A roomy, comfy cabin escape in the refreshing Southern Sierras
Refresh your spirit in this cozy, rustic cabin getaway that sits on 1.3 peaceful acres in the foothills of the Southern Sierras above Kern River. Just 10 minutes from Lake Isabella camping, swimming, fishing, waterskiing, and jetskiing, or Kern River camping, fishing, rafting, hiking, golfing, birding, hunting, and more.
This recently-renovated 1800 square foot cabin has 3 bedrooms, a loft, and easily sleeps 4 adults + 4 kids (in bunk beds). (Please note additional fee for each person over 6 guests.) It has hardwood floors, sturdy rustic wooden furniture, pot belly gas stove and central heating, outdoor fire pit area, archery, even a tree fort!
We purposely keep the place rustic, with no WiFi or TV. Instead we provide beautiful views, cozy chairs, books, games, and plenty of fresh air so you can chill out and soak up some real relaxation with friends and family.
PLEASE NOTE: We have a terrific, professional cleaning crew. But this cabin sits on 1.3 acres of beautiful, rural foothills, and occasionally nature visits the cabin. So if an occasional spider, ant, or other critter really freaks you out, you might want to consider elsewhere, because we can't guarantee an atmosphere as sterile as a Manhattan skyscraper! But that's why we love it here and we hope you will too. We've enjoyed 10 years in this cabin and have never come to harm by Mother Nature.

About Justin & Miriam Bookey
We're an active, outdoor-loving family of four. Our two sons love to visit the cabin and climb rocks around the river, play in the tree fort, do archery, hike, ski, and play in the river. We do too!
Justin & Miriam Bookey purchased this Cabin in 2008
Why Justin & Miriam Bookey chose Kern County
It's a great escape from 'city life' for us (Los Angeles), and the fresh mountain air and activities are an amazing break from the urban jungle for anyone.
What makes this Cabin unique
The warm, rustic interior with so much natural wood makes us feel instantly relaxed. The sweeping views of the Kern River Valley and surrounding Sierra mountains are crisp and amazing. The stars at night are incredibly bright.

Great weekend getaway!
Very family friendly rental!
Comfortable, Clean, spacious in a great location
We had a really nice time staying here. Kids loved the outdoor space and the great collection of 'Far Side' books.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable.
Having tubes in the garage to use on the lake is a nice touch.
So glad to hear you all enjoyed yourselves! We hope you find your way back here again.

This place delivers!
We stayed with some friends for a rafting trip getaway weekend. The cabin was perfect - spacious and clean but with a true rustic cabin feel. The property is secluded and gives full privacy but is close enough to town to allow for quick trips to the store if needed.
When we weren't rafting the archery range and basketball hoop kept us busy though my inner 9 year old also thought the tree house and tire swing looked pretty awesome. (Def a kid friendly place)
Owners were prompt with communication and friendly. Highly recommend.
Beautiful cabin retreat!
We didn't realize until we arrived at this beautiful cabin retreat that it sits on an acre of land! There are lots of games and fun things to do, especially the ring and hook game! It is addicting! With decks all around, you have beautiful views with spectacular sunrises and sunsets. We were a party of five adults and there was plenty of room and comfortable beds for all. I highly recommend this relaxing retreat and we will go back, for sure!
The house was beautiful and had a wonderful view of the below town and lake. The house was fully equipped and we were able to find everything we needed rather quickly. The house was clean and well maintained. The beds were exceptional comfortable. Our family enjoyed archery, the tree house, the fire pit and the basketball court. The house was located just a short drive to Lake Isabella and Kernville. We had a great time in both areas. From the main road, the drive up the house was not exactly pleasant. The road was very narrow and there were some sharp turns. I dont know if I would like to be making that drive in the winter. We visited the Sequoia National Forest and enjoyed the trails up there by the big Sequoia trees. We had a great time at this cabin and would recommend it to other families.
Kern River, California's best kept secret
So here we were a few weeks before my birthday wondering where to go and what to do but somehow we felt that staycation was the way to go. We had done Tahiti, Europe, Hawaii but weren't sure where to go to have a good time. At the last minute we decided at Kern River at my husband's suggestion. We found a fairly priced rustic cabin with all the accommodations you can imagine from girl's essentials to boys outdoor gears. The cabin was immaculately kept. It sits on a ridge with a spectacular view of the kern valley below. Thecowners were very accommodating for our stightly oversized group. Friendly neighbour who checked in with us to make sure we were ok. Couldn't ask for more. Thank you guys for a wonderful vacation! Mary Cummings and group
