Centro Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Riverside Old Town Pto Vallarta LARGE, Light, Airy, Rare Charm of Old Mexico

CASA DEL PUENTE right on the River Cuale in the old town/ Downtown Pto Vallarta.

One of a kind charm in the heart of Vallarta.

Location is right in the center of "Downtown & Old Town" you'll be on the river - not on a busy noisy street & no hills! Super location - out your windows is the river and the trees along the island. Just walk out entrance to curb and you’re 3 blocks to the Malecon (no hills).

Casa del Puente was designed by Fernando Romero one of famed Mexican Architects who created what is known as the 'Vallarta' architectural style. The house is designed to take in the river, island and hillside views and natural river breezes along the Rio Cuale. Perfect if you’re looking for the charm of 'old' Mexico”. Fully furnished, well equipped kitchen. Large & Spacious, open living room, high ceilings, lots of natural light, vistas of river and surrounding hillsides, patios overlooking the river and trees below.

Includes M-Sat maid service, all utilities and fastest fiber optic wifi available in downtown Vallarta.

We are located on the Rio Cuale right in the heart of "old town". Three blocks to Vallarta's waterfront famous malecon (seawall), four blocks to the Main Plaza/Church, great restaurants, groceries, bank and super easy to catch Taxi's as well.

Large bedrooms with either a King or two twins and en-suite bath

Fully equipped kitchen. Cable TV, Fridge, stove, blender, toaster oven , coffeemaker & coffee grinder, microwave, nice silverware, dishes and pots and pans + etc.

Great views of the river and the surrounding hillsides from the bedroom and living room areas. High ceilings with lots of light from the wall of windows overlooking the Rio Cuale including occasional close up views of the Iguanas that live in the surrounding trees.

Nicely furnished & well-appointed with the charm of old Mexico. Quality bedding, pillows and towels. Enjoy the river views, lush trees right in the heart of Old Town but quiet and peaceful. Situated right on the river vs. a street or main road so you will not hear the street noise of buses or trucks . Easy walking distance to many of the best restaurants in Vallarta and the main Malecon/Boardwalk.

Quotes from recent guests:

July 2014 - Beautiful, tranquil, perfect - A wonderful place to stay, especially if you are looking for the flavor of Mexico. (as opposed to cookie-cutter resort living.) LARGE with fully equipped kitchen. In the center of Old Town and close to everything you might need. I am a solo woman traveler and felt 100% safe. The Casa del Puente is a rare find.

2012: “Location A+; Cleanliness A+; Privacy A+; Price A+!” This was probably our seventh visit to Casa del Puente. It's like coming home - a warm welcome, you get a key to the front gate, there is a grocery store a block away, and so many good restaurants and things to do. The price is eminently fair, and the service is delightful. You have a full kitchen - blender for margaritas, coffee maker, stove with all utensils, and plenty of books left by previous happy visitors. You don't have the stuffy hotel feeling (it's right on the River Cuale, with iguanas in the trees and the river sounds to lull you to sleep). This place will be one that you will remember and wish that you had spent more time here

May 2016 "second visit"

Even better than the first time. Enjoyed the serenity and privacy of the upper floor apartment. After 5 days it truly felt like home. We had a girls retreat for my 40th birthday, Casa Del Puente is my happy place and I thank the owners for sharing their home.

My daughter and I went to PV to attend a Spanish immersion class. We wanted to stay somewhere that would augment our experience and this place was perfect. We rented the 2 bedroom apartment and this is no slick, modern condo, this place was a throwback to a simpler and romantic time but also has WiFI and a big screen TV. The architecture is classic and with the rustic stucco walls, cool tile floors, colorful ceramic décor and bright fabrics covering the furniture and beds, this is the quintessential Mexican experience.

April 2014 – A great escape, Mexican elegant chic - From the minute we arrive, we just couldn't get over how incredibly beautiful the place was. We had read the reviews, and seen the photos, but it was really much more than we ever expected. Everything about the apartment was airy, open and conformable. The views of the mountains & foliage are stunning. The apartment had everything you could need for a long stay. We were there for a week. It is located in the heart of Puerto Vallarta. We could walk everywhere , Beaches, clubs, some really incredible restaurants .(Joe Jack's Fish Shack).

The staff was very sweet and friendly.

Our trip and stay at Casa Del Puente, was the real deal. A great relaxing Mexican vacation.

Quote from Puerto Vallarta Handbook says it all- Moon publishing:

'Antiques and art adorn the spacious, high-beamed-ceiling rooms, while outside its windows and around the decks great trees spread, tropical birds flit and chatter, jungle hills rise, and the river gurgles, hidden from the city hubbub nearby.'

About Manager Casa Del Puente

Mollie Muir is the owner of Casa Del Puente. Her first visit to Vallarta was in 1962 on vacation with her parents, Evelyn and John and her three children Jay, Susan and Maria. They fell in love with Vallarta which at the time was a sleepy little fishing village. So much so that Mollie's parents decided to build a second home in Vallarta. She is the grand niece of John Muir, Naturalist.

Manager Casa Del Puente purchased this apartment in 1968

Why Manager Casa Del Puente chose Downtown (Viejo Vallarta)

Puerto Vallarta is just charming and beautiful. The climate is fantastic. The location of Casa Del Puente allows you to walk anywhere with minutes, the beach, restaurants, grocery stores, shopping - all within three blocks.

Casa del Puente was designed by Fernando Romero who is one of the famed architects of what is known as the Puerto Vallarta Style. These apartments are very unique in itheir design of space - open and airy enjoying the views and breezes of the Rio Cuale.

What makes this apartment unique

It's like being in 'old mexico' and you're in the center of town. Also, since we're right on the river you don't get the street noise you would get elsewhere. The views of the trees and the nice sounds of the river are quite unique.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The beauty and spacious architecture of old Vallarta is right here in this casa. It is large and comfortable with high ceilings, stone and brick walls, light and airy with large terraces overlooking the Rio Cuale and the iguanas in the trees. Kitchen fully and well equiped, lots of restaurants and shops nearby and the big artisan market across the street. Fun place to stay. I highly recommend he very charming Casa ded Puente. Great stay alongside the river

  • 5 of 5

Casa Del Puente, perched on a hillside, hanging two stories over the Rio Cuale. A charming 3 apartment, mini-villa with pleasant balcony views of both the iguana laden edge-of-the-jungle riverbanks and slices of the old city beyond...

I visited during the rainy, off-season. Sunlight mixed w/clouds. Pleasantly hot during daylight hours, lower at night. It felt as though naturally river-cooled air is wafting up, rendering the abode most enjoyable. Many of the rooms in the charming boutique hotel, are partially open to the elements, enhancing this effect, with a tropical touch.

Nice strolling distance from the beaches, it's entrance is tucked up behind a local eatery, right on the edge of the old city, street food abundant and tasty, within blocks and the locals neighborhoods just uphill, if you tire of the more touristy hotel strip along the beachfront.

They have good Wi-Fi access, which came in handy each morning as I followed my local teams during their stretch runs toward the world series, as well as researching local venues. There are also well equipped kitchens, for when you want to whip up a quick meal from the nearby local markets, and fresh fish stalls a few blocks away. TV and DVD players make comfortable late night entertainment if you're too worn out for, (or from), the club scene along the Malecon.

Beaches within walking distance range from the bring-your-own-picnic to the rent-a-lounge-chair with full service styles. I spent many a Happy Hour swimming in the warm waters and topping off my fluids with a few chilled cervezas.

The apartments have a maid during daylight hours to make beds and offer basic laundry service as well as keeping the place spiffed up. It's an older dwelling which adds to the charm, especially during night time rain storms when the water is running off the eaves and the spectacular lightning shows light up the sky outside.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Casa del Puente with it's old school charms. I look forward to my return yearly visit.

We were looking for a property that was close to the Malecon and have space enough for multiple family members. What a gem Casa Del Puente is! Beautiful property, close to everything! We will definitely be going back!

Quintessential Mexican Charm

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I went to PV to attend a Spanish immersion class. We wanted to stay somewhere that would augment our experience and this place was perfect. We rented the 2 bedroom apartment and this is no slick, modern condo, this place was a throwback to a simpler and romantic time but also has WiFI and a big screen TV. The architecture is classic and with the rustic stucco walls, cool tile floors, colorful ceramic décor and bright fabrics covering the furniture and beds, this is the quintessential Mexican experience. The kitchen is large, the dining room table is huge and the maid service impeccable, the place is white glove clean. The maid even did laundry for us for a small extra fee. The air pull thru system that was originally built into to each room, still works magic with the natural drafts and no A/C is needed. We actually used our blankets at night. As we sat on one of three decks, we watched the birds, butterflies, iguanas as the river rolled by and felt the world slow down. Despite how private and secluded the apartment is, Old Town PV is just footsteps away. The beach, the Malecon, restaurants galore and tons of shopping are just a short walk in any direction. A must do is the Día de los Muertos Brewery and Pizza restaurant (slice of pizza, salad and a microbrew beer $5 US), or the corner chicken place (2 blocks south after you cross the bridge and on the right corner) where you can get a whole rotisserie chicken, grilled potatoes and peppers, fresh tortillas and salsa in a big plastic baggie for only $2.75. The Chocolate, Coffee and Cigar store across the street has an amazing choice of breakfasts for less than $5 and you can sit and watch them hand roll cigars while you eat. Want to stock up at Walmart or go outside of the Romantic district, Taxis are always out front and are super cheap and the bus stops right out front, too! The locale is also very safe. We saw lots of women walking home from work after 10PM. We stayed out until 2 AM several nights (excellent nightlife) and never felt unsafe walking back to the apartment. I've rented dozens of VRBO's around the world and this ranks high on my list. I can't wait to go back again.

Jungle in the city

  • 5 of 5

The location of this gorgeous, very comfortable house is perfect in the heart of Old Town Puerto Vallarta. Yet we felt like we were in a jungle. We could see and hear the river Cuale and watch resident iguanas in the trees adjacent to the property. I happily recommend this house to anyone coming to PV who wants to be able to walk easily to amenities--shops, restaurants, markets. The host has a very complete directory, with map, making it easy to find everything. I would return in a flash.

Warm and welcoming

  • 5 of 5

Photos capture the true image of this wonderful home. Traditional old Vallarta design. In the family for generations, the history is fascinating. The owner goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. You are in the heart of old PV. Walking to any location within 10 minutes. A fountain at the entrance blocks out any traffic noise from the street. Rooms are spacious and elegant. The patios are perfect for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Cleaning daily by wonderful staff. I'll be back.

Spectacular Puerto Vallarta

  • 5 of 5

In the heart of Puerto Vallarta is an amazing accommodation that has to be seen and experienced to be believed. Casa de Puente is just above the Cuale with all of its wildlife-beautiful birds, reptiles (harmless, beautiful lizards) that live in the trees adjacent to the patio. The main room with full kitchen is appointed with fantastic, classic Mexican fabrics, tiles and artifacts collected over the years by the principal owners. Located in the heart of the city, just barely a 10 minute walk from beaches, restaurants, and shopping. This is the real Puerto Vallarta. If you want to be in he heart of this active, bustling, creative community and support the local economy, Stay here. Do not hesitate. Book straight away. You will be glad you did.
