About Neill & Michele Fitzpatrick

We are a Canadian couple and we have chosen our Guayabitos home to use when we can and to share with others when we can't be there. We have decorated and equipped the home with everything you will need to be comfortable. We hope that our guests will respect and enjoy our home.

Why Neill & Michele Fitzpatrick chose La Penita

We chose this house because of its location. It's close to the ocean (you can let the waves lull you to sleep!) and it's close to many amenities both along the beach and in nearby downtown Guayabitos. Another community, La Penita, is a 20 minute walk or short taxi ride away. Guayabitos and La Penita are both Mexican communities but each attracts a good number of Canadian snowbirds each winter.

What makes this house unique

Our home is located on a quiet street with a mix of homes owned by Canadians and Mexicans. It's the perfect spot because of its proximity to the beach and the many beach-front restaurants. You can also watch the sunset on the rooftop patio as you enjoy a drink with your dinner.

the perfect fit for our honeymoon

  • 4 of 5

We found this house to be the perfect fit for our honeymoon stay in Guayabitos. It's clean, comfortable, and quite big!

The beach is so close! It's perfect for boogie boarding and relaxing. There are a bunch of quaint, delicious and affordable restaurants along the beach front. (Juan's was our fav!) The view is beautiful. The view from The Vista (a restaurant) on the edge of Guayabitos, is a must see. The fish tacos there were unbeatable!

The beach is also very clean and wasn't busy, when we were there.

Other towns to explore are close by as well. I would recommend this place any day!

This is a beautiful, clean home, just 100 steps away from the ocean.

Lots to see and do in the area. And the neighbourhood is full of friendly people.

I would go back in a heartbeat!

Peace, Quiet & Relaxation- The perfect De-Stressor

  • 5 of 5

I went to Mexico needing a revitalizing vacation. After getting in touch with Michele, I instantly was hooked up to the point of Michele even arranging a reliable and well known cab driver to pick me up at the airport. With all the shared contact information it was very easy to find him and my trip was stress free right from the get go.

As soon as I got to Guayubitos, the driver even courteously made stops to sit on the beach so I could have a snack and a drink since I was hungry from the flights. He was so friendly and kind.

As soon as we arrived at the house, the neighbour also greeted me right away and generously went for dinner with me to show me the town, as I had not yet gotten groceries due to the time I arrived. He then brought me the following day to a nearby market to get some groceries for the week. Needless to say that all my first impressions of the people were incredible. The fact that a young girl travelling to Mexico by herself felt safe and cared for by everyone I met says it all about the amazing hosts that Michele, Neil, and the folks of Guayobitos are. The house was beautiful and had stunning Mexican charm to it. The yard is beautiful and from the upper patio you can see and hear the ocean.

Each day I would walk to the beach (it took 30 seconds) and I would go hangout and relax. It was very quiet and most importantly, relaxing!! If I was hungry, i'd either walk back to the house to get a quick bite, sample some of the food cart foods, or go have a drink and a bite at one of the beachfront restaurants (all delicious). Michele also got me in touch with a friend from the city who her family has gotten to know over their time in Mexico and he offered to show me around town one of the evenings as well. Yet again, the generosity of everyone I met was astounding.

Michele had also suggested a variety of other things to do; I used the boogie boards a lot, went to two different markets (beautiful glassware there), checked out some AMAZING restaurants- one of them was a neat little swap books/ restaurant with amazing food. All the things I did were based on the suggestions Michele offered. This was honestly the most relaxing and revitalizing trip I have ever taken- and for it to go so smoothly when I booked it all last minute speaks volumes to the hosts.

I will definitely be returning to this home. If you want quiet relaxation this is THE place to do it :) Thx Michele+ Neil!!

Quality Rental / Beutiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

I find a treasure every time I travel to Mexico and this house was it for the 2014-15 season! My short stay was to be a stop gap before my long term rental was available, but it turned out to be life changing. The hosts and owners have since become close friends - very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable of the locale. Together we enjoyed Ron's yummy Strawberry Margaritas at sunset on the scenic rooftop patio, dined at fun, fine restaurants like Juan's on the Beach and the Vista Guayabitos overlooking the Jaltemba Bay as well as visited the local sights like the Tiangus Market in La Penita and the Jungle Boat Tour in San Blas. We also enjoyed the meals prepared in the well equipped kitchen and served in the comfortable dining room from our local fish/seafood and fresh produce purchases followed by rousing card games. The house is well situated in a safe neighbourhood which is steps from the beach and close to downtown nightlife ( El Rodeo, Cultural Activities in the Plaza) while still offering rest and tranquility in the evenings. I appreciated the homey, tastefully decorated decor and the thoughtful, flexible room arrangements - perfect for many rental situations. This is a great place to stay!
