This was a wonderful place to stay on our Austin vacation. Plenty of space. Very clean. Nice remodel. Literally 2 minutes from fun SoCo area. Really close to downtown. Accommodating owner. Would strongly recommend to visitors.

Our week in Austin

We loved our stay. There were 5 of us in the house for a week and it is spacious, clean and very well equipped. While the exterior appears average, the interior is great. The location is convenient being close to S Congress Ave and a walkable distance to the shops, cafes and restaurants of South Congress (SOCO). Metro buses were handy and within a 3 to 5 minute walk and a major grocery store was 5 minutes walk. We found the owner extremely helpful and while he was on hand when we needed him, he respected our space and privacy. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice house, good location, messy yard

We had a great vacation in Austin, mostly because we were spending it with family and we love the city! The house was nice with plenty of room for the six of us. It was also close to downtown and Zilker Park, which made things very easy. The backyard had very little grass, and there were loose boards and tools lying around, which made it unsafe for little ones. The patio set was covered with dust, pollen, and spider webs. The owner lives upstairs, which was a little awkward, but an advantage when we had to call him to request more towels. A nice guy, he pretty much left us alone, except to greet us when we arrived. There were no instructions for the house (except for the wifi password written on the back of an envelope), which we found unusual. As VRBO owners ourselves, we always left very clear instructions for the guests. Overall, it was a pretty good value.

Owner's Response: We had just had 4 inches of rain before they got there. Also tree got trimmed minutes before there arrived. They left house in good shape. Now that tree is trimmed grass will grow out back. They did use back yard with kids. A rake was left out back see pictures on line These renters put trash in my recycle I said something to them so they put a bunch of recycle on top of the trash I had to dump the whole thing out and separate it as city will not pick it up like that We had just installed new wifi from at&t which is much better than Spectrum that is why pass word was on an envelope

Great place to stay

Lovely home in quiet neighborhood and close to downtown. Very nicely appointed and updated. Jim thought of everything possible to make our stay comfortable and welcoming. Lots of linens, comfortable beds and plenty of room for 6 adults. We will definetly stay here the next time we are Austin bound. Thank you Jim!

An Excellent Vacation Rental.

Jim's cottage is very well laid out for a family of three grown boys, with space for everyone to retreat or gather. The kitchen is more than adequately stocked with all sorts of pans and pots for gourmet cooking.

During our stay we discovered a trail and creek just a block away and a university two blocks away so that people can jog on the campus. The location is definitely central to everything, such as daily basic needs or sightseeing. One suggestion is to provide a kettle and a pair of scissors. For Asian families like us, a rice cooker would be appreciated.
