I am an architect with offices in Connecticut and New York City. Designing and building single-family homes has always been a major part of my practice. I selected this site because it is private yet close to in-town restaurants, shops, the Housatonic River, and covered bridge.
The Owner purchased this house in 2006
I designed and built my country home for myself and my family on five private, hillside acres. It is a serene location and I now want to share it with others.
There are activities for all four seasons.
Spring has the new growth of the surrounding forest and the newborn deer and wild turkeys. And there's hiking on the Appalachian Trail, which runs through Cornwall.
Summer has the lush verdant beauty that is unique to northwest Connecticut. The Housatonic River offers boating and fishing, and the town has a beach and tennis courts. Antiquing is readily available throughout the area and the nearby Berkshires and New York State. Tanglewood is an easy drive.
Fall offers spectacular colors for leaf-watchers. The surrounding forests turn ever so slowly from green to gold with peak colors generally around mid-October.
Winter is a paradise for skiers. Mohawk Mountain Ski area is in Cornwall. Nine other ski area are within an hour's drive.
I stayed here for July 4th weekend and I have nothing but good things to say about the home and the home owner. The house is brand new, absolutely beautiful and set in a very secluded area. The home is situated in a very nice, small town located right on a river. The owner was very accommodating and gave me a great deal for such a magnificent home. I would highly recommend staying here.
Appalachian Trail runs through Cornwall, hiking loops nearby, Connecticut wine trail nearby, near Tanglewood and the Berkshires. In-town skiing, tennis, river sports, and beach.
