Springwild is a three-acre property at the end of Boyer ln, where it's quiet. It is surrounded by open fields that roll to the Rio Fernando and it's red willows, thousands of migratory birds and mountain views that will take your breath away. The colors at the edge of the day is what brings artists to Taos and the views of the Sangre de Cristo at sunset are incredible. Springwild is perfect for your family vacation or family reunion, wedding parties, couples getaway, friends retreat, or for an artist or writer looking for peace and quiet.
The house was built by artist, sculptor, architect, landscape artist, philosopher, gardener, dietitian, cook, poet and steward..... Malcolm Brown (1925-2003). He described life at SpringWild as an experiment in transition to a world of peace, happiness and fulfillment for all.
The unique structure of the Main House is brimming with detailed woodwork of a craftsman. This is not your ordinary house, the longer you're here the more you see. The whole south/east side of the house is windows. When the sun rises over the Canyon Saddle it brings the morning suns warm rays into the kitchen... a great morning spot.
The ground floor consists of the living area, full gourmet kitchen, one bathroom, one Master bedroom and the laundry room. Up a short flight of stairs next to the laundry room is a private bedroom with a view of everything, the kitchen garden, the pastures, the Rio, out to the mountains.
The second level of the house holds two beautiful built-in king size beds lined by windows overlooking the property. To get to this level you climb up a ladder type stairway with railings. You may sit on the veranda outside of this room to relax and enjoy the mountain view.
Up another ladder on the third level is a cozy queen-sized sleeping area surrounded by windows, perfect for star gazing. The kids love this room. From here a stairway leads up to a warm, single person meditation room.
Just a few steps outside the main house is the 'Bath House'. This is a full bathroom, heated and carpeted with a beautiful mosaic shower/tub, toilet, sink and a large dressing area. The Bath House is shared with other people living on the property.
There is a large area right outside the kitchen with a big table, umbrella, BBQ, bar area, croquet pitch and sunset Taos Mountain views. During the summer enjoy eggs from our chickens and fresh vegetables from our organic garden. You will love this enchanted place.

I worked at a Sacred Heart school in California for 23 years. During that time I chaperoned a group of high school students on a trip to Taos. I fell in love with the beauty of the land and the pace of life here. When I found this property I knew it was a special place and had to be shared with others.
Dan purchased this House in 2005
Why Dan chose Taos
We love this property because we are surrounded by nature and open fields with a view of the mountains. We are also only five minutes from town.

Fabulous, unique, spacious and comfortable place to stay. Loved our time there and would definitely rent again on our next trip to Taos.
Wonderfully original home in a gorgeous setting with easy access to town and the natural surroundings. The house was super clean and Dan/Diane were helpful and kind hosts.
beautiful and relaxing
This was our third time to stay at this unique property. We love Taos, and Springwild is a beautiful place. It is conveniently located to be close to everything in Taos but very quiet and rural at the same time. It has such gorgeous views and comfortable amenities that sometimes we just stay in and relax. Dan and Dianne are lovely hosts and interesting people, and they have created a wonderful environment. The calm is palpable here, and it is beautiful in all seasons. We love it and will return!
Funky, comfortable, beautiful house in Taos
My husband and I just stayed here with his sister for 5 nights in June. Diane and Dan are the consummate hosts, providing a stay with everything renters could want. This historical Taos house was built by an artist, then added on to by the owners. There are bedrooms downstairs, upstairs and up ladders, with beds to sleep 10. Relaxing living and dining areas, with a very well stocked kitchen There is art and interesting touches throughout the house. And then the outside--a farm with veggies and fresh eggs, friendly dogs, a koi pond, and a very fantastic view of farmlands and the mountains. We enjoyed having breakfast and dinner outside on the picnic table. But mainly, this is a house that allows you to enjoy the Taos lifestyle to the max. Highly recommended.
Spectacular views and thoughtful owners
We had a great time at Springwild House. We had fun exploring the house and property. The weather was cold but the house was warm. Dan & Diane would have the fire going for us and even left snacks a time or two. They were wonderful. Staying there helped our vacation be more relaxing & comfortable like a true vacation should be. :). It is a place we would like to stay when we return to Taos.
What an amazing home on a beautiful piece of land! From the house, to the gardens, to all of the animals on the property, our expectations were met and surpassed! What a great fall weekend in beautiful Taos! Cannot wait to visit again.
