Overview

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 1 half bathroom, sleeps 6

This warm and charming house, a true Sonoma craftman's style built in 1891, sits on almost half an acre of land, totally enclosed to give you privacy and let you forget about the world. A nearby walking trail leads to Sonoma Plaza.

The main bedroom features a plush California king sized bed. The second and third bedrooms each have a pillow-top queen bed. Views of the Sonoma hillside are available from all bedrooms.

Relax and unwind in the lounge chairs just outside the covered back porch. To the right is a hot tub for four with an outdoor shower station, and to the left is an eating area for six with a three burner BBQ. Take a siesta after a nice meal, lie down and swing gently on the hammock for two.

The garden offers delights seasonally through year with 30 fruit trees and shrubs (peach, apple, pear, tangerine, pommelo, orange, grapefruit). Among the grove of the trees, settle back in a rocking chair, or relax on the comfortable sectional sofa under a gazebo.

Game Room: A recreation room has been added recently, with an 8' pool table, a 55' TV connected to HD cable box and Blue Ray DVD player, and a lounge/ bar area.

Wireless Connectivity: There is wireless connectivity throughout the property, so you can go to the internet with your laptop from the gazebo, the cabana, the porches, the game room or the al fresco dining area.

Orchard in A Garden Setting: There are different fruit and berries for different seasons. In spring time, there are 2 different kinds of cherries and strawberries. In summer there is an abundance of plums, followed by apricots, then yellow and white nectarines, ending with peaches. Blackberries, gold and red raspberries, along with 7 different kinds of table grapes are common in late summer. A couple varieties of apples, pears, and figs herald the arrival of fall, with chocolate and coffee cake persimmons and pomegranates ending the season. Winter is celebrated with Cara Cara oranges, limes, pommelo, grapefruit, tangerines and citron. When the all the citrus trees bloom in late winter, the whole property is perfumed with the most refreshing, soft and sweet smell. A new 3-1 pluot tree has just been planted in 2009, along with a sweet kiwi vine. Please note that due to different weather conditions, fruit yield and harvest time may vary from year to year.

The Best Vacation Home Ever!

  • 5 of 5

We spent an amazing week at Amadora with our adult children; it was truly the most welcoming and well-appointed home we have ever rented. The house is beautifully furnished with plenty of space for relaxing or entertaining. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, and a very nice gas grill and outdoor dining area makes evening meals 'al fresco' a special treat. The game room in a separate building on the property has a pool table, two sofas, and a wide-screen TV. We were lucky enough to have some friends visit us while we were at Amadora, and entertaining them was as easy and as comfortable as if we were in our own home. Joe (the owner) provided us with a literal book full of information on extra amenities, restaurants, wineries, and activities, and he even has arranged some special discounts at some activities for guests of Amadora. But by far the best feature of this wonderful home is its gardens - the entire property is covered with fruit trees, herbs, and flowers of every variety. We feasted all week on fresh figs, peaches, raspberries, and tomatoes from the garden. What a wonderful bonus! We will certainly return to Amadora next year.

Great location, spacious, clean & fully equipped

  • 5 of 5

5 adults stayed in the home & we had plenty of space & privacy. The home was clean & had everything we needed for our long weekend vacation. We loved the fruit trees in the yard! The home is close to everything yet felt like a private retreat. Joe was incredibly helpful leading up to our trip, providing excellent communication, information & recommendations for everything from wineries to restaurants. Thank you for your your part in making our first visit to Sonoma one that created beautiful memories for a group of long-time friends!

Great property! Awesome owner! Beautiful gardens!

  • 5 of 5

The Amadora house had everything we needed! Comfortable living spaces and bedrooms. Great use of the garage for a game room and extra bathroom. We enjoyed spending cool mornings and evenings in the yard surrounded by beautiful flowers and fruit trees. The property is just a short drive to the Sonoma plaza and grocery store.

Joe provided a wealth of information on things to do and places to eat and drink.

I would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends visiting the area!

Secret Garden

  • 5 of 5

Walking in through the front gate gives the guest the feeling of being transported into a secret garden. The best amenity of the home is the garden area and the lovely seating arrangements scattered around the compound. We foraged for many blackberries, peaches, apples, and figs. Lovely additions to our Ancient grain breads we purchased at the Sonoma Famers market for dinner and the veggies we bought at the Patch garden.

We all appreciated the correspondence with Joe with suggestions for the area and details on the home. Joe is a wonderful host, sharing with us what the locals would do.

This trip is an annual couple getaway for us. We loved trying Sonoma this year. We enjoyed walking to town on the walking/bike paved path in the mornings to the Basque Bakery. The home is located nearby some restaurants and shopping areas and a quick drive or uber to the square. The uber services were almost instant.

The vintage home has been renovated to provide modern amenities. The two main bedrooms are very nice and large and share a spacious bathroom. The third bedroom is a small bedroom accommodating a queen bed with a nice size closet. The half bath next to this room is very tiny and has space for two toothbrushes on the counter. We were not expecting this, as there are no pictures of this 1/2 bath on the webpage. The second bath is located outside the main home in the large and nicely remodeled game room. This bathroom is modern and very large. It was a little spooky to go outside at night to take a shower crossing the patio area to this building. Reminiscent of camp days going to the bath house.

The home has a secured gated driveway with privacy fencing and all doorways have lights.

The home has lovely gathering areas, and a big table for some of our couple who needed to "work". The grill was new and the outdoor table and umbrella new, which was a lovely area to sample our wine purchases and farmers market dinner.

Our suggestions might be to add a small island in the kitchen to add some counter space for preparing meals, some personal bath amenities such as makeup removers/small bath soaps, change the wind chime lamps in the sunroom bedroom( we were not able to open the windows at night to cool off the very hot room), and a heads up on the bathroom situation. Next year, I will be first inside and claim the king bedroom, which has a ceiling fan and is a large room.

Owner's Response: The distance between the main house and the game room is about 10 feet, or the length of a bedroom. We look forward to welcoming you again. Thank you.

Races Oasis

  • 5 of 5

Every year for the past few years we have been coming to Sonoma Raceway for the NHRA Drag races, and we have stayed at Amadora for most of those weekends. The one time we didn't just wasn't the same. It is such a pleasure to stay in such a comfortable, clean and well maintained home. Joe is very easy to work with and always gives us plenty of information. Since we spend most of our time at the race track we don't eat at the house but have found a gem of a restaurant nearby called Mamma Taninos. We enjoy morning coffee around the dining table and evening wine in the gazebo. The beds are comfortable. We usually have time for a couple games of Eight Ball. Love the fruit trees and bushes, usually we get few berries, peaches and nectarines when we come. Thank you for sharing this wonderful house.
