About Rick Germano
I am a realtor, but more importantly I am a father of two children Christopher and Bianca, who are my world. We have spent a lot of time together on Jekyll Island. This house is a family built property from the 1950's and one of the first homes constructed after the island was purchased by the State of Georgia.
Rick Germano purchased this Cottage in 1957
Why Rick Germano chose Jekyll Island
Our family has spent countless vacations on sunny Jekyll Island, Georgia. this house has been passed down through three generations of family, and we have shared many joyous memories together at this property that are incomparable. The scenery on Jekyll is serene and beautiful.
What makes this Cottage unique
This prime ocean front cottage has breath taking views of sunrises, miles of sandy beaches, and shady oak trees. There is nearby golfing, biking, restaurants, shopping, and other activities. Front yard 9on the Ocean side) is great for family gathers and memories to last a lifetime.

We had a great time despite the disappointment in the accommodations
Location I’d give 7/10. Unit itself maybe a 4/10. The unit was not the unit that was pictured. There was not one thing in the A unit that was in the pictures. The beds are in desperate need of new mattresses. The refrigerator door shelf was zip tied in place. The appliances were very old.
The unit sleeps 8-10 yet there was only seating for 4. The couches were extremely dusty and we actually covered them to sit down. The location was very nice. The rocky walk down to beach is actually a wall of boulders that although we braved them was extremely dangerous.
The evening was nice to be outside, yet again there was only one outside chair.
If cushions were replaced and things looked fresh and clean it would have been wonderful. Jekyll Island is a great place! I just felt like we were “camping” more than we would have liked.
I was also disappointed to hear after I paid my non refundable deposit that I had to travel w my linens and towels. Had I known that ahead of time, I never would have booked that unit.
I can emphasize enough it would be great with some love and freshening up.
I encourage that all travelers read the web site thoroughly, apparently traveler over looked thereis a 100% deposit refund if requested 60 days prior to arrival. Also property nowhere states it will sleep 8 to 10 people. Another over looked travelers misunderstanding is that the unit does not included linens, towels and paper products all these are clearly stated in the web site. Yes jekyll island does have a sea wall that surrounds the beach front of all residential properties as well as commercial properties on Jekyll Island , this is a protection from hurricanes. Traveler falled to note that next door is a public beach access that is accessible to the beach for the young and old alike. Pictures include both units, the units are identical in square footage and are furnished a lot alike. As mentioned I highly encourage all travelers read the web site to avoid any misunderstanding and uncalled for disappointments. I also encourage travelers to e-mail or call me with additional questions pertaining to the property, These units are one of the best centrally located units on jekyll Island , if not the best. These units are truly Quaint Beach front properties and should not be interpreted differently. The owner
The location is unbeatable, but the house needs some renovations, and if that were done, it would be very nice. Air conditioning did not work, many items need replacing, some cutlery and the kitchen counter are chipped/cracked, and so on. There are various quirks, missing parts, and things coming apart that someone with a keen eye and who pays attention to details could remedy quickly without too much expense. The old home with a history needs some TLC. We enjoyed the beach and the island very much.
Accommodating with great location!
Location is the best thing about this unit. It has a unique layout, and is somewhat dated but accommodating. We had plumbing issues during our stay, but the owner was quick to take care of the problem. Rick is very nice and easy to deal with.
Perfect Beach House
First impression upon arrival was, "THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED IN A BEACH HOUSE!" Our family of 19 (including small children and infant), enjoyed our stay and no one wanted to leave.
The view was perfect and outside under the canopy of trees with the ocean breeze was enjoyable. No one wanted to stay inside. We had the opportunity to feed a deer from the yard. Bike riding is so easy to ride around the island.
We will definitely rent again next year and the year after, and after. Rick was a perfect owner always responding immediately to all by inquiries. I have and would recommend to my friends and family.
Nice Beachhouse with a nice deal!
Our family of 8 enjoyed a week in the house. This home isn't fancy but it is very comfortable with views of the ocean in every room. All floors are tile or wood except master bedroom so you don't have to worry about sand and soil. We stayed in side 7B which is on the left hand side of the picture. Everything is provided except bed sheets (there are the comforters and mattress covers as shown on the beds) towels, and paper products. The 2 bathrooms are small as typical in older homes but the commodes were in difficult places. There is a path over some rocks to the beach on one side or two backyards down there is an official public access stairs to the beach. I did not actually see or get a direct address for this place. I looked again to make sure and I did not find it. I had trouble finding the address. Also, since Jekyll Island is a state park, a pass has to be paid everytime you return into the park each day. I was not aware of this until I drove into the park going to the beach house on Saturday. I did not mind paying, but I did not like finding out at the last minute. I have rented beach houses before in a state park and the landlady sent us a park pass. Enjoyed the beach house, island, and the beach but I thought the lack of a stated address (I kept seeing 7A and 7B but at no time did I see the street Brice,) and state park payment was not good.
Amazing Deal and Stay!
Our whole family of 8 can't wait to go back next year! This home isn't fancy but like a vacation home that has been in the family for years. It's quirky (not everything is perfect) but comfortable with views of the ocean in every room. All floors are tile or wood except master bedroom so you don't have to worry about sand or spills and the furniture is durable (read young kids!) My husband, I and 6 kids never felt like we were crowded in. We stayed in side 7A which is on the right hand side of the picture. Everything is provided except bed sheets (there are the comforters and mattress covers as shown on the beds) towels, and paper products. The 2 bathrooms are small as typical in older homes but storage is EVERYWHERE. There is a path over some rocks to the beach on one side or two backyards down there is an official public access stairs to the beach. You could hear the surf at night and at dusk each evening there are several deer that walk up waiting for you to feed them. This house is very close to shops on the beach in one direction and the driftwood beach in the other. I can't think of a reason to stay anywhere else when you come to Jekyll Island my kids want us to buy this place and live here year round!
Ocean Front property with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The front yard is facing the ocean, and has a canopy of live oak trees hundreds of years old. There is a private walkway to the beach that is a pleasant stroll under the oaks. The house is a very short distance to shopping, restaurants, golf fishing and swimming.
