A large living room with a loft library and a separate wet bar finish off the interior features. Location couldn't be beat with grocery shopping and restaurants less than 2 short miles away. About David Karmel

Hi, and welcome to my site. I've been a Tucson since 1970 , when I left my childhood home in Chicago and came out here to go to the U of A. I bought this house when my daughter was born. It was a one bedroom, 2 bath home that was just sitting on the market waiting for someone to turn her into a family home. So as a real estate broker and general contractor I put my resources to work and 18 years later I completed the various remodels and additions that you see today. My daughters grown and living in Seattle today working for Microsoft, after she became a second generation U of A graduate. And me?? I'm still designing and remodeling homes in the Tucson area. Doing as much traveling as I can afford and enjoying life in the old Pueblo.

Why David Karmel chose Catalina Foothills

As I had mentioned...18 years to complete the house. Now it wasn't always a construction site, but there were 3 major remodels and additions not to mention numerous face lifts. As a contractor I would build custom homes and remodels from vintage old homes to modern classics in the foothills. Every time I built something that was really fun, new and exciting, I'd end up duplicating it at my house. As I built the family dynamics changed. I became a single dad when my daughter was very young. and as she got older we needed more space between us, especially during those teen years; thus the 2nd master suite on the other end of the house.

The kitchen was designed by me to be able to cook and entertain at the same time. I have owned a couple of restaurants in the Tucson area over the years and enjoy cooking and entertaining....a well thought out kitchen is what has evolved.

The yard was designed around the mesquite trees. When I laid out the pool, the pool builder wanted me to remove all of the trees. He said that they would present a problem with cleaning and maintenance over the years...and was he ever right. But the beauty, coolness and accompanying plantings have thrived in this beautiful tranquil oasis.

What makes this house unique

The setting is not to be outdone. In the middle of a large mesquite bosque, located at the end of two roads, you'll feel like you've hit the trails end. The house affords the ability to have a large family get together with plenty of parking, plenty of private areas to get away, 3 and half baths with 150 gallons of hot water for all those showers,, dishes and clothes that will be washed...all in a park like setting in the desert. Indoor and an outdoor jetted tubs provide a spa like retreat.

Spacious Living

The house offers large open rooms, lots of light and all conviencences. We especially enjoyed the gracious garden and pool area, a lovely gathering place at any hour. Our host was available and helpfull. The four bedrooms are comfortable, but vary greatly in size and amenities, something members of a group would need to discuss. We enjoyed the property, walking in the neighbourhood and on the trail, and the quiet location. Thanks you, David, for sharing your home with us.

Nice, big home, great location.

We enjoyed our stay here. There were three couples and two children. There are three separate areas for the sleeping quarters, a perfect layout for our family.

The home was very large and had many sitting and dining areas. The kitchen was big and very open. The backyard/pool area was wonderful, plenty of space in the sun and shade.

The location was great, close to stores but in a nice residential area. We saw a bobcat, bunnies and quail in the neighborhood.

The owner was very helpful and everything was as described.

Review of David Karmel's House

The house and property were lovely and were very true to the pictures on the web site. The kitchen/family room together are enormous! All 8 of us could be in that area and not feel cramped. Everything was clean. David was wonderful. He met us and explained everything to us and when we had questions (several times) he answered promptly. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend. The one suggestion I would like to make is that changing the beds in the regular bedrooms to Queen-size would be an enormous improvement. Not very many couples are used to sleeping in Double Beds these days.

Spacious

This home had plenty of room for our whole family--three children and six adults. Everyone enjoyed the outdoor pool and wildlife. We grilled one night and ate several times at the huge dining table that seated all of us comfortably. The kitchen is well equipped, bedrooms spacious. The grand piano was an extra fun touch we all enjoyed! David met us at the home exactly on time and took us through, explaining AC, TVs, etc. and was always quickly responsive to questions.

Beautiful home

I rented this home for 4 days for a small family get together. For us it provided plenty of space 5 adults and 2 teens. We especially liked the kitchen living space which provided a superb area for our gatherings. With 3.5 baths, we had no issues meeting everyone's needs. Our second favorite area was the pool area. The shaded area could be use most of the day but was exceptionally nice in the evenings for small group chats. Another bonus to this secluded home was the shopping and restaurants just 5 miles away.

The property owner, David, welcomed us warmly at the home when we arrived and gave us an orientation to the property. Overall, it's a great Tucson location and would stay again.

Nice quiet area. Nice large house with everything needed.

Conveniently located. Lots to do in the area.

Few things need fixing up in bathroom.

Trees need a bit of trimming for sunbathing around pool.

Outdoor dinner table/chairs need fixing
