About Ingrid Ellis
I am originally from Charlotte, NC, but spent many years growing up in Hamburg, Germany. My husband (a native Brooklynite) and I have lived in Ft. Greene for over 20 years and love it. Our 3 children have grown up here and it is truly a real neighborhood with a sense of community, yet urban and exciting. We hope that you will come and experience our Brooklyn!
What makes this Apartment unique
We pretty much fell in love with this house immediately because of its original 19th century details. The house was built in the 1860's and has been very well maintained. It truly gives a sense of the "old" Brooklyn while being a part of the "new" Brooklyn.

Ingrid's comfortable apartment is just a few blocks away from the Brooklyn Academy of Music, interesting
restaurants and subway stations. She and her husband greeted us warmly and gave us suggestions for
places to eat nearby. The location made it easy to get around Brooklyn and into Manhattan.
Great brownstone, great subway access
Great 3rd floor apartment. Loved the neighborhood. Came back from our day trips in Manhatten, to eat at great local restaurants. Easy subway access- C and G lines 2 blocks away. Ingrid was very quick to answer my questions. Only thing I forgot to bring that was needed was a hair dryer. They did offer to get one, but I managed. Would stay again!
There are solutions to my complaints to this perfectly placed vrbo.
A very nice person manages this apartment and it is located 2+ blocks from my daughters apartment. However, it is under air conditions for a third story, probably flat roofed one bedroom with one window air conditioner and a standing fan. The air conditioner and fan should be left on all day for the bedroom to be inhabitable. The one day I did leave the air conditioner on it was off when I returned in the evening. The only option was to sleep on the futon in the living room with the. Air conditioner and keep the bedroom door closed. Fortunately I did not have to sleep in the apartment every night and I did leave early due to the basically uncomfortable futon and guarantee to be an oven on arrival each the evening apartment.
Perhaps the problem of this Vrbo is different during cooler weather. Better solution is to consider an air condition unit in the bedroom.
The bathroom is nicely remodeled.
Great location...can be better
This is a very good location to experience a real neighborhood in Brooklyn. Close to transportation and restaurants. People on the street were either going about their business quickly or really friendly-appreciated the two offers to help. We felt perfectly safe all the time. There's lots of renovation and construction suggesting more vibrance to come.
Note the third floor walk-up as is the case with virtually all Brownstones.
Finish work on the exterior steps was ongoing when we were there and much of the kitchen equipment are new. A hair dryer would be a nice addition and the rest of the appointments are the basics only. We only used the microwave in the kitchen as food options from budget to extravagant to convenience store are within blocks. Several things like a cleaner stair hallway (lots of dust) and better lighting in the hallway and inside (reading lighting doesn't exist) would make for a better experience. VERY little street noise was evident and the need for running the single window A/C unit helped block some as well.
Owner was very quick to reply to questions we sent by emails though nothing urgent came up during our stay.
The property seems to be fairly priced and with a few changes, we would easily add another star.
Great Brooklyn townhouse experience
The apartment occupies an entire floor of a charming and spacious townhouse on a beautiful street, a short walk from the subway and close to many terrific restaurants in Clinton Hill, Fort Greene and Prospect Heights. Ingrid was very responsive to all of our requests, and went out of her way to make sure that we had everything we needed. Unlike many NY apartments, all of the rooms are large and comfortable, including the bath and kitchen. If you are looking for a great Brooklyn experience, I can't recommend a better place to stay.
My daughter and I spent a week in NYC staying in this lovely apartment. The owners were very welcoming and helpful - I for got my printed out tickets to a few events and they helpfully printed them for me as well as helping us out with other things. The apartment is lovely. Third floor walkup, but that meant we had lots of light, great views, and almost no noise in the unit. A window AC unit helped cool the place down in the afternoons as needed. Wi-fi was super-fast for looking up museums. No tv, but that didn't bother us a bit -- we weren't in NYC to watch tv! We had tons of room, and the bathroom and kitchen were well-appointed. The location was superb. Close by good bagels, the flea market, the subway, and lots of other local shops. We could easily walk to bigger stores like Stop&Shop, Target, and anything else we needed. Ingrid was quite responsive and easy to reach. I'd definitely stay in the apartment again in the future.
The property is located in hip Ft. Greene, Brooklyn. Close to all transportation lines and only about 15 minutes by train to Manhattan. While the neighborhood has quaint, historical Brownstone charm and tree-lined blocks, it is also bustling with businesses of every type. Restaurants, bars, theater, live music, cinema, parks, shops all within close walking distance. Beautiful Ft. Greene park and many playgrounds make it ideal for families. During warm weather enjoy dining outdoors at local establishments. Local theaters include Brooklyn Academy of Music -BAM, Theater for a New Audience, BAM Harvey Theater, Mark Morris Theater. Also close: Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Prospect Park Zoo.
