Great location - fun for small family

  • 4 of 5

The kids loved sitting on the large porch steps and watching the fishing boats go by.

We spent most nights eating dinner on the porch with the water as a back drop, using the outdoor grille. Plenty of kitchen utensils for cooking.

The home has Maine cottage charm, with telescope and books about sailing/fishing.

We would walk down to the end of the point in the morning when the tide was out, to search for rocks and shells, a favorite activity for the kids.

A playground, tennis, and basketball are a short trail walk behind the house (less than a minute).

Paul's marina, down the street, has awesome sandwiches, 'penny' candy, and a view of boats docking at the marina.

lovely cottage with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 stayed in the cottage during the Bowdoin graduation (2016). I echo the comments of the previous review.... welcomed by flowers, wine, and everything we needed (BBQ, blender, bikes, etc). It reminded me of the Maine cottages of my youth. It was a perfect location to easily get to events in Brunswick but have a 'get-away' to host friends and family for dinners. There are several tables of different sizes and lots of chairs and we were able to seat many on the porch on one beautiful evening, and then were able to set up dinner for 8 in the livingroom on a cool night. It was just perfect. we loved the walks around Mere Point and recommend getting lobsters and other freshly baked goods from the marina/store near by. When i inquired about picking up lobsters, I discovered the marina will cook lobsters for you and package them to stay warm and they baked rolls and a blueberry desert to order! I would definitely recommend this cottage for families. We hope to come back.

Sweet, sweet cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 stayed in this lovely cottage for Bowdoin grad wknd. We were welcomed by a note from the owners advising us of a nest with baby birds on the porch for us to observe, and a small spot of uncut grass that entertains hummingbirds. They left fresh flowers, bottled water and a bottle of wine to make us feel (happy!) The cottage was sparkling clean, sunny and warm. A beautiful view of the bay and great place to explore as the tide goes out - driftwood, shells, seaglass... Lots of books to read in the shelves. I could stay there the whole summer. Also, convenient for sightseeing to other Maine spots. Just a great place.

Ideal Bowdoin Event Homebase

  • 5 of 5

Close enough to Bowdoin for any event (Reunion, Homecoming) but far enough away to enjoy the coast and the Mere Point community. Lovingly preserved without feeling dated, this cottage will allow you to slow down and relax.

Perfect Maine Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Great place for family to reconnect, whether playing croquet on the lawn surrounding the cottage, combing for seaglass in the small cove across the quiet road, playing board games, stargazing, or sharing early morning coffee on the porch. This cottage, located in a small community of 1920's era homes which have been owned and maintained in many cases by the same families for generations feels like a very special place. The neighbors are welcoming and always stop to share stories of the community or at the very least wave hello. This was our second visit to this cottage and we had an opportunity on this visit to meet many of the wonderful family members who own and maintain this well kept and clean cottage. The smell of the salt air will be the first thing that greets you as you climb out of your car but the memories you build here will last long beyond that. Great location for exploring the mid-coast of Maine as well.
