The windows of our adobe home provide a 360 view of the sights of Marfa. The front yard provides you with a vista of the iconic town, while the backyard provides a beautiful view of the majestic Davis mountains and the sweeping prairie. Our place is just perfect to get out and enjoy the many parks of West Texas or to stay in and relax in the beauty of the surrounding area. Our home is equipped with a state of the art kitchen, featuring a Wolfe range and a Subzero fridge, a basement home entertainment center with surround sound (cable tv not provided, please use your own netflix/amazon/etc accounts) and luxurious bathrooms, featuring a Kolher 'Tea for Two' tub and a two person walk in rain shower. The home features two fireplaces on the main floor, one in the Master bedroom and one in the living room. The master bedroom faces the west and is the prefect place to sit by the fireplace and watch the sunset while the front two bedrooms have balcony access that make for great places to take in an early sunrise. Both the front yard and backyard feature spacious porches, which coupled with the Dark Skies initiative makes for excellent star gazing.

Big Sky Marfa House!

  • 5 of 5

We came to Marfa to attend the Marfa Film Festival. We had 6 people in our group, so the home provided plenty of space. The house has fantastic appliances, and is decorated as what I would call, "Marfa Chic". The back patio is great for grilling and hanging out with friends or just for coffee in the morning. The property is clean, beautiful and spacious. I can't wait to stay here again!

Wonderful place to enjoy Marfa

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying here. Great views of both sunrise and sunset. A great place to relax in relative seclusion while still being walking distance(if it's not to hot) to everything. Plenty of room for everyone (we had 9) to get together or be separate. The kids loved sleeping in the basement area with the entertainment center. Great kitchen. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house to anyone heading to Marfa.

This property is absolutely enchanting.

  • 5 of 5

This property is absolutely enchanting and true to West Texas beauty. Its porches allow for sun in the morning when you want a little heat on your toes and coffee in your hands, and a cool, shady breeze in the evening with a sunset view when you're holding a cold one. The amenities are perfect; nothing missing that we needed. The bedrooms are comfortable and the sheets and towels are heavenly. We had three kids and three adults and fit perfectly. The boys (two of them) loved the "hideout cellar" and spent a fair amount of time down there. Our daughter browsed the plentiful art books, and we all spent time in the wonderfully comfy sitting room, thoughtfully stocked with soft pillows and blankets to offset the soft, cushy, but naturally chilled leather sofa cushions. Town is a good walk away past the high-school, which makes the Marfa street glow diminish for unreal star-gazing. And we caught a Marfa High School six-man football game for a true Friday Night Lights experience in small town West Texas. It was an enchanting stay. I would go back in one heart-beat.

Wonderful Home!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five had a ball! The home was comfortable, spacious and very cool. Well-stocked kitchen with top-notch appliances and cooking gear. Lots of table space to play cards and games as well as couch/comfy chair space for lounging and visiting. Master bath is beautiful! Beds and linens/towels were comfy and nice. The back porch was heavenly--even though you are in a neighborhood, you definitely have privacy as the home backs up to a large field. Paula was wonderful and gave us lots of tips about the area. A wonderful weekend getaway!

Lovely house -- beware of the fine print!

  • 3 of 5

Big Sky Marfa is a very nice and spacious house -- beautiful views, well appointed and comfortable. Our family rented the house in July for a wedding in Marfa. (Screens on the windows would be nice, so the cool evenings could be enjoyed! As it is, you have to keep the house totally closed up to prevent insects from getting in.)

It would have been very helpful to have the owner’s list of rules printed and posted in the house instead of in an email that was sent last November. Neither our second home in Mexico, nor properties we have rented through other agencies have a policy that the kitchen must be cleaned and the trash removed from the premises, so a reminder list would have been most helpful! The owner's extremely rude phone call regarding dishes left in the sink was the only negative experience of an otherwise fabulous wedding weekend in Marfa. We dealt with many venues in Marfa including hotels, event spaces and other rental homes that our friends were staying in, and this experience makes me very reluctant to ever rent with Home Away again.

Owner's Response: I ask that all of my guests send written confirmation that they have read and agree to the terms of the rental agreement which includes the expectations for the care of the house before I proceed with a booking. I do this to avoid this type of situation occurring. I also asked all guests to call with any questions or concerns at any time so that I can be reached if there were any issues they may encounter during their stay. Further all guests have a copy of this rental agreement that they have agreed in writing to abide by in their home away portal. Having utilized either of these options would have avoided any confusion as to the details of what they had agreed to do. Also to address the sink of dirty dishes – the guest was sent photos documenting the entire counter and sink full of dirty dishes as well as the three bath towels that had to be replaced due to make up stains.
