About Stan Allison
We live in a cottage nearby and our proximity allows us to be available for assistance during your stay.
Stan Allison purchased this House in 2012
Why Stan Allison chose Montague
The purchase of this property allowed for a building site that would capture the beauty of Lake Michigan as well as embracing the surrounding woods. Access to both White Lake and Lake Michigan provides many options for water fun including fishing, kayaking, boating and just sitting on the Pier watching the boat traffic glide through the White Lake Channel.
What makes this House unique
First and foremost is Lake Michigan with 300 feet of private beach. Additionally, there is near by access to White Lake and the White Lake Channel Pier. The Old Channel Pier House is an outstanding example of what west Michigan has to offer as a summer vacation destination. Pure Michigan at its best!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
We had a wonderful week at the Pier House. Stan and Linda are terrific to work with, always eager to help in any way. The house is beautiful, fully stocked with every need. We continue to return year after year, it is the perfect spot for our extended family to gather in the summer. You won't be disappointed!

A glorious spot on Lake Michigan with outstanding views of the lake, fabulous accommodations!
An upscale home on Lake Michigan! Easily accommodates 3 families with every household item needed. Plus lots of toys and something to do for all ages.
Linda and I enjoyed your visit to The Pier House and look forward to your return next summer.
Just returned from our delightful week at the Old Channel Pier House.
By far the best vacation home that we've rented for our large family. Grandma, three adult children and their families, had a relaxing, fun-filled time. The house is gorgeous, immaculately clean and exceptionally well appointed. And the views of Lake Michigan from most rooms and the multi-level deck were mesmerizing and so relaxing. Two dishwashers and a table big enough for all of us---extra nice since we were so cozy, no one wanted to leave to eat out! Everyone loved the game room. The owners live next door and we're very helpful. We are looking forward to returning in 2020--that's as soon as our busy lives will allow us all to get together again. Hope the Old Channel Pier House will become a family tradition!
Linda and I enjoyed hosting your vacation at The Pier House and we look forward to your return visit.
Wonderful location and amenities on Lake Michigan!
This well appointed split level home comfortably housed our family of 11 with room to spare! Full kitchen, tv lounging area on each floor, multilevel decks, fire pit, easy access to the beach with numerous paddle boards and kayaks. For rainy days a screened garage room with pool table, ping pong table and foosball. And entirely air conditioned! A slice of heaven with breathtaking sunsets!
Thank you for your kind words describing your recent stay at The Pier House on Lake Michigan. We are delighted you are returning for a third season in 2018!

Breathtaking views, Beautiful home, Great hosts
The Old Channel Pier House provided a relaxing and fun vacation home for our gathering of grandparents, adult children, and grandchildren. Please take time to read all the five star reviews for this property: if anything the reviews understate how very nice this property is. The gourmet kitchen and eating areas are well equipped for large groups, including two dishwashers, inside seating for 16 and two large picnic tables on a deck for al fresco dining. There are large comfortable spaces both inside and on the many decks for groups to gather as well as quiet spaces for reading and naps. Included in the ample seating are a swing and rocking chairs on the front porch and chaises and Adirondack chairs on the decks, and beach chairs for the beach. The kayaks and paddle boards, complete with life jackets, added a lot to our fun. The setting was beautiful and private. We saw more deer than neighbors. Stan and Linda were gracious hosts--always helpful and available but never instrusive. We look forward to our return stay at the Pier House next year and would highly recommend this property to others.
Thank you for visiting The Pier House this year for your family vacation and we look forward to your return next season.

Better than we could have imagined!
This was our first time renting a home on the shores of Lake Michigan and I am happy to say that the Old Channel Pier House greatly exceeded our expectations! It was beautiful in every respect, bigger than we imagined, and suited our family perfectly. Celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary with a special family trip, our 4 children, their spouses, and 7 granddaughters joined us. There was more than enough space for everyone, the fully equipped gourmet kitchen accommodated multiple cooks, and we were all able to eat together on the sun porch. If we weren't down at the lovely beach playing with all the "toys" we were in the game room playing with those toys. Stan and Linda included everything in the house (and outside of the house) to make us feel completely at home - and then some! Thank you Stan and Linda - you do your guests right! And now we can never think of staying anywhere else!
We enjoyed hosting your family during your visit to Lake Michigan and The Pier House and we look forward to your return next season.

The charming lake towns of Montague/Whitehall are 10 minutes away with a farmers market, small shops, weekend events throughout the summer and access to White Lake marinas. There are also weekly live music concerts at the Montague Bandshell.
Boating enthusiasts have a number of options. You can bring your own boat and launch nearby on White Lake or rent various watercraft by the day or week through several local vendors. If fishing is your interest, charters are available on Lake Michigan as well as White Lake. You can also fish off the White Lake Channel Pier or the Lifeguard bridge. Both are short walks from the house.
For the golfers in the group there are many options in the area. The Old Channel Golf Course is up the road about 3 miles. If you expand your options by 20 to minutes you can play Grand View Golf Course in New Era as well as the challenging Thoroughbred Golf Club in Rothbury. To the south, is the Stone Gate Golf Club located in Twin Lake. And finally for those golfers who truly want to experience the best golf in Michigan, Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club is two hours north near Manistee. This beautiful course sits on Lake Michigan and is a challenging links style design.
Additional fun for the entire family is a visit to Michigan Adventure Park which is 25 minutes to the south. Bring you own bikes or rent from local Montague shops. A water park and dude ranch at the Double JJ Ranch is 15 minutes away in Rothbury. About 30 minutes north is the Silver Lake Dunes area and the picturesque town of Pentwater. You can also canoe or kayak down the White River (visit the Happy Mohawk Canoe Livery website for more information). The kids will enjoy a visit to the Country Dairy In New Era as well.
