Beautiful and charming chalet

  • 5 of 5

We spent five days in the chalet, and because the weather did not cooperate to allow for good skiing, we spent most of the time in the chalet. It is an extremely well designed and comfortable chalet. The location is convenient and easy to access. The view of the mountains from the deck is great. This is an excellent chalet and accommodated our visit of four adults and two dogs most comfortably.

Nice Condo. However,

  • 1 of 5

The WEIRD below states why there is a rating of 1 star.

The condo is nice and well located. It is spacious and has all you need on your vacation. It's clean and comfortable.

The BAD:

The parking lot in the winter is extremely dangerous. When we arrived I had to use a shovel I carry in my car to clean the ice in the stairs... but the worse part was the condition of the parking lot. It was pure ice and full of dog droppings. We actually left one day before the end of our stay because my wife had a broken arm and we did not want to risk a fall in the parking lot. This was inconvenient but not enough to reduce the rating below 4.

So far, we would have given this property a 4-star rating mainly due to the poor condition of the parking lot. However, as we returned from skiing one afternoon, we saw the door open and close to it a volvo wagon with the trunk open as well. Initially, we thought there was another family that had booked the place and they were moving in. Then, we thought that maybe somebody was robbing the place. A few seconds later, we saw a man coming out of the condo. All four of us were looking at him with a big question mark... until he identified himself as Clive (owner of the place). Then, he explained he got in the unit to change the microwave. We are still wondering what triggered the urgency to change a microwave that was working, and not give us a heads up.

In all the years I have been using homeaway, I have never encountered an owner entering the premises unannounced. They always send a text or email prior to getting inside a rented unit.

My wife does not ski, so she could have been inside the unit and missed his knocking, say by being sleeping or in the shower. I can only imagine the situation. Even worse, if my teenage son could have been by himself. Entering the premises unannounced with a minor by himself in the shower... what a bad situation. The only thing he needed to do is show some respect and send a text prior to entering... done!

This unit is advertised as a romantic get away... but beware of your stay, you may have a roommate.

I will not return to this place since the owner does not understand privacy and the fact that he sold his rights to the unit for the week. He can get inside his house if he needs to... but needs to announce it!

Owner's Response: Dear Augustin I am very sorry for entering the unit that you rented from me without emailing or texting you first. It was a mistake that I have never made before and it will not happen again. I was rushing around and not thinking things through. I know that this is not a good reason, but that is the explanation. The guests that stayed in the unit before you had complained that the microwave was making strange noises and I was worried about it being an electrical safety issue. I did knock several times to ascertain if anyone was in the chalet and only entered with full knowledge that it was vacant, but I agree with you that I should not have gone in without contacting you first. As far as the parking lot is concerned, I called to have sand put on it once I found out about the problem, however It sounds like this did not happen soon enough. I realize that there is nothing that I can do now to make things better, but please accept my apology. My goal is to do what I can, to make my guests happy and comfortable. Obviously, in your case I failed and I am truly sorry. Thank you for your feedback. It is very important to have it even when, or especially when, it is negative. Best Regards Clive

Breath taking!

  • 5 of 5

We've spent 2 nights with my friends in this chalet and without exaggerating, it was simply amazing!!! The description of the chalet reads "quiet, romantic" and these words perfectly fit this place. The owners were super helpful, we got clear instructions and assistance upon arrival. I can only suggest this place!! 5 big fat stars from me!
