Springwild is a three-acre property at the end of Boyer ln, where it's quiet. It is surrounded by open fields that roll to the Rio Fernando and it's red willows, thousands of migratory birds and mountain views that will take your breath away. The colors at the edge of the day is what brings artists to Taos and the views of the Sangre de Cristo at sunset are incredible. Springwild is perfect for your family vacation or family reunion, wedding parties, couples getaway, friends retreat, or for an artist or writer looking for peace and quiet.
The house was built by artist, sculptor, architect, landscape artist, philosopher, gardener, dietitian, cook, poet and steward..... Malcolm Brown (1925-2003). He described life at SpringWild as an experiment in transition to a world of peace, happiness and fulfillment for all.
The unique structure of the Main House is brimming with detailed woodwork of a craftsman. This is not your ordinary house, the longer you're here the more you see. The whole south/east side of the house is windows. When the sun rises over the Canyon Saddle it brings the morning suns warm rays into the kitchen... a great morning spot.
The ground floor consists of the living area, full gourmet kitchen, one bathroom, one Master bedroom and the laundry room. Up a short flight of stairs next to the laundry room is a private bedroom with a view of everything, the kitchen garden, the pastures, the Rio, out to the mountains.
The second level of the house holds two beautiful built-in king size beds lined by windows overlooking the property. To get to this level you climb up a ladder type stairway with railings. You may sit on the veranda outside of this room to relax and enjoy the mountain view.
Up another ladder on the third level is a cozy queen-sized sleeping area surrounded by windows, perfect for star gazing. The kids love this room. From here a stairway leads up to a warm, single person meditation room.
Just a few steps outside the main house is the 'Bath House'. This is a full bathroom, heated and carpeted with a beautiful mosaic shower/tub, toilet, sink and a large dressing area. The Bath House is shared with other people living on the property.
There is a large area right outside the kitchen with a big table, umbrella, BBQ, bar area, croquet pitch and sunset Taos Mountain views. During the summer enjoy eggs from our chickens and fresh vegetables from our organic garden. You will love this enchanted place.

I worked at a Sacred Heart school in California for 23 years. During that time I chaperoned a group of high school students on a trip to Taos. I fell in love with the beauty of the land and the pace of life here. When I found this property I knew it was a special place and had to be shared with others.
Dan purchased this house in 2005
We love this property because we are surrounded by nature and open fields with a view of the mountains. We are also only five minutes from town.
What an amazing home on a beautiful piece of land! From the house, to the gardens, to all of the animals on the property, our expectations were met and surpassed! What a great fall weekend in beautiful Taos! Cannot wait to visit again.
I brought my mom and son who is going on 3 for a weekend getaway, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The property was clean and friendly with welcoming dogs, chickens, and humans, and the view was serene.. The house was also exceptionally clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated. Diana was wonderful and provided us with fresh eggs...so tasty.. Town wasn't far but I really had no desire to leave. My son loved climbing the ladders and running in the fields. Hope to return.
Dan was always available, the property was beautiful, and we couldn't have asked for more!
Our family (five adults and two children) spent a week here and had a wonderful time. Our hosts were great. The house is unique. It's rustic, sophisticated, rambling, playful, romantic--an architectural fantasy. The master bedroom is on the ground level, and other bedrooms and sleeping areas require stairs. Our youngest granddaughter said it was like sleeping in a treehouse. Outside are open spaces, a large garden, and a fabulous view of nearby mountains. The location feels rural, but it's a five minute drive to the center of Taos. This property is an excellent choice.
At first sight the house has a whimsical "fairy-tale" appearance. It's filled with architectural and design "eye candy".
The hospitality of Dan and Diane makes you feel like family within minutes. Add to this magical mix the beauty of the surrounding mountains and Springwild is a little slice of Eden.
Most different vacation home that our family has stayed at in the past several years! Yes, the house is very unique, but the back yard, the view of the mountains, etc., were just as great. However, the best part of all was the hospitality afforded us by Dan and Diane! They were awesome owners/hosts. Our grandchildren, (both age 3+), really enjoyed the resident chickens, and the outdoor area, and they really enjoyed the week spent at Springwild. We all loved the resident ambassador, Hobbs! What a great dog...
