About Bonnie Young

My husband and I are in our 50's. While we enjoy living and working in the Twin Cites, we are true nature lovers and thoroughly love the peaceful surroundings of the Wisconsin 'Northwoods'.

We purchased the cabin 10 years ago in order to experience quality family time.

We intentionally did not have a TV or internet for many years so that our three children would be encouraged to play games, read, do puzzles, go on hikes, talk (to us and each other :) ) etc.

Now that our children are older they have learned to value these same activities and enjoy bringing their friends to share the 'cabin experience'.

Bonnie Young purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Bonnie Young chose Hayward

We enjoy nature and often spend the entire weekend staying at the cabin, appreciating all of the many types of wildlife.

However, we are also fairly social and truly enjoy going into town with friends to shop, go to a restaurant, take in a live performance at The Park Theater, or go to the wine cave for a glass of wine.

Being 15 minutes outside of town lets us enjoy the best of both worlds!

What makes this cabin unique

Our Up North Cabin combines privacy and togetherness with it's well designed layout. It is perfect for two families or a reunion. There are private sleeping accomodations for both the kids and adults including:

* 1 Bedroom with a queen bed

* 1 Loft with a queen bed

* 1 Bedroom with a set of twin beds

* 1 Bunkroom with two sets of bunks.

* A secret 'fort' for the kids...

This property was absolutely perfect for our family vacation this year. It is a beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic long weekend at Eagles Nest Lookout. You can clearly tell the owners take great pride in keeping this home in perfect condition. The lake is beautiful, and the easy access made this a great place for my grandmother to easily get to and from the lake with the family. Hayward is a great WI town, and the close proximity gave us the ability to run in and see Musky Fest during our stay. Everything was in great working order and the views from the 2nd floor loft were spectacular especially in the morning. The unpopulated island straight across from the home made you feel like you were much further north. The house was very clean, nicely decorated, and very well equipped. We have two small additions to our family this year and the first floor bedrooms made this the perfect home for families with small children. We spent the weekend fishing and boating on Lake Nelson. Lake Nelson is a fantastic lake very close to Hayward. We highly recommend the supper clubs on the lake, especially the fish fry, all with easy boat up access. Our only regret is we could not stay longer. Thank you for an absolutely fantastic weekend, and we hope to come back again next year.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the lovely comments. Yes. We built the addition so that it could accommodate families of all ages. We are glad you took advantage of the surroundings, and so much that Hayward has to offer. We too enjoy the terrific opportunity to boat to area restaurants. Thank you again for treating our cabin as your home. Bonnie & Bill Young

Spacious. Clean, Cozy and Inviting

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was well equipped and was perfect for a winter getaway. We did not snowmobile but we did cross country ski hike and enjoy the nearby restaurants. This is perfect for two families as there are two separate and open areas living areas two fireplaces and two bathrooms. Perfect for small children and older adults as well.

Well appointed, very comfortable & clean! Although nature is at your doorstep with the lake, eagles & deer, this property is just the right distance from town if you are interested in experiencing Haywards many shops, restaurants & entertainment options. As an added bonus don't miss out on the cabins complimentary use of the two kayaks & canoe.

We'll be back!

Great Visit

  • 4 of 5

We went for a multigenerational girls weekend and had a wonderful time. The cabin had everything we needed to relax and enjoy the sun. I think our host would agree that communication was a bit chaotic but we certainly bear some of the burden for that. We would choose to return to this cabin in the future. One word on the lake which is out of the control of our host...it was very weedy pretty far into the lake so swimming wasn't very appealing. Sitting on a full raft and floating however...that was fabulous.

The cabin is even more beautiful and spacious in person than the pictures show.

We had a long girls weekend in the cabin on Nelson Lake and were pleasantly surprised and how impeccably clean, cozy and stocked this cabin was. The yard is very well maintained and beautiful with a lovely view from the deck. Bonnie was very accommodating and pleasant to work with. I would recommend this cabin to any family group or friends looking for a quiet Northern woods getaway.
