Watch the sunset over the rugged Texas hill country as you enjoy the dream getaway of your very own cabin on the range. The bunkhouse consists of two bedrooms, 2 baths, a single fireplace inside with a living room including direct satellite television, full kitchen and a safari style deck for wildlife viewing at mealtimes and an outdoor firepit. This cabin sleeps 8-10. There is now a new access road on the ranch so that guests can have private access to the river.
Nearby the cabin is a renovated barn with 1 large bedroom with 8 beds and 2 bathrooms attached. There is a large open room as well available for parties, dances, family reunions or small weddings. The barn can be added to the rental of the bunkhouse but cannot be rented independently.
There is a large 2nd cabin on the ranch that sleeps an additional 15 guests for larger groups like corporate retreats or family reunions.
With 750 acres to hike, fish our ponds and view our many exotic animal species, this is a great place to get away from it all!
We are conveniently located 10 miles south of Brady and 15 miles north of Mason on Highway 87. Use our cabin as a destination unto itself, or as a launching point to great day trips around the hill country.

My wife and I are the full-time managers of Selah Springs Ranch - where the two cabins are located. We are in love with the Texas hill country and in particular the rolling hills of Selah Springs. We both have a love for people and sharing this place and our hospitality with them is our top priority. God has blessed us with this place and our hope is to share that blessing as often as possible.
Phil Chavanne purchased this cabin in 1995
Our bunkhouse is a completely different hill country experience than the other cabin on the ranch. With wide open views, a large pond, a target range, and high vistas and hiking trails - this cabin provides our guests with instant access to the land and great opportunities for wildlife viewing. The cabin itself has the feel of a cozy secluded cottage with easy access to the nearby towns and lots of property to explore.
Spent an awesome weekend there with a group of my buddies for my bachelor party and it was perfect. We got to do all you could want at a bachelor party. Played Corn Hole (which we brought), shot skeet, shot rifles, and went swimming and fishing down by the rope swing. Phil took care of any questions we had and was very helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone. It's just a good ole' wide open ranch. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all and feel like your in God's country, this is your place.
If you love your freedom - this is the place for you. My wife and I have a getaway every month somewhere in the Texas hill country and we love to stay on ranches. This is one of our 2 favorite places because there is so much to do there and more added all the time. With all the changes it feels a bit like a state park all to yourself. They have marked hiking trails, campsites, caves (very cool) and field guides for nature lovers. It's an amazing place for families. If you're active you can stay busy all day long and the price is very low. They have recently put in a new road to the river so that guests can have direct access to the water. It's a great swimming/fishing hole and no one else is there - you have river frontage all to yourself. So this place is a blessing to us with more to explore than you'll be able to see.
I still can't believe this place exists. I've lived and worked and camped all across the hill country all my life and there is no other place like this one. When you rent the cabin you get access to 700 acres to explore and there is so much to see. There are hiking trails, off road trails, caves, natural springs bubbling up out of the ground, campsites, lookouts, canyons, scavenger hunting maps, tree maps, shooting ranges. The owners have spent 19 years grooming this property and it shows. The pasture we stayed in had been transformed over the past 15 years into a flowing grassland. On our nature tour Phil taught us about rangeland management, local native american history, the 27 species of trees on the ranch, water conservation. Everything was first rate - everything we needed was provided to us. The owner is a novelist and much of his recent book talks about the ranch and the rich stories that have taken place there. It's a truly unique experience. You are 10 minutes from town but 1000 miles from stress. What an unbelievable property.
Our wedding at Selah Springs was superb! The ranch is a great testimony to the owner's vision for hospitality and we can't say enough about how great a time we all had! Places as classy as Selah Springs are generally a little stuffy, but not here. The ranch was opened to our enjoyment and enjoy it, we did. Beautiful river frontage with the kind of accommodations and hands-off hospitality that truly encourage relaxation. A perfect combination of rugged hill country and widlife for the fellas, coupled with a first class lodge and full ammenities for the ladies. I can see us spending several anniversaries and/or getaways on this property.
We had an amazing and memorable experience in our stay at the ranch. We came to the ranch with the hope of "getting away" for awhile. But it wasn't so much the rest (which was AMAZING) but our time together that made for a cherished memory. My son and I went on walks and brought along one of the many great books available in the cabin. We would walk for a bit and then sit together and read an adventurous story. Pretty soon I think he was feigning being tired just to get to listen to another tale of lions or elephants or crocodiles. We also took advantage of a cave tour (which you must go on) and he took one of his first steps toward manhood by overcoming a fear. The proud look on his face I will never forget. But this wasn't just a "boy haven". My daughter loved her time at the ranch as well. Like any little girl (3 yrs), she was amazed by the beauty of the place. From watching sunsets, to walking in her boots, and you wouldn't want to get her started on the animals. She LOVED them and wanted to keep them all. And don't get me started on the owners. They do all they can to go out of their way to make you feel at home and to give you the best experience possible. I would return again just for the chance to get to talk with them. This ranch is a great place for the family to make genuine lifelong memories.
Huge praise for what they are doing at Selah Springs Ranch. We could not have felt more welcomed and provided for. We rented both cabins on the ranch and did a bunch of hiking as a big family gathering. We brought all of our ATV's and cooked out on the porches and the kids explored the place like treasure hunters. Then they went down to the river and tried the rope swing and when they were still wet we came back and roasted marshmallows in the firepit. We were provided with a cave tour and a photo safari and the hosts were very generous with their time. We probably heard 20 stories from Phil about the really cool history of the ranch dating all the way back to the Comanches and each time he came back to visit he told us some more. It was like stepping back in time. The animals were incredible and we caught five fish and the kids enjoyed feeding the horses. We're excited to come back because it sounds like there are always new improvements in the works. We didn't learn until we left that they will cook for you as well - we'll look forward to trying that the next time. Thanks for a break from the madness of the city.
The ranch is located 9 miles from the town of Brady where guests have access to groceries, gas, and shopping/tourist attractions. Guests can also head south to the charming towns of mason (15 minutes away) and Fredericksburg (50 minutes away) where there are countless Hill countries treasures to explore. Some day trip favorites are: Kayaking the llano river, exploring the shops in Fredericksburg, visiting Luckenbach, seeing the Eckert Bat Cave or hiking up Enchanted Rock
If you are flying in the Airports in San Antonio and Austin are both just over 2 hours from here and San Angelo is 1:15 minutes.
