NEW FOR 2017! We have combined the best of both worlds..step back in time yet still have all the modern comforts.

UPGRADE HIGHLIGHTS: Our kitchen has been renovated to include new stove, dishwasher, more counter space and with breakfast bar. For the outside, a new privacy fence, landscaping and a new staircase to the dock. For those with electronic devices, we upgraded all the electricity to accommodate more outlets in convenient locations.

Take a step back in time at this authentic log cabin built in the early 1900's. Stone fireplace, original wood floors, tastefully decorated with interesting antique furniture and accessories that remind you of fishing in the North woods. The cabin sits only 30 feet from the shores of 1536 acre Prairie Lake, one of a chain of 3800 acre Chetek chain of lakes. Beautiful lot with towering pines and spacious yard. 150 ft of private level frontage, with two private docks and sandy bottom great for swimming.

Watch the wildlife, fishermen, and skiers, from the large enclosed front porch 30 ft from water’s edge. Unique location on the lake allows you to view both sunrise and gorgeous sunsets. Gaze at the moon and stars reflecting off the water as you relax by the evening campfire. Across the lake lies "Horseshoe Cove", public land with beautiful trees, no houses and great fishing.

Recently renovated kitchen and bath gives you modern conveniences. One car garage plumbed with hot and cold water, for fish cleaning. Public boat landing located right next door for easy entry into the chain. Recently added flagstone patio with fire pit, picnic table and chairs makes for fantastic, relaxing, evenings by the camp fire.

WIFI is included, Firewood is included, a vintage row boat is yours to use. We have configured this cabin, and everything around and in it, to transport you into instant vacation mode.

When you arrive, don't unpack...walk to the lake and take a deep breath and smell the fresh pine, feel the breeze off the lake and get ready to relax. You will not be disappointed! Please call Jenny at 630-801-8918 or for reduced rates!!

About Jenny Jankovsky

Our family has been vacationing at the Chetek chain of lakes for 5 generations and have such great memories of the place and the people. We love to boat, fish and entertain our friends and family, the chain is the perfect place for that!

Jenny Jankovsky purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Jenny Jankovsky chose Chetek

We have been looking for vacation home for years and even bought some land at one time with the intention to build our perfect getaway. Although Chetek is 5 hours from home, we kept thinking why would we vacation someplace else? When we came across this log cabin we instantly feel in love with it. Our plan was to build a log cabin but why do that, this cabin was perfect, well-built, right on the water with a great history.

What makes this cabin unique

When we saw large farmhouse table on the porch/dining area we knew this was our place. We pictured our boys, friends and family playing games on this table while we sat nearby enjoying the view of the water.

The log construction was original, quality and aged and had that smell that only a log cabin can have. It reminded us of our childhood when we visited Chetek or spent time in our parents lake home. We wanted our children to have that same experience and a place they could build memories to keep them coming back to Chetek for years to come.

The large, level lot, beautiful pine trees with at awesome pine smell made it easy to see us enjoying the day here. We also wanted a place with easy access to the lake, and dock, so older members of our family could easily get to the boat for a ride.

We added the large flagstone patio so we could setup chairs and build fires without the fear of catching anything on fire. It also helps keep the dirt in the house down to a minimum.

Lastly, we loved the location on Prairie Lake, farther up to avoid too much boat traffic and ample places for fishing and boating. The narrow lake area to the South is great for water skiing as the water tends to be smoother. Please call Jenny at 630-801-8918 or for reduced rate!

Awesome Place, Authentic Cabin Feel

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved this gem on Prairie Lake! It was easy to find, conveniently located near a boat launch. The decor was amazing! We felt like we were home! The beds were comfortable. The dock was great for boat docking, as well as fishing and swimming. There were so many wonderful touches that made the stay over the top! There were plenty of indoor and outdoor activities for the kids. It was nice and peaceful to sit at the fire pit (wood provided) at night, and in the Adirondack chairs in the morning as the sun rose.

This is an amazing and well cared for property and we can't wait to return to this lovely cabin! Thank you for sharing your lovely home on the lake!

Beautiful setting!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week at the cabin!! The cabin was the real deal...authentic with modern amenities. Loved the vintage details. The close proximity to the water a plus!! The patio was inviting and the first few nights were perfect for a fire. Very clean and comfortable!! Thankful for the fans in the garage as it was pretty warm and humid the end of our trip. We fished everyday, but were not too lucky. Caught a handful of crappie. The back room with all the windows was beautiful & sunsets amazing. We enjoyed our time and look forward to returning!

We had a great vacation!. The cabin was great!. All the comforts of home. My boys had a great time playing on the lake. My husband and myself enjoyed sitting on the dock taking in the view. The owners were great to work with. We would definitely recommend and stay there again.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for a week of fishing and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved how clean, cozy, and rustic the cabin is and how tastefully it is decorated. We cooked most of our meals in the fully-equipped kitchen or cooked out on the charcoal grill. Since there is no oven, I suggested to the owners that a crockpot would be nice. My husband especially liked the awesome fish-cleaning area inside the garage. The convenience of having our own private dock was an added plus, not to mention the boat launch right next to the cabin. Since there were no electrical outlets on the dock to charge our trolling motor, we ran a couple of extension cords down from the cabin with no problem (the owner plans to add electrical outlets to the dock in the future).

The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. The bathroom was small, but had a new sink/vanity and shower which were very nice. There were no electrical outlets in the bathroom, so luckily I had brought my make-up mirror and plugged it in at the desk right off the kitchen area (gotta look good for the fish!)

The owners were very nice and responsive to our questions and patient enough to stay on the phone with us to give us turn-by-turn directions when our GPS sent us to a cornfield when we were initially trying to find the cabin.

As far as the fishing was great. We caught just about every species the lake offers.....crappie, bass, bluegill, Northern, walleye; and unfortunately, 1 dogfish which we thought was a channel cat at first until we had a chance to take a closer look.

We highly recommend this cabin and we plan to return in the near future.

Beautiful cottage, great fishing, great place to relax.

  • 5 of 5

We have been vacationing in Chetek for many years. This is our 2nd year at this cottage. The fishing is good all over Chetek, but you can have great fishing right in front of the cottage. The sunsets are outstanding. The log cabin cottage is beautiful. I would highly recommend this cottage for your next visit to Chetek.
