This is not grandma's old-fashioned furnished "rental" home. It is our modern, comfortable, airy and bright beach house, furnished with the most up-to-date appliances, furniture, art, and technology for your complete enjoyment. Unlike most homes in our neighborhood, our home is centrally air-conditioned for your comfort. This is not a "rental property." It is our second home. You will notice a big difference because of that. Everything works. Everything is spotless. Everything you need is there -- In the kitchen, for the beach, for your BBQ's...everything.
Our 4BD/3BA beach home is an excellent choice for longer vacations and executive relocation. Our rental rates are lower than rates for less desirable homes further from the beach. We know because if we could have found a beautiful home like this to rent -- this close to the beach -- we may not have bought this home!
Location in gated community close to the beach
Our home is located in a gated community in Carlsbad, CA near the beach (see map below). The community is west of I-5, easily reachable from the Poinsettia Lane exit. The Poinsettia Coaster Train Station is a 5 minute walk from our house -- a side gate from the community leads directly to the parking lot. The Coaster gets you to downtown San Diego in minutes, and connects with Amtrak. We are also ten minutes from Palomar Airport.
South Carlsbad beach is a short 10 minute walk (or 4 minute bike ride), and our community has very large pool and spa. The pool, spa, and playground are 6 houses down the street from our house -- but you can't hear any pool noise from our house. The community is very kid friendly.
There is a very good shopping center across Poinsettia Lane about a block down Avenida Encinas, with a large Ralph's grocery store, Starbucks, Ames Hardware, Rite Aide, and numerous restaurants and small specialty markets and shops. All of this is a short walk, maybe five minutes.
Description of the house
The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths. One bedroom and full bath are on the first floor and three bedrooms and two baths are on the second floor. In addition to central air-conditioning, all bedrooms have cross-ventilation (the MB has windows on all four sides). The house has brand new ceiling fans in every bedroom upstairs and all downstairs rooms.
The master suite has a king bed, huge walk-in closet, and bath with both shower stall and soaking tub and double sinks. The master suite also has a sitting area with a comfortable couch and chair and 32 inch flat-screen TV. A balcony from the sitting area looks over the back patio and has a nice bench and comfortable cushions.
The second bedroom upstairs has a queen bed. The third bedroom upstairs has two twin beds and a Pac 'n' Play portable crib. The hall bathroom has a tub and shower. Also upstairs is a laundry room with a high-efficiency washer and dryer. There is also a small office upstairs in the hall alcove (see pictures on our web site). The house is our second home, not a 'rental unit,' and is immaculate. It is most suitable for 6 to 8 people.
On the first floor, the bedroom has a desk and can be used as an office. It also has a queen bed that is very high-tech. It is a Frontgate bed that comes out of the closet, and when you plug it in, it unfolds to a complete queen bed on a platform -- it's incredibly comfortable, and nothing like a traditional 'rollaway'. There is a full bath with shower next to the first floor bedroom. Even the bathrooms in our house have granite counter-tops.
As you can see from the pictures, the kitchen is ultra modern with stainless steel appliances, granite counter-tops, and is fully equipped. The fireplace in the living room is only decorative. The dining room seats 8, and there is also a high chair for babies.
The living room has a new 55' flat screen TV with technology to save shows, blu-ray DVD player, couches and two comfortable chairs.
Both patios have tables and chairs for outside dining.
There is a two car garage, and outside the kitchen in the play area is a built-in gas BBQ with built-in gas line -- so no canisters to worry about.
Restrictions on rentals
No cats or dogs or other pets please -- we are very allergic. We do not rent to weddings, reunions, parties, or anyone else who might disturb this family- and kid-friendly neighborhood. Our homeowner's association restricts renters to longer terms (30 days or more), and assesses severe fines for any disturbances -- we would pass along any such fines to renters if that occurred, although we expect that it will not. We must limit guests to a maximum of 8, and the house is most suitable for 6 to 8 people.
Why did we buy this house?
We bought this house because we could not find a suitable rental in the San Diego area that was this close to the beach. We found that the rentals we experienced in this area left a lot to be desired and were over-priced, and nothing compared to our house in luxury and convenience. Most were minimally furnished, had no art on the walls, and felt like a cheap hotel room.
So, we created the ideal vacation house for ourselves and our family, and for you and your family. We have a local property manager who is available to tenants if anything goes wrong -- although the house is so perfect and well-maintained that we can't imagine that happening.
