A fantastic week in the Black Hills!

  • 4 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed staying at the cabin on Terry Peak. It was the perfect place to relax between our sight seeing excursions in the Black Hills. The cabin is well stocked with everything that you might need. I especially enjoyed having coffee and sugar available! Some others have mentioned that having a TV with more channels would have been nice but I have to disagree. Our kids are all of an age where they spend too much time watching TV, or screens in general, and it was so nice to 'unplug' and just enjoy each other and the beauty all around us (however, a couple of channels do work and there was a pretty good selection of DVD's if you'd like some TV time).

The only thing that we would change or improve upon would be to have a 3rd fan available (so each floor could have one). It was pretty hot at night even with the windows cracked. Part of this was also because we used the washer and dryer nearly every night while we were there (an awesome perk!) but the dryer wasn't vented to go outside so it got very hot downstairs when we ran it.

Thanks so much for helping our family have a great trip to the Black Hills! I highly recommend!!

Unhappy :(

  • 3 of 5

Enjoyed the Hills but cabin needs to have some repairs done and materials updated. Should update to new queen beds through out. Needs an AC unit, it was 101 degrees and not comfortable at all. Grounds need up keep. Loft ladder was a joke for older kids to go to bed every night. Was well stocked and clean. With a little work it would be worth the money :(

Great Location

  • 3 of 5

Great location in the Black Hills and relaxing from the crowds. Kitchen is very well stocked, as are the bathrooms and bedrooms. So check out the spices and such before going to the grocery store, which is close by in the ACE shopping area. Please be advised that you will need to travel up a winding gravel road and then a rocky sloped driveway -- especially important for bikers. Fortunately we had trikes. Also, there is no TV, only a DVD player, even though the welcoming folder says there is Direct TV. Otherwise, enjoy the roomy cabin and Black Hills area!

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We needed a place to stay while in the greater Rapid City area for some hiking and sightseeing, and this place was available. First of all, it is literally up on a mountain. You have to drive up this long, twisty, scenic road to get there. Second, it's isolated. Nary a person around anywhere. It's quiet. Third: wraparound porch. You step outside and can just sit out on the porch and watch nature while you try to find a sliver of cell signal to connect to. Fourth: the cool loft area above the kitchen. Of course we had to work out a rotation so the kids wouldn't fight over who got to sleep up there. Plenty of beds. Plenty of space. All wrapped up in a well decorated log cabin motif. If you drive back down the mountain, you're in Lead, SD, and it's easy to hop onto 385 and get to whatever you want to see (Mt. Rushmore, Scenic Lake, Harney Peak). Or you can go the other direction into Deadwood. It's a perfect location. Very enjoyable stay.
