Duane & Pat Bieber are natives of southern Minnesota and have vacationed in the Ely area since 1996. They were able to purchase this beautiful cabin a few years ago. They now have retired and reside on another lake within the city of Ely. The Bieber's enjoy providing a peaceful, comfortable setting for others to experience & enjoy the northwoods.
Duane or Pat Bieber purchased this cabin in 2010
We love Ely. It is a beautiful place. The people are warm and friendly. The pace is slower and reminds us of the small towns we grew up in.
We love being at the cabin. It is relaxing to get away from it all but close enough to Ely or Tower when we want to eat out, go shopping or visit other local attractions.
This cabin has everything needed for a relaxing getaway. Pat and Duane have obviously put a lot of love, and energy into making this cabin a welcoming home for anyone who stays here. We were in awe of the amount of space we had, and the surrounding land was well maintained, and beautiful.
The Cabin on Wolf Lake is a perfect place for a weekend retreat. I thoroughly enjoyed doing nothing but looking out the window at the spectacular view of Wolf Lake. My husband and I made the trip with our 2 college aged girls and our fur kids. The check in process was super easy. The cabin is tastefully decorated and we enjoyed looking at each item/photo displayed/hanging in the cabin. If you are a clean freak, this cabin fits the bill. Everything was clean and ready for use. Plenty of games, puzzles and books to keep us all occupied. We dug the fire pit out of the snow and enjoyed a campfire after grilling a steak dinner. The cabin kitchen is well equipped with everything you would need to make a meal.Plenty of cookware and utensils available. There was also dog bowls and extra leashes available for the fur kids. Owners are very helpful and available to answer any questions. We truly enjoyed our stay. A few things to consider if you are planning on staying here: as the VRBO description indicates, the stairs in this cabin are not suitable for small children. I would say no child under 10 and certainly not good for small pets or for anyone who has mobility issues. There is some fresh water supplied at check in but bring plenty of bottle water as the water supply is well and not suitable for drinking or cooking with. No wifi but we didn't mind this at all. I would definitely recommend this property and hope we get a chance to visit after the lake thaws.
When we opened the door we only can said wooow! that cozy cabin is amazing, as I dreamed many times. Perfect for spend some days with friends or your partner, playing board games, cooking, reading, playing music, hiking around... or just waching through that window and enjoy the sunset on the wolf lake.I only would ask for a real wood stove, instead of the propane one. Hopefully many others will enjoy as we did.
This was my first time using VRBO (or anything like it) but I've wanted to for a long time. I love traveling and going off the beaten path. But I'll be honest, I was nervous. I didn't know what to expect.
I called Duane & Pat and asked a lot of questions. They happily answered all of them, and I booked a reservation for March when I'd be back home (Minnesota) for a trip.
My band mates and I were looking for an affordable cabin to rent for a weekend songwriting retreat up north. I searched around 300 cabins before finding this one. And boy did we luck out. The cabin was perfect. It had lots of amenities but still had a great rustic charm, it was secluded but still close enough to Ely to grab groceries, and it had an absolutely gorgeous view of Wolf Lake.
They left instructions for where to find everything we needed once we got to the property, and we were set. Warm gas fireplace, multiple levels so we could split up and have "me" time. Chock full of board games and movies. Everything we needed to cook our own food, two bathrooms with showers and plenty of beds to sleep on. It's clear that Duane & Pat have put a lot of love into this property, they're very up front and honest about everything and accommodating.
My band mates and I absolutely loved the property, our time there, and would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks for making our time special, relaxing and unencumbered.
This modern, comfortable, wonderfully decorated, and completely appointed cabin is a delightful setting to escape all everyday stresses and completely relax. The pine woods surrounding the cabin are filled with wildlife to watch and listen to. The view of Wolf Lake is spectacular & the loons call saying, "This is a great place to live!" Shopping in Ely is fun & rewarding; the spa is TERRIFIC; restaurants are excellent; and the evening open air music is marvelous. The cabin has many games, books, & videos for rainy days or evening entertainment. I especially recommend a video entitled "The Worst Movie Ever Made"--it's good for many laughs for the entire stay!
Whether sitting out on the wrap around porch or inside with a good cup of tea and a book, the air is fresh, the smell is sweet pine and the quiet is healing at this beautiful cabin. Easy to find and 10 minutes from Ely with restaurants, shops, spas, and the Wolf and Bear Centers - what more could anyone seeking time away from everyday routine want!
Snowshoeing, Large beaver dam on property, wildlife viewing from deck (birds, rabbits, coyotes, deer, occasional wolf sighting)
