Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms w/queen beds + Queen sleeper sofa, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Our beach cottage is just across the street from the ocean and conveniently located to the beach access. The home boasts ceramic tile, hardwood flooring and newer furnishings throughout. All three bedrooms have queen beds. There is also a queen sleeper sofa in the back family room .

The many windows in the living room/dining room/ kitchen area creates a bright and airy openness. The 3 bedrooms are spacious enough to easily accommodate a queen size bed, dresser and night stand and closet. The Master bedroom has it own roomy bathroom area.

The extra room at the back of the house provides the kids a place to romp & play games while the grownups relax and enjoy their own space in the comfortable living room.

Only a mile north you will find the Kure Beach Ocean Front Park located on Atlantic Avenue, near the Kure Beach Fishing Pier and fronts the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. This park houses an expansive pavilion, public restrooms, a kiddie play area with pirate ship and park benches and swings and hosts music concerts, open air markets, and other entertainment venues.

Joe Eakes Park, located off K Avenue on South 7th Avenue, contains tennis, basketball and bocce ball courts, baseball field, Disc Golf Course, playground, dog park and a shaded picnic area.

For a great lunch or dinner within a mile of the house try some of the local restaurants (Jack Mackerl's, Big Daddy's and Freddie's are by the Kure Beach Fishing Pier).

Visit the NC Aquarium, Fort Fisher Civil War museum or hop on the ferry and stroll around Southport and peruse the shops for hidden treasures. You can also catch a ferry at Southport and visit the famous lighthouse on Bald Head Island.

Looking for a little more excitement? Check out some of the Carolina Beach night spots available, take a walk on the boardwalk, ride the ferris wheel, eat a famous Britt's donut, etc. Or, drive into Wilmington for a little more cultural exposure, great restaurants along the Cap Fear River, and a variety of entertainment.

You could begin your day with the smell of the salt air and sound of the ocean as you enjoy a cup of coffee while lounging on the wrap around deck or take your coffee and enjoy a leisurely walk on the beach (just across the street). Maybe you'd rather start the morning with an invigorating run, the waves lapping at your feet. Later soak up some rays while relaxing on the beach and reading a book or doing some surf fishing. Throughout the day, you can take a dip in the ocean, look for shells, try out a boogie board, build a sand castle, fish off the Kure Beach Pier or in the Cape Fear River, explore the trails around Fort Fisher, or just 'chill out'.

Finish off the evening by relaxing on the deck sharing high points of the day's activities, have a glass of wine. Or, take an evening stroll along the beach, enjoy the night air & listen to the waves crashing on the beach.

Keywords: Open and airy layout with plenty of windows to let the sun shine in.

About Intracoastal Vacation Rentals Reservations Line

We're from Nebraska but North Carolina was home for 4 years and we loved it . Especially memorable are the times spent at the beach with the Kure Beach area holding especially fond memories of trips to Southport to shop in the boutique shops, catching the ferry to the North Carolina Aquarium and spending the day shell hunting at Kure Beach. Nothing like a relaxing day on the beach listening to the gentle roar of the ocean.

Intracoastal Vacation Rentals Reservations Line purchased this house in 2011

Why Intracoastal Vacation Rentals Reservations Line chose Southern Coast

Kure Beach has a small town atmosphere much like the small Nebraska towns we grew up in with neighbors that are friendly and easy to get to know. A nice, quiet, family-oriented area. Since we currently reside in Nebrasaka and fly to North Carolina, it's convenient having the Wilmington airport 30-45 minutes from our house.

What makes this house unique

Our house is located in a quiet cul-de-sac towards the southern end of Kure Beach with beach access across the street. Being located about 30-45 minutes from the Wilmington airport is a definite plus. Close to a variety of activities; yet in a family oriented area and on a quiet cul-de-sac. No large condos or huge hotels. Fresh local seafood. Farmers markets for fresh produce. Next to the ocean. Bike paths. Canoeing. Fishing. Surfing. Etc.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Had the most relaxing time at the beach. We rode the ferry and had a great day in Southport. It is a MUST to do the Southport Island tour with Dan. Historical Wilmington is awesome -- we ate at Elijah's on the Cape Fear River and shopped at the Cotton Exchange. Recommend taking the ghost tour in Wilmington -- you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to come back and make more memories at this wonderful place.

Beautiful Home!

My family & I stayed in this lovely beach home over Memorial Day weekend. We had the most delightful time! First of all, the beach house is located across the street from the ocean - perfect location! The house was clean, comfortable with a great kitchen ideal for cooking yummy seafood meals! You will NOT regret staying in this wonderful house.

Great house!

  • 5 of 5

This house was absolutely perfect for our family. It was very warm and inviting. Incredibly close to the beach. We greatly enjoyed all of Pleasure Island. Probably one of the best things I can say about this house is that I never looked forward to going home and sleeping in my own bed. We would come here again when visit Kure Beach again.

Excellent, comfortable accommodations ideally situated in a quiet, peaceful, nicely landscaped cul-de-sac just steps away from and easy access to the ocean. You get all the benefits of ocean front property but not the price. Our family greatly enjoyed staying at the spacious house and enjoying the beauty of Kure Beach. Such a friendly, small-town atmosphere with gorgeous homes all around. Also, the house is close to Fort Fisher, the NC Aquarium, accessing the ferry to Southport, and a short trip to Wilmington and the North Carolina Battleship - all sites that anyone visiting this area must see. We highly recommend this rental home.

Beautiful beach house! Exactly like you expect a beach house to be! Plenty of room 3 comfortable beds plus fold out couch and futon. Plenty of comfortable living space. Fully equipped kitchen, even a blender for those "boat"drinks! The wrap around porch offers plenty of great morning and evening conversations while listening to the surf. With just a short walk across the road to that beautiful beach it gives you a glimpse of what paradise is! Enjoy long walks on the beach and if you venture into town check out the fishing pier. I will definately come back to this little bit of paradise!

Cookie Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful home! The home was very clean and very nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable and the colors and bedding was beautiful! It was great to have such a nice kitchen and so well stocked with dishes and pots and pans that were needed. We enjoyed fresh seafood each night for dinner. The little blue two story house in Wilmington has delicious seafood to buy. I had never eaten mussels before-they are great! The access to the beach was just minutes from the house and so clean, We also rented bicycles and rode to Fort Fisher. The traffic is considerate of bikers, which is very comforting. This was a girls extended weekend with six women sharing the space and we were never crowded or needed more space. The deck is very nice and we enjoyed much time relaxing out there. I would love to bring my sons and their families to Kure Beach and love to stay at the house again! Fabulous place!!

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My children (ages 9 and 11) and I stayed in your home this summer and had an absolutely fantastic vacation! The house was exactly as mentioned, super clean and in excellent location to the beach. We really enjoyed having a separate TV for the kids (in the back porch area) so they were able to watch Disney, etc at evening...great set-up! We would love to rent the house again for next summer! Thank you!

Kure (pronounced Cur-ee) Beach, North Carolina is a small beach community of just around 1,800 permanent residents. With a family-oriented, small town atmosphere near the cosmopolitan Wilmington only 14 miles north, it is ideally situated at the end of the Pleasure Island peninsula which offers a true “get away” beach vacation experience. Being a favorite nesting-ground of the Loggerhead sea turtle is a testament to the secluded beach experience that Kure Beach provides. The beach is quiet and not too crowded, perfectly suited for sunbathing, strolling, shelling, surfing and fishing. In fact, Kure Beach is known as an angler’s Mecca because of the wide-open spaces and ideal fishing conditions.

When you are walking the shores of Kure Beach and Ft. Fisher, it is hard to believe that such a calming place could be the site of one of the Civil Wars most important strategic battles. The Fort Fisher State Historic Site & Civil War museum will transform you back in time to when the Fort was keeping the Port of Wilmington open to blockade runners which supplied necessary goods to Confederate armies inland.

Fort Fisher State Park with 4 miles of undeveloped beach to explore and the North Carolina Aquarium is about 1.5 miles south. The NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher which is one of three state-owned aquariums and features a variety of marine-life including alligators, venomous snakes, sharks, stingrays, moray eels, seahorses, sea turtles and colorful reef creatures. The aquarium can give your family an opportunity to not only look at the amazing creatures, but to also interact with live animal presentations, feedings, touch pools and divers in the large ocean tank.

Less than a mile past the aquarium is the Ft.Fisher/Southport Ferry. The quaint community of Southport hosts a variety of restaurants & boutique shops. At Southport you can also catch a ferry to Bald Head Island.

Enjoy fresh produce at the summer farmer's market, free summer concert series and Kure Beach Fishing Pier just a mile north from the house.

Four or Five miles north of Kure Beach you'll be on Carolina Beach and can enjoy the 'Boardwalk Blast' summer events and Film & Fireworks series.

The Carolina Beach Boardwalk provides a number of dining experiences from the casual to the re-fined. The Boardwalk features delicious homemade fudge, ice cream and salt-water taffy, but no Carolina Beach vacation is complete without your fill of Britt's world-famous donuts, an institution at Carolina Beach since 1939.

Carolina Beach State Park is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast who is looking to experience distinct coastal habitats. The State Park has approximately 700 acres with a visitor center, fishing pier, picnic and camping (Area 2 campsites are wheelchair accessible), marina, trails, and water activities. The park features scenic trails that wind through woods and along the Cape Fear river where you can find unique flora like the Venus Fly Trap and coastal wildlife like crabs, lizards and jumping fish. There is also a sanctuary for the Painted Bunting that has been enjoyed by many aspiring bird-watchers.

Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach and Kure Beach combined) is one of the premier bottom, pier and surf fishing sites on the east coast. For deep-sea fishing, the Carolina Beach Yacht Basin is the center of boating activities and boasts one of the largest recreational fishing fleets north of Florida. Charter boats and head boats leave the municipal marina each day.

A Kure Beach vacation is the perfect mix of relaxation and lasting memories.
