Aloha and welcome to Hotel Pa'amalu the only one room hotel in Kealakekua Hawaii. Hotel Pa'amalu is a blend of Polynesia, Indonesia and amnesia. Come swim in our warm tropical waters or explore the enchanting tropical rain forests atop Kilauea, possibly the most active volcano on the plant. Plan your day while lounging on the lanai, comforted by the warm gentle trade wind breezes.

You will begin your day 5 minutes from historical Kealakekua Bay, on the leeward slopes of Mauna Loa on the island of Hawaii. The weather is warm, sunny and mild all year long, yes all year long.

Hotel Pa'amalu is a fun, retreat, romantic get away, or a brief interlude as you travel through out our beautiful islands.

Thanks so much for visiting, hope to hear from you soon.

Aloha......

Oh, if you come during mango season you may never leave the lanai!

Mahalo Nui Loa,

Charles Cope

Vacation in paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful views of the ocean in a serene setting. This feels so removed from everything, yet is close to snorkeling, restaurants, the main road. It is definitely a great location for being away from the busy tourist areas! There is a fountain in front of the lanai that has birds come bathe and serenade you. Tangelos are currently "in season", and we were encouraged to pick and eat as many as we wanted. There was always a gentle breeze as we sat outside enjoying the sunshine. The house is perfectly laid out, and a great getaway!

Fabulous getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for Christmas Eve 2016 and absolutely loved it. Do not be fooled by the unassuming exterior in the pictures; this property is well equipped, comfortable, and absolutely fantastic for relaxing in this part of Hawaii. It is located slightly off the main highways, allowing easy access to both the highways and the beaches. It is also secluded from the crowds - no chances of tourists strolling around you here. The patio / lanai is amazing and we spent hours just watching the birds take a bath, tropical fruit (which you are encouraged to try) ripen on the trees surrounding the property... Plus Charles (and his friendly dog & cat) are super nice and glad to assist with anything you need. Highly recommend.

Beautiful and peaceful place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is nicely decorated and has everything you need to prepare simple meals. The screened lanai is a wonderful place to hang out and watch the sunset or listen to the birds while you have coffee in the morning. Close to Kealakekua Bay for kayaking or 2step for snorkeling. Very and private setting. The pictures on website don't do it justice. Charles is friendly and available. Hope to return soon!

Terrific Place

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Charles's little house for four nights in November. It's a wonderful place. The room itself is quite beautiful, and the lanai, which people have written about, is a restful place with fun bird-watching. The only thing we had an issue with was not quite enough reading lights for us, but Charles accommodated us with an extra lamp immediately.

The location is excellent. We found it easy to walk down to Manini beach where we rented a kayak to go out to the monument. Charles is easy to work with. We couldn't ask for anything more of our VRBO.

We loved our stay and hope to return!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Charles Cope's cottage (Hotel Pa'amalu) - beautiful location and very peaceful. It was hard for us to leave after our 2-night stay. Charles greeted us on our first night and shared a few special places to visit as well as local restaurants. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and perfect for us (we were trying to avoid the condo option) and had everything we needed, including beach gear (snorkeling, etc.) Our favorite spot to relax at the cottage was the lanai, which overlooked a water fountain, attracting so many colorful birds throughout the day. The beaches nearby are beautiful and great for snorkeling. The cottage is located in the heart of Kona coffee country as well as quite close to the Place of Refuge (Pu'uhonua) - a must visit for learning about Hawaii's history and traditions. We would enthusiastically recommend the cottage to our friends and family (which we did!).

Notes:
Catering Available, Beach View, Ocean View, Mountain View, Possibly the best Mangos you will ever eat. Hotel Pa'amalu is not really a hotel, I just thought that was a catchy name. My dad, friends and I built this little house a few years back. I would, how ever, describe it as a small story book cottage, welcoming you to write your own chapter. We are settled just up slope from an old Hawaiian fishing village known as Keei. We are surrounded by many different varieties of mangos bananas and other horticultural surprises.
