A Zen-like Getaway! Just minutes to Ashland! Beautifully Appointed!

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

*We added a larger deck & balcony, water filtration system, & a luxurious antique soaking tub*

This home is very unique, has countryside appeal, yet close to all! It is centrally located; just minutes to Ashland, the Shakespeare Festival, & Lithia Park. Historic Jacksonville, several wineries, & Medford are a short hop away. It is also close to serveral mountain bike trails.

You are within driving distance to Crater Lake, Rogue River rafting, Applegate River activities, horseback riding & several lakes. With all the characteristics and charm of this home, it is the perfect place to re-group after a day of theater, sightseeing, or doing any of the other many activities in the area. You can lounge on the deck listening to the birds, or watch the butterflies go by. Enjoying morning coffee or an afternoon beverage is a real delight on the sun drenched deck. Equally relaxing is throwing a blanket on the lawn for a picnic or a nap.

This property has been in my family since the 1940's! My uncle chose this spot to hand build this home in the 1970's. The logs you see in the home were cut from the trees on this property. The antique windows are from a church and a fruit packing plant that are no longer in existence. The antique doors, flooring, and other architectural details were also refurbished from buildings long since gone. Many of the stained glass windows were hand made by my uncle.

Not only does this home offer a central location, it is a very beautiful & unique place to stay. It truly offers the best of both worlds.

We love spending time here! We hope you find it as peaceful & enjoyable as we do.

Keywords: Quiet, peaceful, serene mountain home, yet close to all!

About Mistee

I spent most of my childhood summers here at this property. Now my husband & son are loving it here as much as I do. My husband & I are passionate about nature and being outdoors. We return here often to unwind & yearn to come back to the natural surroundings & peacefulness of this property. We manage the home & property with an emphasis on maintaining a healthy environment for our guest, as well as keeping the natural aspects untouched.

Mistee purchased this house in 2010

Why Mistee chose Southern Oregon

This property has been in my family since the 1940's! This home is a very special part of me.

What makes this house unique

This home offers serenity, yet it is close to all. It feels far from city life, but it is only minutes away. Down the hill is the town of Talent. It has yummy bakeries, cafes (some with live music and WiFi access), a grocery store, two live theaters, four wineries and several restaurants. A few short minutes away is wonderful Ashland. We love just relaxing on the deck & breathing in clean, fresh air. It is hard to leave this beautiful spot.

The cabin is adorable and just a pictured.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is super cute. Beds are comfy and warm. We were there during a big storm and lost power so a few more battery powered light sources would be helpful. Overall a great cabin to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty right outside the window.

Owner's Response: Big storms don't tend to come in too often, but when they do power will go out. I will make sure to put more battery powered light sources in. Thank you for letting me know.

Artfully crafted cabin

  • 5 of 5

Staying at this log-cabin A-frame was a true delight. This place has many wonderful rustic details reminiscent of pioneer days but is thoroughly comfortable, modern and clean. A wooden tray of herbs and colorful vegetables awaited us on the table when we arrived. The old arched window located high in the top of the A echoes the curves of the iron bed-frame cleverly used as a railing in the loft. A stained glass window next to the heavy wooden door beams down its sun-rays. Lots of screened windows allow for cooling and fresh air without having the bugs join you. The table on the deck provided an outdoor space to enjoy wine and snacks and other comfortable outdoor seating was provided. Cabin is sited above the road so you feel set off by yourself without being isolated. Enjoyed a hike nearby to Wagner Gap/Butte and Shakespeare plays in Ashland. I'd enjoy returning with more time to spend at the cabin.

We Adore this Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

I love this cabin! The location is fabulous because it is so centrally located. We've been out for a day at the Illinois River, the Caves, Crater Lake and they were all within about an hour and a half drive. Not bad at all for a day trip!

It takes us 10 minutes tops to get to Ashland from the cabin but at the same time you feel like you are in the middle of the woods while you're there and essentially you are.

There's a grocery store about 5 minutes away for your convenience. If you forget anything on your trip Medford is also within about 15 minutes and there is a mall, every store imaginable, and most of the chain restaurants. Ashland has some great dining options as well, and if you are trying to save some money the cabin has everything you need for cooking meals and storing leftovers.

It's peaceful and the beds are so incredibly comfortable. On our arrival the maintenance staff had put out a tray of goodies and some fresh flowers. So sweet and they lasted our entire stay! We always get visits from a family of deer and this last visit included a group of turkeys.

The details in the cabin are special and you can see and feel the love that was put into building it and that goes into maintaining it for guests. I highly recommend this cabin for a visit to Ashland. It's a beautiful property.

Nice little cabin in the woods!

  • 4 of 5

We were there on business, so we didn't end up spending much time there. I wish we could have spent some time sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful setting more! Everything was clean and in good shape. Although there is no cell service, which might be nice for a vacation, but less appealing for a business trip. I don't blame this place though, it was our choice to be out in the woods. The bathroom is made for very short people, which worked fine for me but not as great for my co-worker. Overall, I would say this place was great and it made me wish I was on vacation out there. Beautiful scenery, cool cabin, and it was pretty accessible too.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking time to let me know about your stay. There is cell service, but we are located in the forest and it depends on your service carrier for your coverage. The shower is equipped with a hand-held shower nozzle for guest's convenience.

A work of art cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful, quiet stay. Even though the weather went very, very hot down in the town, the cabin stayed comfortable and cool. The cabin itself is a real work of art, hand detail every where; showing incredible care. And the place is very well maintained by a local woman who even brought us a tray of fresh goodies from her garden. It made our anniversary very special to stay here. Thanks.
