Thank you for considering Hale Mala Hina - The House of Garden Mist. The recent remodel was inspired by our love for Japanese design and accented with Hawaiian spirit. In a word, it’s TRANQUIL and we hope the photos give a worthy sense for its true comfort. It's an ideal place for a small family or 1-2 couples.

We know you’re searching high and low to find the perfect place for your Hawaiian vacation. We think the West side of Maui is definitely the right place to look.

There are many beach parks to snorkel, picnic, or barbecue and it’s refreshingly cooler at night than other parts of the island. Restaurants of varying cuisine dot the West side, with many on the Northern end tucked away in tropical foliage, to offer the slower pace that people look for in Hawaii. Honolua and Napili Bays are absolutely stunning and are a hop, skip and a jump from our place. No need to pay for a snorkeling trip - just jump right in.

If you’re like us, we believe EATING, SLEEPING, and RELAXING are very, very important and that a great condo makes the vacation all the more memorable.

EATING – For us, one of life’s simple pleasures is to sip wine and eat our meal on the lanai – which is why we furnished it with a couch on one side and a dining table on the other. The warm, inviting lighting allows for enjoyment well past the famous sunsets, which can be viewed while enjoying your dinner on the lanai.

From the stemware to the cookware, our kitchen provides all the implements a cook would need to prepare a complete family meal. The open design, beautiful granite, and bamboo cabinetry help create a soothing and pleasurable place to entertain and prepare a gourmet dinner.

SLEEPING – Brand new pillow top mattresses with designer linens aim for the ultimate sleeping luxury. The master bedroom, with its king size bed, is smartly partitioned with beautiful Japanese shoji screens, which open up the room by day and seclude it by night.

The second bedroom, which is affectionately called the persimmon room, has a queen bed and a corner desk, which offers a convenient nook for working on a laptop. There’s also a sleeping loft with a plush twin mattress – a cozy place for nighttime reading before falling asleep.

RELAXING – After a day of enjoying the island’s activities, relax in front of the 46' High Definition Flatscreen TV with Blu Ray and Surround Sound. There is also an iPod docking station as well as high-speed wireless Internet connection. All you’ll need is a bowl of popcorn before sinking into the couch for the night.

We picked our community (Pohailani) because it is largely residential, right by the water, and has lush gardens with several mango trees. It is a community comprised of oceanfront studios and a number of two-unit, two-bedroom, garden style buildings set beneath shady tropical trees.

A great little getaway condo that feels cozy and has a wonderful island feel to it.

The layout and and amenities are great! The only negatives were that the beds are a bit soft and the a/c unit next to the bed is rather loud. All in all, it was a very nice stay!

Owner's Response: Aloha John, Thanks for your review we are so happy you liked the condo, It is really hard to pick the right mattress, so many people LOVE the mattress and ask where we bought it, I apologize if you felt it was soft. It is a med/firm new mattress. AS for the AC I wish you would have let me know I would get this taken care of right away. I will be at the unit today to make sure it is running efficient an quiet. Again we truly appreciate your review we strive to make the unit as comfortable an amazing as possible for your vacation. Hurry back aloha JILL

Beautiful remodeled condo

We loved our stay here. Everything has been provided from basic condiments to beach towels, mats, chairs and boogie boards. The master bedroom (king) has no blinds and since I'm a very light sleeper I had to switch with my daughter (who can sleep anywhere!) to the loft room that has blinds on the windows. Luckily she didn't mind at all! Since the beach is a bit of a walk and not very visible from the unit, we didn't spend much time at all on the lanai. Instead we ate quickly and drove to the beach. Some of the beach equipment could use updating. Chairs were extremely difficult to close and some of the beach mats were ripped much of the way down so we ended up not using them. But since I was recovering from a back injury and can't sit directly on a hard surface like the sand, using a beach chair was worth the frustration. We made use of a few of the movies on early nights. Miso Phat Sushi (a short walk down the road) was excellent. The Maui Fish market is a short drive and equally good. Paia Fish Market in Lahaina, Barefoot Bar in the Hula grill are both amazing! We miss them already. There were too many good places to mention. All in all it was a great stay and we were very happy in this condo.

Amazing Zen place in West Maui

My family and I stayed here from June 21st to 27th 2017 and absolutely loved it. I have stayed in a lot of rental houses over the years and this one turned out to be one of the best. The place is very nicely decorated, the beds were all super comfortable and the kitchen was very well stocked with all the pots, pans and tools that you could ever need. In most rentals the pots and pans are garbage but these were actually very nice. Our favorite place in the house was the lanai as we spent every morning on it eating our breakfast and ever evening on it eating dinner, drinking wine and just enjoying family time. The thing that really set the place a part for us were all the small touches like a cooler with ice packs for us to use along with a filtered water pitcher in the frig to fill our water bottles and a big citronella candle on the table on the lanai for use during dinner. The grounds around the house are also very nice and when visiting the club house we were even given bananas and mangos that were grown right in the neighborhood. My only real compliant with the house was its location to a beach where you could swim. The ocean is fairly close but you have to walk a couple hundred yards to get to an actual beach access and the beach is not that great in this part of Maui. Ultimately, for us we spent the major portion of our day away from the house exploring Maui so it was not that big a deal. If I were going back tomorrow, I would rent the exact same place again. The location gets you out of the hustle and bustle of the resort areas but they are close enough that you can quickly drive to them. One thing that we learned while we were there is that all the resorts are required to provide a small amount of parking and access to all the beaches as they are all public and after we learned where the small parking lots were we never had an issue getting to any of the beaches. The highlights of our 6 day stay before heading to Oahu included seeing the sunrise on top of Haleakala followed by hiking Sliding Sands trial, the road to Hana (we drove the backside on the way back and loved it), scuba diving in south Maui with Maui Dreams, eating at the food trucks near the airport, snorkeling at Honolua Bay just minutes away (this was my favorite), going to the old Lahaina Luau, visiting random beaches (Bigs is great with an awesome shore break and smalls is interesting too), shopping in Lahaina and going to the Nakalele blow hole and Dragons teeth.

Wonderful visit!

We loved the Tree house condo! It was beautifully decorated and had every convenience we needed for our family trip to Maui. Our children loved the loft. We liked the beach chairs, sand toys, and used the small cooler every day as we traveled around exploring the island. We especially enjoyed the ambiance and privacy of the lanai with the pull down shades. The grounds were lovely and the walk to the water was close, though we did not spend time at the beach that was nearby. We appreciated working with Jill who was always prompt in answering our questions and accommodated our request for a late check out, which was very nice. We can't say enough great things about our experience!

Stay couldn't have been better!

Our family of four stayed here and we were thrilled. Everything was as advertised -- plenty of space, comfortable furnishings, luxurious bathroom, fully stocked kitchen, speedy washer/dryer, and amazing lanai for all our meals. The unit also had great wifi and an entertainment center, but we hardly used them as we spent most of our time at the pool (just steps away), at the beach, or enjoying the Maui breezes on the lanai. The location is also fantastic, located midway between (and just 10 minutes by car) from both Kaanapali and Kapalau (with Lahaina just a few more minutes away). Schedule allowing, we will definitely be back!

Coffee on the lanai was magical

The unit itself was perfect...spacious and clean with all the amenities and then some! They even had a rice cooker! The condo overlooking the pool and peaceful courtyard was wonderful...we enjoyed morning coffee and dinners on the lanai. We had the refreshing pool to ourselves for most of the stay. What a bonus during spring break! I was initially concerned about the air but the unit cooled quickly and we even turned off the account at night. I have to note the beds...ridiculously comfortable even slept better than my bed at home! Kids loved the loft too. Great stay we'll be back!

Pohailani (the name of the complex) is in walking distance to some nice restaurants and small shopping centers.

Among the list, are Hawaiian Village Coffee, Dollies Pub and Grill, Maui Brewing Company, The Beach House and a Whaler's General Store. Pohailani is less than a two mile walk to a farmer's market, which carries all sorts of local produce and goods. There is also a larger grocery store within 3 miles, called Times market for all your in-house dinner needs.

Almost everything you need is within walking distance of this beautiful area in Kahana, and what is not, is easily accessible by bus. The nearest bus stop is just outside the complex!

We recommend renting a car to best explore Maui.

This unit is newly remodeled and truly "one of a kind" please read the reviews! it is as if you are in a tree house, very private and VERY well taken care of.
