Private, exceptionally well equipped. Outstanding all round !
The cabin was a great home base for a fall event in Peacham area. Well stocked woodpile and kitchen with utensils. Four of us enjoyed warm fires, pond views, and a cozy chill experience every evening. Great construction and simple instructions. No problems finding it either.
Wonderful, peaceful lakeside cabin in the woods.
Wonderful, relatively new cabin. Best suited for a family group or close friends as sharing baths and common spaces. Walls and floors are thin, so voices and creaking bed sounds travel. Large comfy living room with great fireplace. Big, well-equipped kitchen, with center island perfect for setting up a buffet for a large group. No cable or cell service, though WIFI is available. A bit isolated, so need to be self-sufficient.
Two small bedrooms, one bedroom with one double and a 3/4 antique bed, and a large, open loft with a double and toddler bed. Two and a 1/2 baths--one with a shower, and one with a claw tub--could be a little limiting for a large group.
Large dock on a very private part of lake. Three kayaks provided, which are best suited for warm weather as nearly impossible to use without getting wet.
Our host provided excellent directions and a map, but one needs to print out prior, as there is no cell service in area and signs are confusing and/or wrong, and it's easy to get lost.
Property is lovely and exactly as shown in photos.
We loved our week on Peacham pond, can't wait to go back in any season. It was the best house we have ever rented with kids and the kitchen was a wonderful space for cooking.
Peacham Pond Retreat
Morning sunshine creeps quietly over forested shores giving light to the mist that rises gently into the air, lily pads golden petals dot the waters edge, the silence is broken by a haunting call of a pair of loons and the soft dipping of paddles as they break open the ponds shell...morning wakens on Peacham Pond..
This is was our experience in this Vermont log home...the silence, the harmony and the serenity! And we were ten...space to enjoy time together and time apart. We all had a wonderfully relaxing week. Thank you to Anthea and Paul for creating and sharing there log home with us!
Peaceful and beautiful place to be!
We had the most enjoyable time on Peacham Pond! The cabin is beautiful, the lake is so pretty, the loons are beautiful and we loved hearing their calls in the evening! Anthea shares so much information about the surrounding communities, it made it so easy to find things. Sitting on the dock or out in the kayaks on a summer afternoon, priceless!!
This is a custom cabin furnished with many salvaged and rustic details that we have collected over the years. It is well insulated with radiant heat throughout. The space comfortably sleeps eight with additional bedding that can made available for larger parties. We do not accept reservations for parties greater than ten.
Guests have access to the entire cabin. We provide a paddle boat and kayaks in the summer months. Guests are free to use the stacked firewood in winter.
We are available 24 hours a day by phone or email to answer any questions you may have or to help solve any problems that may arise. We also offer cleaning services at a reasonable rate for rentals longer than one week.
Peacham Pond is a scenic mountain pond and one of the few Vermont lakes where loons successfully breed. The cabins undisturbed waterfront offers a deep marshy cove with easy paddling to a couple of the ponds small islands. The wildlife habitat here and the easy access to the 26,000 acres of Groton State Forest is phenomenal for kayakers, hikers or any other outdoor enthusiast.
Direct access to VAST is within a five minute ride from the door up a groomed trail directly off of Peacham Pond Road.
We do not allow smoking or pets. We are animal lovers ourselves but have familial asthma and allergies. In our sons case, particularly to dogs.
We also do not allow burning of candles. They just present too many possibilities for accidents. We ask that outdoor fires be kept to the designated fire pit. In relation to the indoor fireplace, we ask that our visitors always use the fireplace screen provided. It is a Rumsford fireplace used for heat and by design has a shallow hearth. The screen is essential for safety.
