it seemed "noisy" and not as comfy just sitting on it. The AC in the unit worked great, and all the appliances (washer/dryer, fridge, TV's, etc.) worked as expected. It was more than comfortable for 3 adults.
It was wonderful being able to step out of the unit and be feet away from the boardwalk to the beach, as well as the pool just around the side of the building. The patio is nice and big and great if, like me, you can't be in the sun too much. You can see the ocean just over the dunes if you are standing, though the dunes, themselves are also nice to look at.
Now a couple of minor negatives: The master shower didn't work (not that we could get it to, anyway). It sounds as though the water is going up the pipe, but never came out of the shower head. So, it was a pain to use the other shower, but not enough that we wanted to be bothered by maintenance coming to look at it. There was a livingroom lamp (not the bulb, the lamp) and the patio light that never worked. The master bedroom patio slider was not functional, in that the latch/lock is broken (I had read about this in another review, so still an issue). It required a stick wedged at the bottom of the door to secure it. We left the stick in place and never used it.
All in all, we had a great stay. I'd go back to this particular unit. It was convenient enough to downtown and had grocery stores, coffee, and restaurants nearby.
Property was ok but then the rain caused major issues.
We arrived & the torrential rains began shortly thereafter. This caused significant flooding on the whole island but also it came into the condo & caused all of the floor tiles to start popping out. We called maintenance to alert them & they came & assessed. We were concerned for the owners. No one contacted us to at least offer us a price reduction or even a thank you. The damage to their home from the rains was significant. A gesture of thanks as well as some sort of compensation would have been nice. Even an offer for 2 nights some other time would be appreciated.
Also, we had to call the police while there because there were people parked next to condo for the entire day & night that were really messed up -doing drugs/drinking. A little scary for a family to deal with.
Nice week in St Augustine
The condo was basic. Beds were nice and living room furniture was nice--somewhat new. TV's good. But no thrills for sure, very basic. The kitchen is in much need of an upgrade. Minimal everything. 5 plates, 5 forks, misc glasses and no cooking equipment to say. Owner needs to upgrade the kitchen in general. Had to run the dishwasher way more then necessary just to wash the 5 plates. Not enough to serve a family of 5 breakfast in the morning. But overall had a great week and would definitely come back to St Augustine.
Rented two different places at Island South and loved it. This one not so much.
Although I have been to Island South twice before this time and loved it, this place was a bit of a let down. First, Vacation Rental Pros is not very good at informing the customer of the place he is renting. My other units were different rental co's. We get there and the WiFi access stated in their letter does not work. In fact, they listed it as AT&T and it was Xfinity. They got it fixed after two hours on our first day.
Next day we go to use the washing machine and it is filled with dirty water! We call and get an answering service (Sunday). We leave a message and no one calls back. We call again on Monday and they say "oh yes, there is a note on file that states a new washing machine will be installed at a later date". You think they would have told us or made an adjustment to our rent.
And by the way, I vacuumed on arrival day as the place was dirty!
The place is on the bottom floor and the patio was very dirty, with cob webs and spider webs everywhere. Plus red ants all over that bite so don't go out with bare feet.
And the "available local phone" was not available! The complimentary "startup" supplies of paper goods and soap is a joke! One roll of toilet paper! One small roll of paper towels and the smallest bottle of dish detergent and a few pods of dishwasher soap. No dish scrubber.
Also no hairdryer. And I will give you bonus points to figure out how to get the shower to work in the master bedroom!
Again - I love Island South. It is the perfect spot and very quite and small with a great entrance to the beach and lovely pool. I will go back, just not this unit and not this rental outfit. I will go up a floor or two. No more bottom floor units for me.
Management Company Screw-Ups!
This is a wonderful location, right on the sand! The condo is an older unit, crying out for re-hab. The master bed was good, but the second bedroom mattresses were terrible. Kitchen utensils were dirty, the toaster didn't work, and dishes were mismatched. Salt air had corroded the window handle so badly that it snapped off in my hand. After a long day of travel, we arrived after dark to find that we couldn't get in, because the management company had given us the wrong door code. Calls to emergency after-hours numbers finally got us the right number, but being locked out in the dark was no fun! The management company said we had to then drive to their office that night, access a lock-box, and get a key card for the beach gate. Although exhausted, we drove south only to find an empty lock-box! No beach gate card. The next morning, a maintenance man told us the number code to the beach. There was no gate key card at all! The management company is understaffed, leading to long hold times, and their personnel are incompetent.
It was perfect!
This was a perfect place to vacation with my 4 girls! Will definitely be back!
