Overview

About the property

3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, sleeps 6, 2 king, 1 queen

Maggie's Tree House is a contemporary light filled home with wrap around decks on the top level. The great room has high ceilings and an open plan. The large dining table seats 6 and our well stocked kitchen features a gas stove and stainless steel appliances.

The home has a large flat parking area so it is appropriate for multiple vehicles. The house is located about 1 mile from US 19/Soco Road. You cannot see the road from the house and seldom do you hear any road noise.

The five sliding glass doors and walls of windows make you feel like you are living in the tree tops. A 47 inch flat screen TV with DVD player and wireless internet provide many options for entertainment. There is a gas fireplace on this floor.

Our house is comfortable for 3 couples. Three bedrooms are downstairs. The king master suite has it's own bathroom and a TV. The second bedroom also features a king sized bed with deck access. The 3rd BR has a queen bed and deck access. Bedrooms 2 & 3 have ensuite sinks and there is a shared bathroom with shower on this level.

We have been renting this home for over 3 years and have many returning guests. The house is well stocked and comfortable. The decks allow ample space for dining outside or just enjoying cool breezes.

This home is on a 1/3 acre lot. There are houses on both sides. One is seldom occupied. The street is a dead end with 4 other houses past Maggie's Tree House. If you are looking for total seclusion this will not be the home for you. However, this is a quiet, sleepy neighborhood where we lived for multiple years with our pets.

All Season Retreat: Maggie's Tree House is the perfect spot to enjoy all the season's in Maggie Valley. The tulip poplars bloom in the spring as the forest comes alive with color and wildflowers. The mountain breezes cool you inthe summer and you are surrounded by colorful leaves in the fall. In winter we are close to skiing at the Cataloochee Ski area. Please note if you are coming to W NC in the winter you may need a 4 wheel drive to get up the mountain roads when they are covered with snow or be prepared to hike up the mountain until the roads are cleared. This house has peek a boo views of Maggie Valley and a winter view.

This is a non-smoking home with 2 king sized BR and 1 queen. There is a TV in the master suite. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a new gas grill. The home has central heat and air and a gas fireplace.

Lots to Do: We provide you with a list of activities that range from hiking, skiing, gambling, kayaking, shopping, biking, theater, scenic drives, etc. We also keep a calendar of local events and there is always something going on in Maggie Valley, Waynesville or Asheville. We are near many challenging golf courses and only 1 mile away from the Maggie Valley Country Club. You may want to try Laurel Ridge, Waynesville Country Club, Springdale or Sequouia National if you are on a golfing vacation. However, the best part of your vacation may be sitting on the deck after a day of adventures.

Pet Friendly Home: We require a non-refundable pet deposit. We ask that you crate your animals when you leave or take them with you to avoid any damage caused by separation anxiety in the unfamiliar surrounding. If you have multiple animals the non-refundable pet deposit is higher. Sorry, but we have had some bad guests in the past who have not been as respectful of the property as we expect.

About Karen or Richard Morris

My husband and I bought Maggie's Tree House to live in as a summer home so we could get away from the heat and humidity in Florida. We both grew up in the north east and had lived in FL and CA. Now we have now moved permanently to NC. We are the perfect example of 'Half Backs' who move up and down the east coast and settle in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Why Karen or Richard Morris chose Maggie Valley

We loved the great room and tons of windows in the house. Also, being from Florida we wanted a paved access to the home, an ample parking area and to be near to golf courses and restaurants.

What makes this house unique

Since we live in the area we often go to the house between renters. This allows us to make sure everything is in good shape. Since we lived in the house, we love it and hope that everyone who visits feels comfortable and wants to return.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Maggie Valley is our favorite Christmas vacation destination and Maggie's Tree House made it extra special! Your cabin is so warm and inviting, and the Christmas decorations were so nostalgic and made us feel right at home. Can't wait to come back!! Thank you so much!

Beautiful, well equipped and comfortable!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time and loved this house. The peace and quiet was perfect. We only slept in the Master king and it was very comfy. It was good to have many of the basic kitchepantry items and lots of pans which is something we don't always get. We had a little glitch with the internet and Karen and Richard were sooo responsive and helpful in taking care of that! Would love to stay again

Owner's Response: Thank you for you nice review of our property. We would love to have you return to Maggie's Tree House at some time in the future. Return guests are given a discount for their next stay. We were happy to resolve the router issue and get you up and running. Ah, technology - can't seem to live without it any more! All the best, Karen and Dick

The property is great and well maintained.

Love this house. It is easy access to get to the home and into the home. The bedrooms downstairs gets you away from the rest of the house for some quiet time. The open space upstairs is great. Owners are great to deal with also.

Owner's Response: Marie: Thank you for your lovely comments and for returning a 3rd time to Maggie's Tree House. We are so glad that you enjoy staying there. You always take such good care of the house and I'm sure the birds and squirrels are happy for the food you have put out for them. Wishing you all the best! You certainly had some unseasonably warm weather during your stay this year. Karen

Very clean & a wonderful homeowner!!

  • 4 of 5

This house was very clean! It was immaculate! Karen made sure that the home was stocked with everything you could need. (There was even soap, shampoo & conditioner in the bathrooms). We have never rented a place that was as well stocked as this one was. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the stairs that go down to the bedrooms. They are very steep & narrow which was difficult for all 4 of us to use. We are all in our 60's & have various problems such as knee & back issues which made the stairs harder for us to use. If you are younger & healthy they probably wouldn't be a problem. NOW for the most important thing about our stay..... Hurricane Irma was supposed to hit the area where we live & I messaged Karen to inquire about staying longer if she didn't have anyone else renting the house after we left. She called me back almost immediately & generously offered to let us stay 3 days longer for only a TOTAL of $150.00 which is way below her daily rental rate. Fortunately for us Hurricane Irma turned away from our home state & then unfortunately hit Florida. We were then able to leave on our original check out date. But, it was such peace of mind to know that we had the option to stay if needed. Karen was a godsend for us & her offer took away all the anxiety we were feeling about having nowhere to go since our home area was being told to evacuate. We would highly recommend renting from Karen if steep stairs aren't a problem for you.

Owner's Response: We're so glad you enjoyed your stay at Maggie's Tree House. I'm sorry that you found navigating the stairs difficult. For other guests that may read this the stairs are carpeted and there is a railing. I'll take a photo of the stairs and add them to the pictures in the future so others will have a good feel for them. It was our pleasure to extend your stay if you had needed it. Formerly living in Florida has given us a real world understanding for being in the path of a hurricane. Wishing you all the best! Karen
