About Becky

Our log cabin was hand built by Ken--it took 2-1/2 years to complete. He also is very knowlegdable about the wildflowers that surround the cabin. We also run the Rose Pedaler next door and have enjoyed getting to know many people that have stayed at the cabin and visited the Rose Pedaler

Becky purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Becky chose Southern

We have lived in the area for our entire lives and decided with news of the Shooting Star Bike Trail going right by, this would be a great opportunity for us.

What makes this cabin unique

Enjoy the solitude on the deck, or have a campfire in our firepit located by the Rose Creek. Bike trail is complete to LeRoy (20 miles) and can be reached by our blacktopped path to the Shooting Star Trail. Crafters retreat across the parking lot now available for a great crafters retreat weekend or bring your family and/or friends and enjoy the ambiance of the log cabin!

Great accommodations

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy to be able to check in at noon instead of having to wait until 4 p.m. The cabin was very clean and neat and the outdoor area well kept and inviting. The rooms were all a good size and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay at this cabin.

Wonderful retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this well-appointed cabin in a beautiful, peaceful setting, beside paved bike trail and meandering creek. At night, we enjoyed the lightning bug show from upstairs terrace. Relaxing!

Beautiful, cozy house for a Girl's Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Becky was a great hostess for our Girls Weekend. She was very responsive with all my questions leading up to the weekend.

The accommodations were perfect. 3 large bedrooms, each with their own bath. Worked great for the 6 of us! There were so many cute touches within the cabin and it seemed like we had everything that we needed. We made meals there and there was not anything missing. We couldn't have asked for better weather (70 degrees in November). After visiting 4 Daughters Winery (which is nearby and a must if you are in the area), we were able to come back to the house and sit on the porch and bask in the sun. There were even lawn chairs there for us! A few of us went walking on the bike trail in the morning which was right out the door.

There isn't a ton to do in the area but for us that was perfect as we just wanted to be together (some of us girlfriends hadn't seen each other in 15 years). Would highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful Handcrafted Home that was very Inviting!

  • 5 of 5

Our Family met at Becky's Handcrafted Log Cabin on the Shooting Star Trail August 26th - 28th, 2016.

The home was stocked with everything you could ever want or need. We enjoyed the wrap around deck and the access to the bike trail.

There were 3 wonderful bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with walk out slider doors for each to the decks.

Becky greeted us with homegrown tomatoes and cucumbers and helped us with need of a bicycle pump.

We even discovered that the Austin Art Festival was the same weekend and it was just a short drive.

It was a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

Thank you!

The Benak Family.

Nestled in the Prairie

  • 5 of 5

Becky was a great hostess for our weekend getaway in the Log Cabin. The site of the house is nice with the restored prairie flowers coming within feet of the wrap-around deck. We sat under the eves during the rain, took short bike rides on the trail with the kiddos, watched the Olympics (our only allotted screen time) and cooked a few good meals. We found plenty of space to be together - and to spread out! The rooms are nice with great decks. The bathrooms are nice and private. The kitchen and dining room give good options for seating arrangements. Everything was great for a weekend away for our two families.
