House, 3 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 13)
Crepe Myrtle is a charming traditional 'old Mobile Bay home'. It is located on Mobile Bay and has been our family retreat for over 30 years. Located 4.5 miles past the Grand Hotel and about 12 minutes from Fairhope, it is close to shopping and restaurants. The approx. 3000 sq.ft fully air-conditioned and heated house includes a large glassed-in porch stretching across the front of the house offering waterfront views with spectacular sunsets. Sit on the outdoor front patio under the old Live Oak trees or take a stroll out on the pier to kayak, swim or crab off the deck. We have 100 feet on the bay with a large manicured front and back yard. Chose from multiple spots within the house for sitting or dining or just getting away from it all. Six flat screen TVs are scattered throughout the house. Cable TV, high speed Internet, wi-fi, and telephone available. The fully equipped, newly renovated kitchen with granite counter tops, includes 2 refrigerators, dishwasher, new convection double ovens, new disposal, gas cook top, toaster oven, microwave, and many small appliances. Washer and dryer located in laundry room off the kitchen. The three bedrooms have 2 king beds, 1 queen bed, and 7 twins are located on the sleeping porch. The master bedroom has a separate bathroom with tub and shower and granite counter top vanities. The guest bathroom has also been newly remodeled with granite counter tops and walk-in shower and is shared by the 2 guest bedrooms. We are very proud of our house and keep it immaculate shape. Unfortunately we are UNABLE TO HOST WEDDINGS, RECEPTIONS, OR OTHER LARGE PARTIES. Occupancy is limited to the 13 registered guests.

About Ann Gunter
Crepe Myrtle has been our family retreat for 33 years. We have spent our summers here raising 2 children to love the Eastern Shore life style and we are now sharing the experience with our 7 grandchildren. The house is perfect for that family reunion or for our Northern friends wanting to escape the winter's cold. There is nothing to compare to the warmth and charm of nearby Fairhope or a visit to the historic Grand Hotel, just 4.6 miles away, for dinner. Indulge in shopping at the nearby Foley Outlet stores, or just stretch your legs on the wide walking and biking path out your back door. Practice your swing at any of the many nearby Robert Trent Jones golf courses.

We loved The Crepe Mrtyle! Beautiful home with a beautiful view...!
A girls trip with our mom/nana....We loved having plenty of space to spread out yet having the gorgeous sunroom for coffee in the mornings was perfect! The patio area out back overlooking the water was great for a glass of wine and watching the sunset....oh it was beautiful! We will be back & so appreciate The Gunter’s for having it available with all the right amenities at our finger tips!
Beautiful and relaxing!
Super clean, quiet, amazing sunsets, has everything you need !
Thank you for your kind comments. We strive to keep our home in top shape and we’re so glad you noticed!
Sunsets on the bay are our speciality! Please come again!
LOVE this house!!!
Thank you! Its our family home and we are glad you love it as much as we do.
The perfect location for our Mardi Gras weekend!
This charming bay house brought back so many memories for us. Though the pier was recently damaged by a storm, the contractor was on point getting things back in shape. The open layout gave the family plenty of space. The sleeping porch was a big hit. All amenities were available for us to prepare brunch Saturday for 18 people. A beautiful place where we plan to return.
We’re glad to hear you enjoyed your stay during a Mardis Gras weekend. Thankfully the pier reconstruction was complete enough for you all to enjoy some real bay time! Come back anytime! We love having guests who love the bay as much as we do!
Your house made it possible for us to spread our large extended family out into comfortable personal spaces over the Christmas Holidays and be together again to celebrate as a family. Thank you for letting use it again this year. We can only get together like this one time in two years.
Memorable Holiday Haven
My goal was to provide a relaxing getaway for our adult family for Christmas...a special memory away from home. Crepe Myrtle exceeded our expectations...beautiful scenery overlooking Mobile Bay, a well-appointed charming older home with a lovely glassed-in wrap around porch, and a setting for a memorable Christmas.
I was familiar with the area having spent time for a convention at the Grand and fell in love with the charm of older homes on the Bay. This year, I decided a change of pace was needed by all, so I planned a relaxing holiday without the stress of buying gifts...just food, fellowship, and fun in a beautiful setting. Not only was the location ideal with a breathtaking view of the Bay (the sunsets were mesmerizing), the lovely older home was well-maintained and tastefully decorated with comfortable bedding and plush couches and chairs.
I loved the layout of the house with the spacious glassed-in porch that provided a comfortable space for hours of relaxation overlooking the Bay. I think this was our best family Christmas ever in a locale conducive to relaxation...we all needed to decompress after a stressful year! Will we return? Yes!
Thanks to the Gunters for sharing their lovely vacation home Crepe Myrtle with us and for taking such good care of this vintage treasure built in 1938. They were prompt with all of my queries...gracious hosts; a lovely vacation home!
Thank you so much for your glowing review! We would love to have you and your family return next Christmas. Have a Happy New Year!
Immaculately manicured large front and back yard, 100 feet on the bay, backdoor access to biking and walking paths all the way to Fairhope. Plenty of off street parking. Just minutes to Gulf beaches, Robert Trent Jones golf courses, and Tanger Center outlet shopping. Stroll the boardwalk in front of the Grand Hotel and visit beautiful downtown Fairhope with its many specialty shops and beautifully landscaped street corners. Sunsets over Mobile Bay are not to be missed while sitting on your own comfortable warf.
