Space 1,100 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedroom, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-4) and kids- Licensed with City

We also have a smaller sister property with one bedroom, please ask about it. Thanks!

Come stay at our spacious (1,100 sq ft/ 14 ft ceilings) and accommodating shotgun in the vibrant By water community of New Orleans. The house is a one bedroom with a living room, dining room, full kitchen and two bathrooms. Can accommodate up to 4 if one couple is willing sleep in the living room but it's best suited for two. We offer a new queen sleeper sofa in the lounge and an extra kids fold down twin and queen blow up mattress. Rates subject to change according to event schedule and festivals.

The neighborhood is amazing. The Mississippi river runs right by the house. Boats and breeze make you feel a part of the city and its history.

Guests can roll right out bed and hit Elizabeth's for duck confit waffles and praline cooked bacon after dancing the night away at any of the neighborhood's great music venues. The neighborhood's art scene is stunning in a way that only things of New Orleans can be.

Elizabeths has been voted top brunch in America by Travel and Leisure Magazine.

You'll find great music at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, French Quarter Fest, Essence Music Fest and Voodoo Festival; exotic food specialties at the New Orleans Food and Wine Experience, Po-Boy Festival and others; and exciting celebrations our city's diverse culture at Fiesta Hispanica, St. Patrick's Day, Southern Decadence and more. We have writing and visual arts festivals commemorating our historic literary and film traditions like the annual Tennessee Williams Festival, FringeFest and the New Orleans FilmFest. And, of course, there's the biggest festival of them all – Mardi Gras, which is celebrated here like there's no tomorrow!

Satsuma is an amazing coffee and breakfast place. Bacchanal Wine garden offer a large wine garden and live jazz music. Mariza is great Creole- Italian food. One of my favs in the Bywater is Jims for sandwiches and breakfast (try the cuban).

The French Quarter is a beautiful walk or bike/bus ride away... but you wont want to leave the neighborhood.

Frenchman street is not far away and can be walked to. We also offer bike for rent.

Robert purchased this house in 2011

Why Robert chose Bywater

The Bywater neighborhood in New Orleans offers a mix of local art and music, industrial themes, historical design, and close in proximity to the Quarter (and the best folks in town) Check out the article:

What makes this house unique

The Bywater offers musicians from all walks of life, families, artists, great restaurants, the Mississippi river and much more. My old house is spacious with antiques from Louisiana, England, France, Belgium and Texas.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Robert, the owner was sweet and gave us lots of stuff to do and see. We did all of them! Loved Elizabeth's just across the street for breakfast and the Joint for dinners. I walked to the French quarter almost everyday and then my husband would join me at cocktail time and listen to jazz. We did have some mice in this old shotgun house because the house behind us started to be remodeled but I dispatched them with the old mousetrap and peanut butter. Great neighborhood.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

My dad and I stayed here for 5 nights. I used the main bedroom and my dad used the pull out couch (double or maybe a queen bed). Both were comfortable. Great place to stay. Close enough to French quarter to walk or bike ride (2 miles) and lots to see and do in this ward itself as well. Walks through Crescent Park and Elizabeth's on the corner were the highlights in the immediate vicinity. I had fun using the bike that came with the house for a few days for my commute to the conference I was attending. I would stay here again. Clean. Comfortable.

Living like a local!!

  • 5 of 5

I grew up in New Orleans and I visit as often as I can. We were able to spend the time it takes to really get a feel for the area.this house is as good as it gets! The house is very spacious and has all the amenites you could ask for. We parked the car and it stayed parked for the 5 days we were there!Having a bike is the way to go. We walked and rode bikes everywhere we went! One of the best resturants is 2 doors down from the house and the food is amazing! The pics do not do justice to how nice this place is.Thanks to Robert and the neighbors we had the best time! the only problem with staying here is leaving! Thanks to the people in the Bywater for making our time very special.

Lovely and very spacious Bywater home

  • 5 of 5

Lovely and very spacious Bywater home. Far enough from the French Quarter craziness yet close enough that we could walk there and back quite easily. Exactly what we were looking for : a taste of the NOLA life away from the usual tourist hotels circuit. The neighbourhood was quiet and the people were friendly and exceptionally polite. Robert, the owner, was very generous of his time and gave us a lot of helpful information. We would definitely recommend this rental! - Sherlyne and Michel

True New Orleans Experience

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home in the Bywater- away from the noise and the tourists (walkable or easily drivable to that French Quarter scene or,better yet, the Marigny). Being part of a New Orleans neighborhood was a priceless experience and the opposite of a touristy hotel in the French Quarter. In addition, the house was spotless and ridiculously roomy with many personal touches unique to New Orleans.Robert, the owner, was more than helpful. And a great restaurant on the corner to boot!

Fun place , good value

  • 5 of 5

This is a very classy space. Feels large and it is tasteful especially if you like antiques. The neighborhood is quite interesting. Great houses being upgraded everywhere you look. Elizabeth's has great brunches. Try the Redneck Eggs. The house is close to the French Quarter. It was clean and in good shape. I would definitely recommend this house if you are a little adventurous which you probably are if you're looking on VRBO.
