Overview

About the property

Cottage, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, Sleeps 2-4

We fell in love with this enchanting cottage because of its vintage quality and location. It is a sweet old cottage that we have totally renovated. You walk out the door and within steps you are at the sea.

This is an old fashioned 1930's beach cottage with lots of privacy as it is totally fenced in. We've hired a talented gardener/ designer who uses Florida native beach flowers and grasses to create a casual shore setting.

Come and relax at our 1930’s totally renovated cottage by the sea. We've decorated it with charming vintage finds. Including chandeliers that light up the patio area at night creating a magical setting for romance and family fun.

We love sitting on the deck at night feeling the breezes off the ocean.

Immerse yourself in the world of Old Florida, the way it used to be. Grab your coffee and watch the miracle of a sunrise as the dolphins play and the pelicans fly overhead. Sometimes you will see a couple of the locals fishing and it's fun to check if they "got lucky" yet. It's so peaceful walking along our quiet beach to the inlet where you can see the old St Augustine lighthouse on the other shore and other historical sites.

Many activities are available at the beach...parasailing, fishing, kayaking, boating. Why not sail on the pirate ship “Black Raven' If you sail on Wednesday it docks at Aunt Kate’s restaurant for a delicious seafood dinner. We also love walking to our favorite local restaurants for breakfast, lunch or dinner. (We’ll leave you a list). You can walk to our beautiful pier (you can fish from it) too.

Feel like visiting the 16th century? A short ride over the bridge and you are in ancient St. Augustine. The oldest settlement and fort in the USA.

Explore the historical sites and enjoy the family owned restaurants. Take a tour. Either a trolley or a romantic horse and carriage ride.

Fall asleep to the sound of the surf and the swaying palm trees in our hammock on the deck. Yes you can see the ocean from the deck.

Enjoy!

Why Carolyn Covert chose Florida North East

We rented a cottage in the area and fell in love with the location. I had always dreamed of having a cottage by the sea where we could grab our coffees, walk the beach and watch the sunrise.

The charming quaint cottages and the quietness of the area are so relaxing. There is a beautiful nature walk across the street.

Having the ancient city of St Augustine so close by makes the location perfect. Interesting restaurants and beautiful architecture just make it a dream location. St. Augustine is a very magical city. Take a horse and carriage ride!

We love and use the cottage whenever we can.

I like to think of our guests as friends, who are enjoying our cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

In addition to being less than 10 minutes from the ancient city, you can walk to at least 3 good restaurants and our local supermarket, Publix.

Notes:
A short walk down the beach or down the road from the cottage and you will find a wonderful breakfast/lunch cafe. Also two other really good restaurants within walking distance.....we'll leave you all the info. There is also a cozy area on the screened porch to have your wake- up coffee. A wonderful way to end the day is sitting on the deck, high in the palm trees, feeling the ocean breeze. You can see a little bit of the ocean!

I had an extended stay here and really enjoyed it. I was very comfortable, within steps to the beach, and the cottage was stocked with everything I needed even for a few months. I'd definitely recommend it!

Welcoming Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Cottage was all we expected! Close to old St Augustine, and other attractions. Had no trouble finding grocery store (right down the street) or driving to lighthouse. Very clean, very well stocked with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Easy to fall in love with this gem.

First time extended stay Buffalo New York Snow Bird, Vilano Beach, Florida.

  • 5 of 5

Vilano Beach Private Cottage- February 1-March 31, 2017.

Whenever booking housing online, you just never know what to expect upon arrival. We had been traveling from Buffalo for several days when we found ourselves in Vilano Beach one day early. We located the cottage very easily, and was greeted welcomingly by the owners maintance person. Dana saw our plates from New York, flagged us down by waving happily, "welcome come in, come in."

We fell in love with the place immediately. So warm and welcoming. Clean, Clean, Clean, and so charming, and so private. I almost cried. We contacted the owner, and we were able to stay although one day early. A great beginning after a long trip from the north. We upacked the car, and off to re-explore Historic downtown St. Augustine just a few miles away!

As stated in the description, the beach was 200 steps from the Cottage gate to the ocean. First morning there, I had my coffee on the beach listening to the waves crash upon the shore. And many days after. Beautiful!

We cannot say enough about the cottage. This was a perfect house for one person, a couple or small family. It has everything, and I mean everything you could possibly need. Fully stocked kitchen for cooking. Including a can of coffee in the cupboard. We really didn't need to go to the store for anything for one or two days! Awesome! Two bedrooms, comfortable furnishings, in and out, and washer and dryer. Perfect, Perfect. I loved the decor, shabby chic.

Conveniently located to what we considered "a private" beach, on a quiet street. This cottage is very close to old town St. Augustine. A place you can always find something to do. Vilano is however, far enough way to avoid tourists if you want. I spent many days inside the private fencing, reading, and soaking up the sun.

The location is also perfect for day trips to Amelia Island, Atlantic Beach, Neptune, Daytona, and so on. I believe we visitied 7-8 different beaches and their communitites. There are also many state parks to visit for hiking and site seeing.

The cottage has some quirks, as do our own homes. Carolyn and Jim are very quick to respond to concerns and are refreshing to work with. We can't say enough about the cottage. Love, love, loved it. Location was perfect. I do hope to return next year.

We love this place!

  • 5 of 5

We've been spending a week here in December for the past five years. We love it! The cottage is bright and comfy on the inside, and the location is ideal! The beach is literally steps away. Vilano Beach is a nice, laid-back little community; the bustle of St. Augustine seems far away, and yet it's only a 10-minute bike ride. St. Augustine itself is quite lovely in December, with all the lights; the view from Porpoise Point or the Pier is beautiful.

Our favorite places to visit are the GTM-NERR (8 miles north on A1A), Fort Mosé State Park (just at the other end of the Causeway), Anastasia State Park (6 miles south on A1A), and Washington Oaks State Park (in Marineland, 22 miles south on A1A).

We really look forward to our December getaway each year; we hope to keep coming back for a long time to come!

The cottage had everything we needed. The owner put in a few extras, food staples, laundry soap and shampoo. The cottage is cozy with a warm and inviting feeling when you walk in the door. My favorite places were the reading nook and deck. The location was perfect.
