About Sharon Lobo
We are Sharon and Manuel Lobo and we have 7 children, Our house was built with family in mind. We now are living in Bigfork, Montana and travel back and forth when we can. I, Sharon, am originally from Louisiana and went down to Costa Rica in 1991, after serving for 2 1/2 years with Mercy Ships and YWAM. I was with a Christian Mission in Birri and there met my Tico husband, Manuel. We were married in 1992, and we built our home in 2001. We owned a custom millwork business in Costa Rica for 20 years until we closed it and moved to Montana in 2012. So all the woodwork in the house is custom made from our own shop. Our family still travels back and forth from Bigfork, Mt to Costa Rica several times a year to visit family and friends. We certainly hope you enjoy your stay in our home and we are so happy to be able to offer our home for vacation time in Costa Rica.
Sharon Lobo purchased this House in 2001
Why Sharon Lobo chose Santa Bárbara de Heredia
This property has been in my husband's family for years as part of a coffee plantation. We cleared off most of the coffee, except for a small section that acts as a buffer between the house and the road, and built our house and landscaped the yard ourselves.
What makes this House unique
The unique style of the house leaves you feeling like you are in a southern plantation, set in a tropical paradise. Yet without the extreme heat. The temperatures in Birri are almost always in the 70's. Our favorite thing to do is to sip coffee in the mornings on the front porch swings or enjoy the sunset in the afternoons from the back porch hammock. The yard is completely fenced in, so I was always at peace about letting our kids play outside without having to keep an eye on them every minute of the day. We have nearby family for our neighbors, though you can't really see their houses, due to the bamboo fencing.

Great place for families
We enjoyed our stay at Maison Bleu. It was perfect for our family including 2 small children. We had busy days sight seeing in the area and then spent the evenings relaxing and cooking dinner together. The home is well cared for and has everything you need. The kitchen was well equiped. The service was also very good. They were flexible on our check-in and quickly addressed a problem with the internet. The internet had been knocked out by a storm just before we arrived. It was promptly fixed the next morning. We really appreciated the prompt attention to this.
We hope you and your family return to Maison Bleu again very soon in the future. We were so happy to host you and your family!!
It’s amazing and beautiful
We truly enjoyed our 6 day stay at the La Mansion Bleu. Very relaxing and awsome breeze. My family and I had an amazing time making beautiful memories there, can’t say enough. I would highly recommend staying at this beautiful home. Thank you to Teresa the manager who was absolutely amazing. Sharon and Manuel thank you again for Sharing your beautiful home.
Ana, we were so happy to have you and your family stay at our little bit of paradise. We certainly look forward to you coming again!!
Beautiful home with all the amenities you need for cooking. The breeze is wonderful and very nice in the evening for sleeping. Beautifully landscaped Easy to drive to see Waterfalls and other sights while there.
Superb in every way
We arrived late from the airport and Teresa came to orient us to the house. She made us feel very welcome along with Blossom and Lucy the cats. The lawn is beautiful and well maintained. The house was an oasis in the midst of a community. I loved both porches. The front porch has 2 great porch swings which made for a wonderful spot to drink morning coffee. It was very windy while we were there so the back porch with its hammock offered a relaxing spot out of the wind. There was also a nice table out there making it a perfect spot for dinner. We visited Barva volcano which was close but took about an hour to get there because of the poor conditions of the roads. We didn’t want to stay in San Jose and this house was a perfect option. There were nice views from the porches. The area was quiet at night. The house was very clean and comfortable. We cooked all of our breakfast and evening meals there and found the kitchen was easy to use with adequate cookware. I would highly recommend it.
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at maison bleu. We certainly hope you come again soon! The porches are our favorite places to be at our house as well.

Birri Casa Azul
I can't say enough good things about our stay at Casa Azul in Birri. We rented the house for our family members attending our son's wedding approximately 10 minutes from the house. The house is large, spacious, and extremely comfortable. It accommodated all 10 of us very well. Each bedroom was comfortable and very private. The three full baths were large and well equipped. We did minimal cooking in the kitchen, but could have done more with in this well equipped spacious kitchen. We enjoyed morning coffee on the front porch with the two affectionate and attention loving cats and lounged on the hammock on the enclosed back porch. We rented two cars and the drive way and parking was more than adequate. The house is situated off the road on a very private, lovely lot close to (walking distance) corner markets and a pharmacy. The Auto Mercado (large wonderful super market) is about a 15 minute drive from the house. The owner was very responsive and family members oversee the management of the house and were always available when needed.
Thank you Maggie so much for your kind words. We were so happy we could host you and your family. We hope you come again soon!

An oasis near the city!
Such a peaceful spot. You drive through the busy Central Valley and suddenly go through a gate and up a drive lined by fruit trees and flowers. You can see the city lights and the volcanoes. Many butterflies. Two very sweet cats on the front porch. We chose to park our rental car at the house and take ubers and taxis to many nearby locations like Toucan Ranch Animal Rescue, La Lluna de Valencia restaurant (a wonderful Spanish cafe), Cafe Britt and the city of Heredia. The owner is very communicative and we were met by her very kind sister-in-law. Fresh bananas picked from the trees in the yard. Lots of space for our family to spread out. The two hammocks were nearly always occupied.
Thank you so much for being our guest. We certainly hope you come back again soon.
Also thank you so much for loving on our kitties. We really appreciate it so much!
Have a great rest of your stay in Costa Rica!
